Abstract

This research aims to develop a valid and practical Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based instrument that is used to measure or train students' critical thinking abilities. The research uses the Bord and Gall model research and development (R&D) method.  The research instruments are validation sheets (validation sheets from instrument experts and evaluation experts), questionnaires (teacher responses), and tests (effectiveness). The Second grade students (Class XI MIPA) of senior high school SMA Gajah Mada as subjects. Testing was carried out on student and biology teachers as respondents for the practicality of the module using student and biology teacher response questionnaire sheets. Based on the results of material expert validation, it was found that the expert validator's evaluation demonstrated the validity of the instrument by classifying it as appropriate for use based on an analysis of the material, construction, and linguistic aspects. This instrument also meets the reliability criteria. Multiple choice questions have a medium level of difficulty, good discriminating power

Abstract

In general, if students do not understand the concept of learning, it affects learning. Therefore, there is a need for teaching materials that convey to students the need to understand concepts when learning. This development research aims to produce student worksheets based on Socio Scientific Inquiry that are valid, practical, effective for students, student sheets, media and material expert validation sheets, as well as practicality sheets. Then the effectiveness sheets are in the form of post-test pretest sheets. Based on the data obtained, the validation of teaching materials had a score of 95.76 %, the results of material validation were 100 %, the teacher response results were 100% and the student response questionnaire results were 95.32 %. The effectiveness assessment resulted in an N-Get of 75.52 % in the high category. Therefore, it can be said that the Socio Scientific Inquiry of worksheet is available, useful, and efficient learning tool that can improve students' conceptual comprehension. However, additional research development can increase the topic of study and include biological learning materials not covered in this worksheet.

Abstract

Collaboration and critical thinking skills are part of the 21st-century skills that must be mastered and developed. Therefore, innovative teaching materials are needed to help develop students' critical thinking and collaboration skills. This development research aims to produce Team Games Tournament (TGT) based digital interactive modules that are valid, practical, and effective for students. The instruments used are needs analysis in the form of teacher interview guidelines and questionnaires for students, teaching material and material expert validation sheets, and practicality sheets. Then, the effectiveness sheet is in the form of a pretest post-test sheet. Based on the results of the data analysis, the teaching material validation obtained a score of 98.55%, the material validation results obtained a score of 96.73%, the teacher response questionnaire results obtained a score of 97.92%, and the student response questionnaire results obtained a score of 93.15%. The effectiveness assessment resulted in an average N-Gain score of 0.80 with a high category, and the results of student collaboration skills scored 91 with a very effective category. Therefore, the TGT-based digital interactive module is considered a feasible, practical, and effective learning tool, facilitating the development of students' collaboration and critical thinking skills. However, further development research can expand the material on biology learning that has not been covered in the development of this interactive digital module.Abstrak. Kemampuan kolaborasi dan berpikir kritis merupakan bagian dari keterampilan abad ke-21 yang perlu dikuasai dan dikembangkan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan bahan ajar yang inovatif yang dapat membantu mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kolaborasi siswa. Penelitian pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan modul interaktif digital berbasis Team Games Tournament (TGT) yang layak, praktis dan efektif bagi siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah analisis kebutuhan berupa pedoman wawancara guru dan angket untuk siswa, lembar validasi ahli bahan ajar dan materi, serta lembar kepraktisan. Kemudian lembar keefektifan berupa lembar pretest post test. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, validasi bahan ajar memperoleh skor 98,55%, hasil validasi materi memperoleh skor 96,73%, hasil angket respon guru memperoleh skor 97,92%, dan hasil angket respon siswa memperoleh skor 93,15%. Penilaian keefektifan menghasilkan rata-rata skor N-Gain sebesar 0,80 dengan kategori tinggi, dan hasil kemampuan kolaborasi siswa memperoleh skor 91 dengan kategori sangat efektif. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa modul interaktif digital berbasis TGT dinilai sebagai perangkat pembelajaran yang layak, praktis dan efektif, memfasilitasi pengembangan keterampilan kolaborasi dan berpikir kritis siswa. Namun demikian untuk penelitian pengembangan selanjutnya dapat memperluas materi pada pembelajaran biologi yang belum tercakup dalam pengembangan modul digital interaktif ini.

