Abstract

This study aims to identify learning style profiles of sixth-grade students at SDN 6 Purwawinangun as the basis for implementing differentiated learning. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and a learning style questionnaire based on the Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic (VAK) model. Subjects consisted of 23 sixth-grade students. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results revealed that students have varied learning styles: 10 students (43.48%) are Visual-Auditory, 8 students (34.78%) have a combined (Visual-Auditory-Kinesthetic) style, 4 students (17.39%) are Visual-Kinesthetic, and 1 student (4.35%) is Auditory-Kinesthetic. These findings indicate that differentiated learning strategies need to be designed by considering the dominant learning style of each student. Teachers are recommended to apply multimodal instructional strategies that accommodate all three learning style categories to optimize the learning experience and student outcomes in elementary school.

Abstract

This study aims to compare student learning outcomes through the Discovery Learning model and the Cooperative Learning model of Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type on probability material in Grade VI elementary school. The research approach used is quantitative with an experimental method and within-subject design (repeated measures), where the same group of students received two sequential learning treatments. The research was conducted at SDN 6 Purwawinangun with a total of 23 students as research subjects using total sampling technique. The first treatment applied the Discovery Learning model on fair and unfair game comparison material, followed by a posttest. The second treatment applied the TGT model on probability comparison material for decision-making, followed by a second posttest. Data were collected through written tests and analyzed using SPSS. Descriptive statistics showed that the mean score of the Discovery Learning group was 73.91 (SD = 18.77), while the TGT group obtained a mean score of 81.30 (SD = 9.20). The Shapiro-Wilk normality test on the difference scores produced W = 0.924 with p = 0.081, indicating that the data was normally distributed. Therefore, the Paired Sample t-Test was used as the hypothesis testing, resulting in t-count = 2.494 with p = 0.021 (p < 0.05). The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference in student learning outcomes between the two models. The TGT model produced higher and more consistent learning outcomes compared to the Discovery Learning model. These findings suggest that collaborative and game-based learning approaches such as TGT can be more effective in improving elementary school students' understanding of probability concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a puzzle-based learning media integrated with local culture to address reading difficulties among Phase A students at SDN 100 Singgasari, Luwu Regency. Early reading skills are fundamental competencies in elementary education; however, many students still experience difficulties in recognizing letters, combining syllables, and understanding simple words. These challenges are influenced by low reading motivation, limited use of attractive instructional media, and a lack of contextual learning approaches in classroom instruction. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects of this study were 28 second-grade students and their teacher at SDN 100 Singgasari, Luwu Regency. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, observations, and learning outcome tests. The data were analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative techniques to assess the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the developed media. The results of the study indicate that the developed puzzle media is categorized as valid based on expert judgment, practical for use by teachers and students, and effective in improving students’ early reading skills. The integration of local cultural elements, such as traditional houses, local foods, and regional cultural symbols, successfully increased students’ motivation and engagement in learning. Therefore, the puzzle-based learning media integrated with local culture is considered an appropriate and innovative alternative for enhancing early literacy learning in elementary schools.
