Abstract

Background: Anemia is a condition in which the number of red blood cells or the capacity of red blood cells to carry oxygen is insufficient to meet physiological needs. Anemia pregnant women are pregnant women with Hb levels <11.0 g/dl who are examined at the first visit (K1). Pregnant women with anemia have a higher risk of giving birth to babies with iron deficiency anemia which can last throughout the child's early years and inhibit the growth of the child's brain cells and other body cells, resulting in delayed growth and development. Purpose: To determine the average value and influence on the knowledge and attitudes of second trimester pregnant women before and after being given educational video counselling. Methods: This quasi-experimental study used a one group pretest-posttest design. The sample in the study was 58 pregnant women. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The research instrument consists of a questionnaire about questions aimed at respondents regarding anemia causes, characteristics, impact, prevention, how to overcome, treatment, good habits to prevent anemia. Result: The results showed that there was a significant effect on the average value before and after being given educational video counselling to second trimester pregnant women at the Salembaran Jaya Health Center, Tangerang Regency. Conclusions: Health education for pregnant women is very important so that pregnant women are expected to participate in every counselling activity to increase knowledge and attitudes to prevent anemia. characteristics, impact, prevention, how to overcome, treatment, good habits to prevent anemia.

Abstract

ASEAN data in 2022 stated that 76,543 postpartum mothers experienced breast engorgement. 17.2 million postpartum mothers worldwide experience breast pain problems while breastfeeding. In Indonesia, the incidence of breastfeeding mothers experiencing breast engorgement reached the highest figure of 37.2% and 16% of working breastfeeding mothers experienced breast engorgement. Breast engorgement is interpreted as increased venous and lymph flow in the breasts to prepare for lactation. This is due to overdistension of the lactation ducts, causing breast swelling pain, and breast engorgement accompanied by an increase in body temperature. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest two-group design. The sample consisted of 30 postpartum mothers who experienced breast engorgement pain and were divided into 2 intervention groups, namely aloe vera compresses and cabbage compresses, the intervention was carried out for 14 days. The instrument used was the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Data were analyzed using the Paired T-Test and Independent T-Test. In the Independent Sample T-Test, the p-value of the VAS scale for the aloe vera group was 0.019 <0.05 with an average score of 2.0 and the VAS scale for the cabbage group was 0.037 <0.05 with an average score of 1.87.

Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy has a bad impact and can lead to death for both mother and baby. From the maternal side, a pregnant woman who suffers from anemia during pregnancy or antepartum is susceptible to abortion, premature delivery, antepartum bleeding and is also susceptible to infection. Regular consumption of tomatoes is said to help prevent anemia. The content of vitamin C in tomatoes is needed by the body to maximize the absorption of iron from other foods. This study aims to determine the effect of tomato juice consumption on the increase in hemoglobin levels in third trimester pregnant women with anemia in Ciawi Hospital. The design in this study was a quasi-experimental (quasi-experimental) using a two-group pre-test and post-test design. The population in this study were 45 pregnant women in the third trimester with anemia who performed ANC at Ciawi Hospital in 2022, taken by purposive sampling technique based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The number of samples used is 30 respondents. The control group consisted of 15 respondents and the intervention group consisted of 15 respondents. Data analysis used paired sample T-Test. From the results of the study, it is known that the average initial hemoglobin level in the experimental group is 9.833 g/dl which is classified as mild anemia, while the final average hemoglobin in the experimental group is 12,913 g/dl which is classified as not anemic. The p-value of 0.000 < (0.05) means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, namely the effect of consumption of tomato juice on the increase in hemoglobin levels of pregnant women. There is a significant effect of consumption of tomato juice on the increase in hemoglobin levels in third trimester pregnant women with anemia. It is hoped that this can be used as a lesson in preventing anemia using tomato juice as an alternative, especially for pregnant women

Abstract

Breech position is one of the four main indications for caesarean section worldwide. This breech location can occur in 3-4% of all deliveries. A breech delivery gives a poor prognosis because it increases the risk of complications for the mother and fetus. There are two ways to manage a breech pregnancy, namely knee chest and external version, but there are physical exercises that can provide abdominal space so that it gives the baby the opportunity to rotate, namely prenatal yoga activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference between prenatal yoga and knee chest in changing the position of the breech fetus to normal. The methodology of this research is using post test with control group design. The study population was pregnant women in the third trimester with a breech position as many as 42 people. The sampling technique used purposive sampling as many as 30 people into samples which were divided into 2 groups, namely 15 experimental group (prenatal yoga) and 15 control group (knee chest). The research instrument used the results of Ultrasonography and observation sheets. Data analysis used the Mann-Whitney Test. The results showed that there was a difference in the average time needed to change the position of the fetus by doing prenatal yoga and knee-chest. Prenatal yoga takes a shorter time (10 days) while knee-chest takes longer (15 days) so that prenatal yoga is more effective for pregnant women in improving fetal presentation. Bivariate results showed a ( p-value of 0.002 < 0.005). Conclusions based on the results of the study there was a difference in the average time required to change the position of the fetus by doing prenatal yoga and knee-chest. Prenatal yoga takes a shorter time while knee-chest takes longer to help turn the fetal presentation into a head so that prenatal yoga is more effective in helping to improve fetal presentation.

Abstract

Many members of the community do not have sufficient knowledge about the benefits of herbs and how to use them properly. This often leads to distrust of the effectiveness of herbs as an alternative treatment. The habit of consuming modern medicines is more dominant than herbs. This is triggered by the perception that modern medicine provides results faster. Limited access to information about the types of herbs and their benefits, as well as limited access to quality herbal products in some areas. In 2024, there were 56 PCIM members studying in Thailand and around 130 Indonesian students studying internationally at Khoen Kaen University (KKU). Around 40% of these students experienced physical complaints such as colds, nausea, vomiting and dizziness due to physical conditions, weather and other things. The use of herbs/herbal medicine as an effort to maintain health and treat various diseases that have been passed down from generation to generation. This legacy is expected to continue to be utilized by the younger generation, especially international students, as an alternative to increase endurance and overcome physical complaints. Indonesia and Thailand have similarities in the use of herbs as medicine, including ginger, melon, nutmeg, cinnamon, chili, cloves, galangal, lemongrass, honey and others. The implementation of community service was carried out in Mueang District, Khon Kaen, Thailand, on August 28, 2024 with 20 participants. After being given counseling and practice in making herbal drinks, participants were able to learn the types, benefits and how to process spices as herbal drinks to be used as safe and effective alternative medicine.

Abstract

Academic stress refers to mental and emotional pressure arising from educational demands, commonly experienced by students, especially medical students due to their complex academic workload. Prolonged stress can trigger an increase in cortisol levels, which promotes glucose release into the bloodstream, potentially raising blood sugar levels. This study aimed to examine the relationship between academic stress levels and random blood glucose levels among medical students at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta as an early effort to detect the risk of prediabetes. A cross-sectional design was used with 70 respondents. Academic stress levels were measured using a Heart Rate Variability Analyzer, while random blood glucose levels were assessed using a gluco test strip. Results showed that all respondents had normal blood glucose levels, with varying stress levels: 30.0% were categorized as excellent and 12.9% as bad. Spearman correlation test indicated no significant relationship between academic stress and random blood glucose levels (p = 0.134; r = 0.181). These findings suggest that the absence of a significant correlation may be influenced by the respondents' young age and optimal metabolic condition, which could mitigate the physiological impact of stress on blood glucose levels.
