Abstract

Polemics of radicalism continue to emerge in early childhood education and radical movements have explored and involved in early childhood. Strengthening moderate Islam in early childhood must be carried out from an early age through educational arrangements that are programmed and adapted to the stages of child development characteristics so that children have moderate values and prevent children from having radical ideas later in life. The purpose of this study was to determine the strength of religious moderation in early childhood as an effort to prevent radicalism during the Covid-19 pandemic. The golden period of early childhood is the most appropriate time to implement the values of religious moderation so that later a strong Islamic foundation is formed in children so that they can ward off radicalism in the future. During this pandemic, learning activities, especially to strengthen understanding of religious moderation in schools, are carried out online or blended learning which is a combination of face-to-face and the use of information technology in implementation. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses the Mile and Huberman model, namely data reduction, display, and verification. The results of this study indicate that strengthening religious moderation in early childhood is an effort to prevent radicalism during the Covid-19 pandemic. The strengthening of religious moderation consists of four components, namely instilling national commitment, tolerance, introducing and preserving local culture, and anti-violence. The strengthening of religious moderation is given so that children have moderate values and are a form of prevention against radicalism in the future.

Abstract

Social-emotional skills are the foundation of early childhood development that determine the success of social interactions and emotional regulation in later stages of development. Initial observations at Sejahtera Larangan Luar Pamekasan Kindergarten showed that 67% of children in group B had social-emotional skills that were not yet optimally developed, especially in the areas of cooperation and emotion management. This study aims to determine the effect of angklung games on the social-emotional skills of 5-6-year-old children at Sejahtera Larangan Luar Pamekasan Kindergarten. The research subjects consisted of 15 children. The method used was quantitative research with a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design. The data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results of the study show an increase in the average score from 7.33 to 22.73 with a t-value of -22.680, p<0.001. The absolute value of the t-count (22.680) is greater than the t-table (2.145), so Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning that angklung games have a significant effect on the social-emotional skills of 5-6 year old children at Sejahtera Larangan Luar Pamekasan Kindergarten. This study recommends integrating angklung games into the early childhood education curriculum as a local culture-based learning strategy to optimize children's social-emotional development.

Abstract

Early childhood Quran memorization has become a rapidly growing tradition in Islamic education in various countries. The talaqqi method as a face-to-face learning approach has been practiced since the time of the Prophet Muhammad, but specific adaptations for children aged 5-6 years have not been explored in depth. Children in the golden age phase have optimal memory capacity but limited attention spans, so the conventional talaqqi method requires modification in accordance with their cognitive development characteristics. The literature gap indicates the need for qualitative research on the pedagogical mechanisms of the talaqqi method adapted to the developmental characteristics of early childhood. This study explores the practice of the talaqqi method in developing the ability of 5-6-year-old children to memorize the Quran, focusing on the adaptation of instructional techniques, structured repetition strategies, and the role of parental involvement. A qualitative case study was conducted at Madrasah Manbaul Uloom Malaysia for four months (June-September 2025), involving 15 children aged 5-6 years, five tahfiz teachers, and ten parents through participant observation, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis. The adaptive talaqqi method optimizes memorization through three pedagogical mechanisms: teacher-student interaction creates accurate articulation modeling while building emotional closeness, segmentation of short verses with structured repetition according to children's working memory capacity, and teacher-parent collaboration creates consistency in the learning environment. Specific instructional techniques include flexible learning duration, the use of Hijaiyah flashcard visual media, a star reward system, and differentiated learning based on the child's individual learning speed. Adapting the talaqqi method based on the cognitive development characteristics of 5-6-year-old children effectively optimizes Al-Quran memorization skills through a developmentally appropriate practice approach. The study recommends implementing a maximum teacher-student ratio of 1:5, a tajwid training program for parents, a formative evaluation system based on differentiation, and a multi-site comparative study to identify variations in the contextual adaptation of the talaqqi method in different countries.

Abstract

Early childhood listening skills need to be developed through media that is contextual to the socio-cultural environment. This study aims to explore the use of audio-visual media based on Madurese local wisdom to develop the listening skills of 5-6 year old children. This descriptive qualitative study involved 43 children, 2 classroom teachers, and the principal of RA Al Munawarah Jungcangcang Pamekasan as informants. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that audio-visual media containing Madurese folk tales, traditional songs, and traditional clothing improved children's focus, understanding of information, memory, and active participation. Implementation constraints included limited local content, technical problems, language barriers, and classroom management, which were overcome through content development and scaffolding reinforcement. The integration of local wisdom in audio-visual media effectively developed listening skills while strengthening children's cultural identity. Implications included the development of a digital repository of local content and the strengthening of teachers' technological-pedagogical competencies.
