Abstract

The aim of this research is to uniquely introduce the decorative motifs and endemic animals of Borobudur Temple (as a cultural heritage site and super-priority destination) through a doodling activity book, specifically targeting the 14–25 age group. The method used is a qualitative approach with a design thinking framework. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and product trials involving potential users. The research process included the identification of relief motifs (1,460 carvings) and endemic animals at Borobudur Temple, as well as the design of a doodling activity book based on data from questionnaires and interviews. Expert validation was carried out by a language expert, an activity book design expert, and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (as the policy holder of the super-priority destination). Product trials with respondents aged 14–25 resulted in positive responses. The outcome of the research is a tested and validated doodling activity book that serves as an interactive medium to introduce the visual richness of Borobudur Temple.

Abstract

This literature review analyzes the transformative potential of digital learning media in revitalizing Indonesian traditional music, with a particular focus on Gambang Kromong innovation within the framework of Society 5.0. Traditional music, as the foundation of cultural identity, faces significant threats from globalization and modernization, resulting in declining interest, especially among the younger generation. This approach examines how digital technologies can serve as a catalyst for the preservation, learning and dissemination of traditional music, transforming it from a marginalized status to one of contemporary relevance. The report synthesizes existing literature to identify key trends, benefits derived from the use of technologies such as Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), gamification, and online and social media platforms. In addition, the report discusses inherent challenges, including the digital divide, the need for increased educator competencies, and intellectual property rights issues, while highlighting opportunities for collaboration and global audience reach. The conceptualization of "Gambang Kromong 5.0" is proposed as a holistic model that integrates traditional essence with intelligent technological advancements in a human-centric manner, ensuring cultural survival and artistic relevance in the digital age.

Abstract

Entering the 21st century era, education is required to not only develop cognitive aspects, but also the character and life skills of students. One important ability that needs to be cultivated is empathy as the foundation of healthy and humanist social interaction. This article examines the role of dance appreciation in shaping students' empathy through a literature review approach. Dance appreciation is seen not only as an activity of observing performances, but also as a process of appreciating the meaning, culture, and emotions implied in dance movements. Through this process, learners not only train aesthetic sensitivity, but also develop critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity (4C) skills. In addition, dance appreciation can be a safe space for self-reflection, development of social awareness, and the formation of a more empathetic character. Thus, dance has a strategic contribution in answering the challenges of 21st century education, especially in building a cultured young generation and noble personality.

Abstract

This study aims to instill character values in children through the introduction of cross-cultural folktales, the creation of kamishibai as a narrative medium, and storytelling practice. The study uses a qualitative method with a participatory approach at RPTRA Kebon Sirih, Jakarta, involving 10 children aged 6-12 years as participants. Data were collected through observation and interviews, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model. The study consists of three main phases: (1) Introduction to folktales, which showed an average post-test score of 95, indicating that participants were able to recognize and distinguish cultural elements in Nusantara and Japanese folktales, (2) Creation of kamishibai, with an average post-test score of 92, showing that participants mastered the technique of storytelling visualization using kamishibai media, and (3) Storytelling method, with an average post-test score of 90, indicating that participants were able to tell stories using the kamishibai media they created themselves. The study concludes that using kamishibai is effective in introducing cross-cultural folktales and shaping children's character through experiential learning.
