Abstract

Science and technology development in the 21st-century has been demanding educators to provide learning activities which stimulate students’ critical thinking skills. This study aimed to find out the correlated factors of the students’ critical thinking skills as well as of which was the strongest determinant in leveling the skills. The subject of this correlational research was 112 undergraduate students in the Department of Biology Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang who took Botany course. There were four variables measured in this study, namely academic ability, mastering concepts, analytical skill, and critical thinking skills. The data of academic ability was obtained from students' cumulative index in the previous semester while the three other variables were measured using final exam test. All of the variables then analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that the three predictor variables (mastering concepts, academic ability, and analytical skill) gave effective contributions toward students’ critical thinking skills, with the percentages of 3.84%, 32.25%, and 54.26% respectively. Therefore, the results of this study could be a basic reference in designing learning process which empower the students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Proses pembelajaran biologi di kelas dapat dilakukan dengan pendekatan ilmiah melalui penyelidikan. Pembelajaran biologi seharusnya dilakukan dengan memberikan kesempatan pada siswa untuk terlibat secara aktif menggunakan keterampilan proses dalam menemukan konsep dari fenomena ilmiah dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh scientific inquiry terhadap hasil belajar biologi. Penelitian eksperimen ini menggunakan nonrandomized control group pretest-posttest design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA di Malang, 32 siswa sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan 32 siswa sebagai kelompok kontrol. Instrumen penelitian berupa soal pretes-postes dan lembar observasi. Hasil belajar siswa dianalisis menggunakan analisis kovarian dan uji t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa scientific inquiry secara signifikan meningkatkan hasil belajar biologi siswa.

Abstract

This purpose of this research was to determine the influence of scientific inquiry based learning on science process skills. This experimental research was used nonrandomized control group pretest-posttest design. Population was all students of class XI SMAN 7 Malang. Samples in this study consists of two classes, XI MIPA 1 as experimental group and XI MIPA 2 as the control group. The independent variable was scientific inquiry based learning. The dependent variable was science processes skills. The research result show that scientific inquiry based learning significantly increase the student’s science process skills (p<0,05). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh scientific inquiry based learning terhadap keterampilan proses siswa. Penelitian eksperimen ini menggunakan nonrandomized control group pretest-posttest design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 7 Malang Sampel pada penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu XI MIPA 1 sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan XI MIPA 2 sebagai kelompok kontrol. Variabel bebas adalah pembelajaran scientific inquiry based learning. Variabel terikat adalah keterampilan proses. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa scientific inquiry based learning secara signifikan meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains (p<0,05).

Abstract

Kemunculan virus Corona yang diawali dari tahun 2020 lalu membuat semua segi kehidupan terdampak. Penerapan protokol kesehatan menjadi salah satu cara yang paling ampuh untuk menekan angka kasus covid-19 di Indonesia. Tujuan dilaksanakan edukasi pola hidup bersih dan sehat pada anak-anak adalah untuk membimbing agar anak-anak lebih sadar dan berhati-hati dalam melakukan kegiatan di tengah pandemi sebagai bentuk pencegahan terhadap virus Corona. Pada kegiatan ini dilakukan edukasi terhadap anak-anak dengan metode pemberian materi, games dan praktik mencuci tangan dengan benar. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa 90% anak dapat menjawab pertanyaan dan menyusun kata terkait pola hidup bersih dan sehat sehingga anak-anak mengetahui cara cuci tangan dengan baik, memilah sampah dan menjaga perilaku hidup sehat di rumah, di lingkungan serta di sekolah. Kegiatan ini juga diharapkan dapat mendorong kesadaran masyarakat secara umum untuk menerapkan Pola Hidup Bersih dan Sehat demi meminimasilasi dan mencegah penularan virus Corona; membantu pemerintah dalam menggalakkan program pola hidup bersih dan sehat di masa pandemi; dan menginisiasi keberlanjutan program pola hidup bersih dan sehat di masyarakat. The emergence of the Coronavirus, which began in 2020, has affected all aspects of life. Implementing health protocols is one of the most effective ways to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. The purpose of implementing clean and healthy lifestyle education for children is to guide them so that they are more aware and careful in carrying out activities during a pandemic as a form of prevention against the Coronavirus. In this activity, education was carried out for children to provide materials, games, and direct practice. After attending the education, the children become aware of washing their hands, sorting waste, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle at home, in the neighbourhood, and at school. This activity is also expected to encourage public awareness, in general, to implement a Clean and Healthy Lifestyle to minimize and prevent the transmission of the Coronavirus; assist the government in promoting the Clean and Healthy Lifestyle program during the pandemic, and initiate the sustainability of the Clean and Healthy Lifestyle program in the community.

