Abstract

One of the disruptions in fluency is the lack of smoothness in speech that does not correspond to the speaker's age, and this lack of smoothness affects the rhythm and average number of words produced when speaking. This research aims to identify disruptions in fluency rhythm experienced by a 27-year-old client with stuttering. The research method employed is a case study (qualitative descriptive). The research implementation in this case begins with observation, client interviews, and testing, including reading, storytelling, and two-way communication tests. The results of this study conclude that the client's diagnosis is beginning stuttering accompanied by secondary stuttering behaviors such as eye movements, movements downward, hand clenching, and toe tapping. The client also exhibits a feeling of fear and moderate to severe anxiety, with the ICD-10 code for stuttering being F98.5. Stuttering syndromes include core behaviors such as stoppages, repetitions, and prolongations. The total stuttering index for the client during reading is 8.9%, during storytelling is 15.06%, and during two-way communication is 10.28%. Based on the data assessment, the author suggests reducing stuttering by strengthening the client's modalities, such as fostering a strong desire to learn, parental support for the client's recovery, and motivation from the client to reduce stuttering.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of communication problems in children with Down syndrome. Communication problems on the subject are related to the use of language in their environment. The data obtained from the subject's parents, teachers and tutors experienced problems in expressing their own desires. The purpose of this study is to help subjects communicate with their environment. Communication uses tools that are made based on the needs and abilities of the current subject. The tool created is called "Wofal". This tool is in the form of modified images with an attractive shape and easy to use subjects. The first stage of using the tool introduces the images that the subject will use in communicating. Second, the subject was asked to stick to his wishes and choose an image. The picture consists of the subjects' daily activities at home and at school. After intervention to the subject, the results were obtained. According to teachers, parents and tutors, this tool makes it easier for subjects to communicate. Usually teachers, tutors and parents do not understand what the subject wants. After this tool the crying behavior of the subject became less. So, this tool makes it easier for subjects to communicate in their environment.

Abstract

Developmental disorders of joint attention or attention are the main characteristics of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Therefore, it is essential to develop these skills in early intervention efforts. Empowering parents and teachers is essential for success in increasing the attention of children with ASD; parents and teachers play an essential role in programs for treating children with ASD. This service explores techniques for empowering parents and teachers to increase attention to children with ASD. Establishing communication and cooperation between parents and teachers is carried out by the management of the Ananda Padang Autistic Partner School. The methods used in this community service activity include lecture, question and answer, discussion, and practice methods. The aim is to provide education to increase the understanding of parents and teachers in increasing the attention of children with ASD. The activity was carried out from 13 and 14 October 2023 with nine parents and nine teachers. There was an increase in scores on the post-test after clients were given education about increasing attention in children with ASD, namely from an average of 2.78 to 4.80. Parents and teachers also felt satisfied with the activities carried out, with an average score for material quality of 6.05, media of 5.60, and benefits of activities of 5.20. The output of this activity is an increase in the knowledge of parents and teachers after receiving education, namely an increase in the average post-test score. Abstract

Komunikasi merupakan salah satu kemampuan esensial dalam kehidupan manusia, tetapi bagi anak penyandang gangguan spektrum autisme (ASD), kemampuan ini menjadi tantangan besar. Anak dengan ASD sering kali mengalami hambatan signifikan dalam perkembangan bahasa, baik secara verbal maupun nonverbal. Hambatan tersebut berdampak langsung pada kemampuan mereka untuk berinteraksi sosial dan belajar. Seiring dengan tantangan yang ada, metode komunikasi berbasis visual seperti Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) terbukti memberikan solusi yang efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan PECS (pictures exchange communication system) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi anak Autis Spectrume Disorder. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian tipe pra-eksperimen dengan pendekatan Single Subject Design (SSD) model A-B karena penelitian akan menguji suatu sample dan diterapkan untuk menguji efektivitas intervensi melalui PECS. Pada hasil pre test menggunakan PECS dalam komunikasi anak autis di SLB Khansa Kota Padang mendapatkan rata – rata skor 1 (tidak bisa) dan untuk anak autis di Klinik MERCUBAKTIJAYA Padang mendapatkan skor rata-rata 1 (tidak bisa). Setelah diberikan intervensi kepada 15 anak dengan menggunakan PECS didapatkan hasil meningkat dari hasil pre test. Hasil post test di SLB Khansa Kota padang mendapatkan rata-rata nilai 3 (bisa) dan pada Klinik MERCUBAKTIJAYA Padang mendapatkan rata-rata nilai 3 (bisa). Hal ini disebabkan karena materi yang diberikan kepada anak adalah hal yang dibutuhkan olehnya. Sehingga dalam penerapan program PECS pada anak bisa mendapatkan nilai yang meningkat. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan komunikasi komunikasi anak Autis Spectrume Disorder.

Abstract

Penurunan fisiologis pada lansia khususnya pada organ bicara biasa mengakibatkan lansia mengalami kesulitan berbicara karena pita suara dan otot kotak suara (laring) melemah, kesulitan membuat kata terdengar dengan benar. Gangguan ini bisa disebabkan oleh kelemahan otot, stroke, cedera otak, atau demensia. Gangguan bicara yang umum meliputi: Afasia, Apraksia, Disartria Gangguan komunikasi social, Gangguan menelan (disfagia) dan Gangguan bahasa serta Gangguan komunikasi kognitif. (Candra, 2019). Menurut WHO, 2023 Jumlah lansia yang mengalami ganguan suara 19,2 %. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat adanya pengaruh perawatan pita suara oleh lansia di rumah dengan gangguan komunikasi lansia. Metode pada penelitian ini adalah melakukan intervensi pada sekelompok lansia yaitu melakukan health education tentang perawatan pita suara lansia di rumah di kelurahan Batuang Taba Kecamatan Lubuk Begalung kota Padang dengan populasi 89 orang dan sampel 10 orang yang dilakukan pada tanggal 16 - 18 Desember 2024. Hasil dari penelitian setelah dilakukan uji pairet sampel t-test yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini, menunjukan nilai p value = ( p<0,05) maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh pemberian healt education tentang perawatan pita suara di kelurahan Batuang Taba Kecamatan lubuk Begalung Kota Padang.Setelah dilakukan penelitian diharapkan lansia memahai dan mau melaksanakan perawatan pita suaranya sehar- hari di rumah.
