Abstract

Kegiatan Lesson Study memegang peran sentral dalam upaya pengembangan profesionalisme guru serta peningkatan mutu pendidikan secara keseluruhan. Dalam era yang terus berkembang dengan tuntutan yang semakin kompleks di bidang pendidikan, guru tidak hanya diharapkan untuk menjadi pemimpin dalam kelas tetapi juga agen perubahan yang berkontribusi pada peningkatan sistemik dalam pembelajaran, Melalui pelatihan Lesson Study guru tidak hanya dapat memperbaiki proses pembelajaran tetapi juga membangun komunitas belajar, mendapatkan data hasil perbaikan proses pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan dalam menghasilkan artikel ilmiah. Kegiatan pelatihan Lesson Study ini dilakukan dari bulan Mei hingga Agustus 2023. Pelatihan dilakukan di SMP Negeri 2 Tinambung yang diikuti oleh guru dari berbagai mata pelajaran sejumlah 32 orang. Pelaksanakan kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan dengan beberapa tahapan dimulai dari tahapan persiapan yang terdiri dari koordinasi dengan mitra terkait permasalahan serta solusi yang ditawarkan, kemudian tahapan perencanaan kegiatan, tahapan persiapan kegiatan pelatihan, tahapan pelaksanaan pelatihan, tahapan monitoring dan pandampingan, dan tahapan evaluasi kegiatan. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi terkait kepuasaan mitra menunjukkan hasil positif pada setiap indaikator kepuasaan.

Abstract

Plant pests are one of the challenges faced by farmers. These pests are difficult to eradicate and increase production costs due to the many pesticides used. Therefore, this community service program introduced practical and affordable biopesticides. The program was conducted in two sessions, with session 1 being a lecture session and session 2 involving hands-on practice. The methods employed in this program included lectures, training, and discussions. In session 1, 20 participants attended, while session 2 saw an increase to 40 participants. The training covered theoretical materials on the basics of biopesticides, the ingredients, procedures, and mechanisms of action. The practical session involved the biopesticide-making process, which consisted of 6-8% cigarette butts, 25% lemongrass, 10% sugar, 20% EM4, and 1 liter of water. Based on the evaluation results before and after the activity, it was found that all evaluation indicators showed significant improvements in terms of knowledge, skills, interest, and practicality. Therefore, this program has successfully enhanced the participants’ knowledge, skills, and interest in applying biopesticide production in their daily work.

Abstract

Kombucha merupakan produk fermentasi yang diketahui banyak mengandung senyawa anti-inflamasi dan anti-bakteri. Pada penelitian ini ekstrak senyawa hasil fermentasi dikemas dalam bentuk nanoemulsi untuk meningkatkan stabilitas senyawa dan efektivitasnya sebagai anti-maag. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki potensi nanoemulsi ekstrak kombucha dari pohon barru dalam meningkatkan aktivitas perusakan sel bakteri Helicobacter pylori. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap Faktorial (RAL Factorial). Hasil pengukuran pH dari setiap yaitu berada pada kisaran 1,9. Pada peak yang diperoleh senyawa yang terkandung dalam kombucha tersebut adalah kafein, hasil uji antimikroba memiliki zona hambat dengan kategori kuat dengan kisaran luas zona 11-15 nm. Uji in silico menunjukkan kafein mampu menghambat penghancuran struktur sel, kedua protein uji yang digunakan menunjukkan nilai binding afinity yaitu -4,31 dan -4,8. Berdasarkan pada seluruh data yang diuraikan dapat disimpulkan kombucha pohon barru memiliki aktivitas antimikroba yang dapat digunakan untuk mengobati maag. Akan tetapi, untuk membutikkan lebih lanjut maka diperlukan analisis in vivo serta analisis lainnya.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance students’ cognitive learning outcomes through the implementation of the Reading, Questioning, Answering (RQA) strategy. A Classroom Action Research approach was employed using the Kemmis and Taggart model, comprising two cycles. The research participants were students from the Biology Education Program at the University of Sulawesi Barat, enrolled in the Educational Profession course. Data on students’ cognitive learning outcomes were collected using test instruments in the form of multiple-choice and essay questions related to the course material. The findings revealed that in Cycle 1, the average N-gain score for students' cognitive learning outcomes was categorized as low. After refining the strategy in Cycle 2, the N-gain scores improved to a medium category. Improvements included providing key points as guidance during the Reading phase and utilizing a question framework based on Bloom’s taxonomy during the Questioning phase. The adjusted implementation of the RQA strategy significantly enhanced students’ understanding and learning outcomes compared to conventional teaching methods. This research demonstrates that the RQA strategy is not only effective in improving cognitive learning outcomes but also fosters active student engagement in the learning process. These findings suggest that incorporating activity-based learning strategies such as RQA can serve as an effective alternative to improve the quality of higher education instruction

