Abstract

This qualitative research study conducted at Sekolah Dasar Negeri 1 Kapoa during the 2020/2021 academic year delves into the intricate web of factors influencing fourth-grade students' motivation to learn, particularly within the context of the pandemic. Through interviews and meticulous data analysis, this research unravels the multifaceted nature of student motivation, shedding light on both internal and external elements that come into play. While physiological factors such as vision and hearing were found to have limited direct influence on motivation, the study highlights the pivotal role of psychological factors. Competence, talents, and family harmony emerged as significant determinants of students' learning motivation. Moreover, external factors proved crucial contributors to this intricate motivational landscape. Parental support, effective teaching methods, peer interactions, and community engagement played vital roles in shaping students' motivation. This research underscores the complexity of student motivation and its dependence on many factors. Understanding these influences is paramount for educators, parents, and policymakers alike. Tailoring teaching approaches, providing robust family support, and creating a nurturing learning environment are key strategies to enhance student motivation and foster academic success. As such, further research and targeted interventions addressing these motivational factors can contribute to the development of more effective, student-centered educational practices.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of the Campus One-Stop Service Information System (SISKA) application in supporting the admission services for new students (PMB) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Buton. The background of this research is based on the importance of digitalizing higher education services to improve efficiency, transparency, and convenience for prospective students. This research employs a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The study was conducted at the PMB Unit of UM Buton. The results indicate that the SISKA application has significantly simplified the new student admission process online, from uploading documents and filling out personal data to selecting study programs. However, its implementation still faces several challenges, such as low digital literacy among some applicants, the absence of a user guidance feature, and technical difficulties in uploading documents. The discussion is based on public service management theory and is supported by previous studies emphasizing the role of digital literacy in utilizing online-based service systems. The conclusion of this study is that the SISKA application has significantly supported the one-stop service management system, although improvements in user education and feature enhancement are needed to make the system more inclusive and effective in future implementation.

Abstract

Elementary school students’ understanding of the interrelationship between environmental, social, and economic aspects serves as a crucial foundation for fostering early awareness of sustainability. This study aims to analyze the effect of a contextual-based biology education approach on improving students’ understanding across five key aspects: environmental understanding, social understanding, economic understanding, analytical ability of interconnection, and sustainability awareness. The research employed a quantitative method using a quasi-experimental design of the Nonequivalent Control Group Design type. The subjects consisted of 22 fifth-grade students divided into two groups: experimental and control. Instruments included tests, questionnaires, and observation sheets. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, independent samples t-tests, linear regression, and multicollinearity tests. The results indicate that the contextual learning approach has a significant effect on all student understanding variables, with the majority of students in the experimental group achieving high scores, particularly in environmental understanding and sustainability awareness. The t-test showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups, while the regression analysis revealed a positive relationship between variable X and all Y variables. These findings support the effectiveness of contextual approaches as a holistic learning strategy in elementary education.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the significance of increasing students' learning motivation through the provision of group guidance services to students of SMAN 3 Baubau. This research used quantitative method, with pre-experimental design using one group pretest-posttest design. This research was conducted at SMAN 3 Baubau with the research subject of class XI students who have low learning motivation category. The population in this study totalled 48 students. Sampling through nonprobability sampling technique with the technique of determining the number of samples through purposive sampling. The number of research samples is 8 students who have low learning motivation. The posttest results consisted of 5 students with a percentage of 62% in the medium category and 3 students with a percentage of 38% in the high category and there were no low category students. In the Ranks Uiji Wilcoxon Signed-Ranks data shows that negative ranks or negative differences between pre-test and posttest results are 0 in the N value, Mean Rank and Sum of Ranks. On positive ranks the results of the pres test posttest show 8 on the n value, mean ranks or an average increase of 4.50 and sum of ranks with a value of 36.00. While the level of similarity in the pretest and post test scores is 0, where the value of 0 is said to be no similarity in the pres test and posttest scores. It can be concluded that group guidance services are effective in increasing students’ learning motivation.