Abstract

ntroducing social life issues is one attempt to enhance student innovation and critical thinking. One of the models that integrates socio-scientific issues is the socio-scientific inquiry (SSI) model. The SSI learning model is a model with a social scientific issue that connects the communication relationship between science, technology, and society about the environment. This study aimed to study the influence of the SSI model supported by mind mapping on the critical thinking skills of senior high school (SMA) students in the context of the digestive system. This research is a quasi-experiment. Data is collected using observations and test instruments in the form of essays. The research population is the entire student body of the natural science (IPA) program at one of the Islamic senior high schools (MA) in the Dairi Sidikalang district, consisting of 120 students in three classes XI MIPA. This study contains data on critical thinking skills with independent sample tests, first with prerequisite tests, namely normality and homogeneity tests. The prerequisite test results obtained normal and homogeneous distributed data. The result of the t-test is a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.00. The sig. value is less than 0.05. This result means that if H0 is rejected, H1 is accepted, so it is concluded that there are differences in the critical thinking results of students due to the treatment of the SSI model. The results of this study showed that the critical thinking skills of eleventh-grade MA students were improved, as can be seen from the results of pretests and posttests in experimental and control classes. So, the SSI model is effectively used to improve the critical thinking of SMA or MA students.Abstrak. Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan inovasi pembelajaran dan berpikir kritis siswa adalah dengan menghadirkan isu-isu yang berkaitan dengan kehidupan sosial. Salah satu model yang mengintegrasikan isu socio saintifik adalah model Socio-Scientific Inquiry (SSI). Model pembelajaran SSI adalah model dengan isu isu socio saintifik yang dimana mengaitkan antara hubungan komunikasi antara ilmu ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan Masyarakat mengenai lingkungan sekitar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengkaji pengaruh model SSI yang didukung oleh mind mapping terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sekolah menengah atas (SMA), khususnya dalam konteks sistem pencernaan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen semu. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan observasi dan instrument test berupa essai. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa program IPA pada salah satu Madrasah Aliyah (MA) di Kabupaten Dairi Sidikalang sebanyak 120 siswa yang terdiri dari tiga kelas XI MIPA. Penelitian ini memuat data kemampuan berpikir kritis dengan uji independent sample test dengan uji prasyarat telebih dahulu yakni uji normalitas dan homogenitas. Hasil uji prasyarat diperoleh data berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Data hasil uji t test yakni nilai sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,00. Nilai sig. (2-tailed) lebih kecil 0,05. Hal ini berarti jika H0 ditola, maka H1 diterima, sehingga disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan hasil berpikir kritis siswa akibat pemberian perlakuan model SSI. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan dampak bahwa keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI MA mengalami peningkatan, dapat dilihat dari hasil pretest dan posttest pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas control. Maka, model SSI efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa SMA atau MA.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kesadaran masyarakat kecamatan Batang Serangan terhadap kepedulian lingkungan. Untuk  menganalisis bagaimana kondisi lingkungan di daerah tersebut. Metode  penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Populasi dari penelitian ini ialah masyarakat yang tinggal di kabupaten langkat, Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi dan wawancara. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket dengan menggunakan skala linier dengan pilihan jawaban ya dan tidak.  Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa tingginya tingkat pemahaman serta kesadaran masyarakat akan kepedulian lingkungan, mereka menerapkan 3R serta mampu memisahkan sampah organik dan anorganik. Mereka peduli akan sampah dilingkungan sekitar, Untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat pentingnya kebersihan umum serta kepentingan individu yang luas.salah satu kunci kebersihan adalah kesadaran.

Abstract

Background: The problem in the learning process at Madrasah Aliyah Medan City lies in the use of reference sources, specifically PowerPoint (PPT) modules, that have not been optimally linked to the mastery of 21 St-century skills. This condition has an impact on the learning process, which has not been able to optimally develop students' critical, creative, collaborative, and communicative thinking skills that are very much needed in the current era. This study aims to develop the P5RA module as a learning medium that can improve students' mastery of  21St-century skills. Methodology: The research method used is Research and Development  (R & D) with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) to produce a valid and practical module. Validity testing was conducted by involving material experts and media experts, who assessed aspects of the content's feasibility, language, presentation, module size, cover design, and overall module content. Findings: The results of the validity test showed that the percentage of assessment by material experts was 92.91 % and by media experts was  89.92 %. This validity test stage aims to refine the module to meet the criteria for very high validity. The practicality test was conducted through a field trial of the product involving teachers and facilitators as practitioners. The practicality assessment included aspects of the module's attractiveness, usefulness, and relevance to 21 St-century skills. The practicality test results reached a percentage of 91.46 %, categorized as efficient, requiring only minor revisions. Contribution: Based on these results, the developed module has met the feasibility and practicality requirements for use as a learning medium in P5RA activities, supporting students' mastery of 21 St-century skills

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the Scientific Inquiry learning model on students' critical thinking skills on the subject matter of the respiration system in XI grade. This research methodology uses quantitative methods with the type of quasi experiment. The study population amounted to 150 students from XI grade Senior High School 1 Sei Suka. The sample of this study consisted of 2 classes determined by cluster random sampling technique, namely X grade as an experimental class using the Scientific Inquiry learning model and X grade as a control class using conventional learning. The instruments used in this study are critical thinking ability test instruments totaling 11 essay test questions that have been validated by one validator and have been tested for item validity. The results showed that the average critical thinking skills of students in the experimental class taught using the Scientific Inquiry learning model were in the high category and the average critical thinking skills of students in the control class taught using the conventional learning model were in the low category, this is based on the average postest value of the experimental class which is 77.3443 and the control class which is 37.4957. The results of hypothesis testing using Independent Sample t-test statistics show that there is an effect of the Scientific Inquiry learning model on students' critical thinking skills on the material of the respiration system in XI grade.Keywords: critical thinking skills of students, scientific inquiry learning model, conventional learning

Abstract

Background: The mastery of science literacy has a very important role in daily life, both for students and society as a whole. Mastery of science literacy provides significant advantages, both at the individual and collective levels. They purpose of this studying as to describe the levels of science literacy ability of high school student on Madrasah Aliyah Tahfizil Qur'an of the North Sumatra Islamic Centre Foundation especially ecosystem materials, both in understanding and mastering scientific concepts related to ecosystems, as well as to assess critical thinking skills, ability to communicate scientific findings, and environmental awareness. Methodology: The method used in this study is to use a type of cross-sectional quantitative research research. The sample used was 60 students with a sampling technique using a total sampling technique. The research instruments us a that studying is an they to if science literacy questions in the form of multiple choices. This study's data analysis methodology employs quantitative descriptive analytic approaches to examine students' science literacy outcomes, which are represented as percentages. Findings: Results obtained on the ability level of second grade students in Madrasah Aliyah Tahfizil Qur'an of the North Sumatra Islamic Centre Foundation is in the medium category, with an average score of 72. This research shows the need for a more relevant learning approach to improve the understanding and application of ecosystem concepts in a scientific context. The importance of integration between the national curriculum and the religious approach applied in madrassas so that students not only understand the concept of science theoretically, but also can apply it in daily life. Contribution: This research is expected to participate in designing more effective science learning strategies in religion-based madrasah schools.