Abstract

Mampie Hamlet, West Sulawesi, is experiencing coastal abrasion, increasingly frequent tidal flooding, and water pollution that threaten the environment and community economy. Previous efforts, such as the installation of breakwaters, have not been effective in addressing these issues. This community service aims to increase community awareness and involvement in coastal conservation through a mangrove adoption system. The methods include focus group discussions (FGDs) with stakeholders, participatory visual-based training, and mangrove planting and monitoring at two locations. Four hundred forty-five mangrove seedlings were planted using an adoption system involving the community, schools, and universities. Monitoring over three months showed that 87% of the mangroves survived at the first location, while the second location experienced higher losses due to waste and environmental disturbances. From these results, the mangrove adoption system effectively increases community participation and planting success, although further support is needed in waste management and environmental awareness to maintain the achieved results.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dengan pendekatan STEAM terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VIII SMPN 2 Tinambung. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi eksperimen dan desain nonequivalent control group design. Sampel terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu kelas VIII-A sebagai kelompok kontrol dan VIII-B sebagai kelompok eksperimen, masing-masing berjumlah 30 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes keterampilan berpikir kritis berdasarkan indikator Facione (2015) yang meliputi analisis, evaluasi, menyimpulkan, menjelaskan, dan merefleksi, terdiri dari 20 soal pilihan ganda dan 5 soal uraian. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji independent sample t-test setelah memenuhi asumsi normalitas dan homogenitas. Hasil analisis menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (p < 0,05), yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PBL dengan pendekatan STEAM efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa

Abstract

In the implementation of higher education, building student independence in learning is an important part. In a higher education environment, students who can study independently will be better prepared to face changes in the dynamic and fast world of work. Development of student learning independence can be done by choosing a learning model that develops students' thinking skills and self-confidence. One way is to apply the inquiry learning model which is a learning model that is oriented towards students' ability to build their knowledge independently. This study aims to determine the effect of the inquiry learning model on student learning independence in the biology education study program at the University of West Sulawesi. This type of research is quasi-experimental research. This research was carried out in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 school year with a population of all fifth-semester students who programmed the Learning Innovation course by taking samples using a purposive sampling technique so that class A and class B became the research sample with a total of 58 students. The instrument used in this study was a learning independence questionnaire consisting of 5 indicators and 20 questions. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive analysis to determine the increase in the value of student learning independence and inferential analysis to test the hypothesis using the Anacova test. The results of the hypothesis test using Anacova obtained a significance value of 0.001 <0.05 so it can be said that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted which means that there is an influence of the application of the inquiry learning model on the learning independence of students in the Biology Education Study Program, Universitas Sulawesi Barat

Abstract

The inability of students to construct coherent arguments supported by scientific evidence in the discussion process shows that students' scientific argumentation skills are low in the Introduction to Education course. This problem demands improvements in the implementation of the learning process by implementing learning models that can train and develop students' scientific argumentation skills. The application of the Problem Based Learning model is a collaborative learning model which in theory can help students improve their argumentation skills. In this research, we will examine improving students' scientific argumentation skills through the Problem Based Learning learning model. This research is classroom action research (PTK) which was carried out in the odd semester of the 2023/2024 academic year with 22 research subjects. The research was carried out in two cycles, where each cycle consisted of planning stages, action implementation, observation and reflection. The results of the research showed that in cycle I there was an increase with an N-gain value of 0.05, which showed that the increase was still within the low criteria, so it was continued in cycle II which showed an increase with an N-gain value of 0.8, which means there had been an increase in the high category. So it is concluded that there is an increase in students' scientific argumentation skills who are taught using the Problem Based Learning learning model.

Abstract

Penggunaan media berperan penting dalam proses pembelajaran di kelas. Proses pembelajaran perlu menerapkan penggunaan teknologi dan informasi. Studi ini bertujuan untuk menciptakan media pembelajaran dalam bentuk aplikasi Android tentang materi virus untuk peserta didik kelas X SMA sekaligus mengevaluasi validitas, kepraktisan, dan keefektifannya. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model 4D, meliputi empat tahap: Define (Pendefinisian), Design (Perancangan), Development (Pengembangan), dan Dissemination (Penyebaran). Lokasi penelitian adalah SMA Negeri 3 Majene, Kecamatan Banggae Timur, Kabupaten Majene, Sulawesi Barat, dengan subjek penelitian terdiri dari 28 peserta didik kelas X MIPA 3 dan dua guru biologi. Validitas media pembelajaran berbasis Android dinilai oleh dua ahli menggunakan lembar validasi media dan materi, menghasilkan skor rata-rata 4,6 yang tergolong sangat valid. Kepraktisan diukur melalui angket respon guru dan peserta didik, dengan hasil 85,9% (peserta didik) dan 87,9% (guru), keduanya dalam kategori sangat praktis. Sementara itu, keefektifan diuji melalui tes hasil belajar, menunjukkan persentase 89,2% yang termasuk kriteria sangat efektif. Dengan demikian, media pembelajaran berbasis Android ini dinyatakan valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran.
