Abstract

The company providing loading and unloading services in Surabaya is a company that handles the loading and unloading of special domestic containers and the process is carried out at the terminal as an operational dock. With the current conditions, one of the port equipment facilities located at the Container Yard (CY) terminal and actively functioning is the Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) which consists of 9 tools, 2 of which are Battery RTGs, especially the TTB 13 Battery RTGs which were only used last month. April 2023. However, when this tool was used, potential risks were found in the tool performance data and the failure to achieve production performance in terminal operations in the period April-December 2023. So this research analyzes these risks using the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method in determining priorities risk and then determine proposed risk management strategies. The results of the research are based on the risk indicator with the highest RPN value, namely the spreader is easier to shake, has a value of 153.56 and risk management strategies is the proposed Human Resources management strategy must adapt more quickly to new tools through training and familiarization programs. So, the TTB 13 Battery RTG tool can work optimally and achieve the targets set by the company.

Abstract

PT. BBI (Boma Bisma Indra) is one of the manufacturing companies, working based on orders from consumers, which starts from the design process (Engineering To Order). The products produced include pressure vessels, condensers, cranes and heat exchangers. The problem that arises is that production has been experiencing delays, one of which is due to labor. Could be because the composition of the number of workers is not right or the workload is not yet suitable. To find out these problems, resource leveling methods are used to optimize / evenly distribute the number of human resources used so that there is no significant difference from the number of workers in each activity, and avoid the possibility of excess labor. In its application this method can use the PDM (Precedence Diagram Method) method. After the leveling of human resources (resource leveling) will then be performed calculations of human resource needs using work load analysis to determine the workload on each work activity. The results showed a labor of 1 person marking, 2 people leave, 2 people drilling, 2 people assembly, and finishing 6 people. With the existing workload produced more labor, namely marking 1 person, cutting 5 people, drilling 3 people, assembling 6 people, and finishing 21 people.

Abstract

A company engaged in metal casting is building a steel casting project. The layout design in the project has several problems, including the utilization of the area is not optimal, does not pay attention to the proximity relationship between facilities so that excessive movement in material handling occurs. This can affect the productivity of the company. This study aims to determine the total distance of material handling movements so that the selected alternative layout will be obtained. The selected layout can increase efficiency by 4.06% in the total distance of material handling movements. The results of the 5S evaluation using the respondent response sheet on the selected layout have a total score of seiri 4.47, seiton score 4.43, seiso score 4.50, seiketsu score 4.20 and shitsuke score 4.30. Overall, the score is 4.38, so based on the Likert scale it can be categorized as very good.

Abstract

Industrial competition in the era of globalization causes every company engaged in manufacturing to continue to develop quality to meet customer satisfaction. PT RPC Indonesia is one of the manufacturing companies engaged in the production of fiberglass, especially in piping components. PT. RPC Indonesia implements a make to order and flowshop production system which has a function to increase production capability and production services by focusing on machine utility and accuracy of production completion to match the set time through scheduling methods.Campbell Dudek Smith (CDS) and Nawaz Enscore Han (NEH) methods are the proposed methods in this research. These two methods will be compared with the company's existing method to determine the best and optimal scheduling method by finding the minimum makespan value. The results of this study show that both methods can be used by companies as alternative scheduling models in minimizing total production time. Scheduling with the CDS method produces a makespan of 3834.15 hours and is 1069.34 hours faster than the existing method. Likewise, the NEH method produces a makespan of 3820.63 hours and is 1082.86 hours faster than the existing method. Based on these criteria, the most recommended method for the company is theNawaz Enscore Ham (NEH) method.

Abstract

The use of synthetic fibers in the fabrication of polymer composite materials has a negative impact on the environment. Natural fibers such as palm oil waste and banana pseudostem can be an alternative material for synthetic fibers because they are more economical, high specific strength, and environmentally friendly. The alkali treatment needs to be carried out on fibers for removal of lignin, hemicellulose, and impurity so that they can improve interfacial bonding between the fiber and the polymer matrix. The alkali treatment was carried out through fiber immersion in conditions without NaOH, 5% wt NaOH solution, and 10% wt for 24 hours. Fiber before and after alkalization were analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-Ray Difraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) methods. The results showed that alkali treatment was effective in removing the components of lignin, hemicellulose, and impurities in fiber. The result of the SEM showed that the treated fiber surface had a cleaner surface than treatment without fiber. The alkalitreatment process can improve the crystallinity and crystallinity index of the fiber due to amorphous component removal of lignin and hemicellulose. The TGA result of palm oil fiber with alkali treatment and without alkali treatment produced weight loss of 88,2% and 98,4% respectively. This showed that the alkali treatment can increase the thermal resistance of the palm oil fiber.