Abstract

Online learning can contribute to increased academic procrastination, often linked to low self-efficacy and perceived task value. This study investigates academic procrastination, self-efficacy, and task values from a gender perspective using a cross-sectional approach with students in their 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th semesters. An independent t-test assessed differences between male and female students. Findings showed no significant differences in academic procrastination across genders in any semester; however, notable differences in self-efficacy and task value emerged only in the 5th semester. The lack of significant differences in procrastination is attributed to similarities in environmental, psychological, and social factors, alongside common challenges in time management and distractions. Male and female students demonstrated comparable self-efficacy due to shared academic settings, social support, and media influences, while similar task values stemmed from common interests and experiences. The differences in the 5th semester likely arise from increased academic demands and evolving social dynamics, including gender stereotypes. Future research should employ qualitative methods, such as interviews or focus groups, to gain deeper insights into student experiences. Longitudinal studies could also track changes in self-efficacy and task value over time for a more comprehensive understanding. Targeted interventions to enhance self-efficacy and task value could be particularly beneficial in semesters with significant differences, thereby addressing academic procrastination more effectively.

Abstract

Climate change literacy and pro-environmental behaviour have been proven to be one of the solutions to address climate change in the student’s perspective from several countries. Therefore, it is crucial to gain a comprehensive understanding of the relation between these two variables for the impact on climate change in Indonesia. The objective of this research was to analyse the relationship between climate change literacy and pro-environmental behaviour among senior high school students in Indonesia. A correlation study was conducted using a survey method. The samples were students from the X, XI, and XII grades of senior high school, collected using proportionate stratified random sampling. A total of 386 students from three schools participated in this survey. The test comprised a climate change awareness instrument to examine climate change literacy. Furthermore, a questionnaire was used to measure pro-environmental behaviour among high school students. Additionally, interviews were conducted to obtain comprehensive data. The results demonstrated a positive and highly significant relationship between climate change literacy and pro-environmental behaviour among senior high school students. This research highlighted that awareness of climate change causes and government policies related to climate change influenced pro-environmental behaviour.

Abstract

AbstrakSumber daya alam dibutuhkan manusia untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya, sehingga menjadi faktor terjadinya pencemaran lingkungan. Penerapan perilaku pro-environmental merupakan salah satu usaha untuk mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan. Sekolah berkewajiban untuk menumbuhkan kepedulian lingkungan siswa. Jenjang pendidikan yang tinggi akan menambah pengetahuan siswa dan berdampak pada perilaku. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara pengetahuan pencemaran lingkungan dengan perilaku pro-environmental berdasarkan jenjang kelas, menganalisis pengetahuan pencemaran lingkungan berdasarkan jenjang kelas, serta menganalisis perilaku pro-environmental berdasarkan jenjang kelas. Metode yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian korelasional. Populasi penelitian menggunakan siswa kelas X dan kelas XI MIPA. Penentuan jumlah sampel dihitung menggunakan rumus slovin dan banyak sampel tiap kelas ditentukan menggunakan proportionate stratified random sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan antara pengetahuan pencemaran lingkungan dengan perilaku pro-environmental berdasarkan jenjang kelas, hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,991 pada kelas X dan 0,777 pada kelas XI MIPA, tidak ada beda pengetahuan pencemaran lingkungan berdasarkan jenjang kelas, hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,051, dan terdapat beda perilaku pro-environmental berdasarkan jenjang kelas, hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,01.

Abstract

Kurangnya variasi sumber belajar yang mampu melatih keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi (Higher Order Thinking Skills/HOTS) sering kali menjadi hambatan dalam optimalisasi pembelajaran biologi di sekolah menengah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul pembelajaran berbasis model Search, Solve, Create and Share (SSCS) pada materi Keanekaragaman hayati dan Virus untuk melatih HOTS, mendeskripsikan validitas kelayakan penggunaan modul pembelajaran serta mendeskripsikan respon siswa setelah menggunakan modul pembelajaran yang telah dikembangkan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian berupa Research and Development (R&D), dengan model pengembangan ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation dan Evaluation). Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 36 siswa pada kelas X-B di SMA Negeri 2 Rembang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul pembelajaran berbasis model SSCS pada materi keanekaragaman hayati dan virus berhasil dikembangkan untuk melatih HOTS siswa kelas X SMA. Modul pembelajaran ini dinilai sangat berkualitas oleh para ahli (materi, media, metodologi) dan praktisi lapangan yang berturut-turut memiliki persentase sebesar 80,25%, 80,60%, 89,33%, dan 88,33% serta penilaian oleh ahli soal HOTS dinyatakan telah memenuhi kriteria HOTS. Selain itu, peserta didik juga memberikan tanggapan positif dengan persentase nilai sebesar 85,89% dalam kategori sangat layak digunakan. Berdasarkan interpretasi kriteria kelayakan, maka modul pembelajaran yang dikembangkan sangat layak untuk dijadikan sumber belajar biologi kelas X SMA. Modul berbasis model SSCS ini merupakan inovasi baru dalam pendidikan yang dirancang untuk melatih HOTS siswa dengan efektivitas yang teruji terbukti lebih baik daripada metode sebelumnya dalam meningkatan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa.
