Abstract

Early use of technology always has advantages and disadvantages in social interactions. Some neighborhood organizations believe that technology may promote accountability, pragmatism, security, and convenience. Other groups, meanwhile, believe that gadgets are prone to criminality. Gadgets must be present since they are an unavoidable aspect of life. Use intended for young children requires parental supervision. Similarly, technology can be employed as a teaching tool. The study's goal was to investigate how Islamic education ideals are taught to young children through the use of technology. This study used descriptive qualitative research as its methodology. ways for gathering data through observation, interviews, and documentation. Ten parents of young children participated as informants in the study. Data reduction and exposure stages, as well as inference and data verification, are all used in technical analysis of the data. By using three different procedures and data sources, the veracity of the data is tested. The study's findings demonstrate that: First, early childhood care can be provided using either an authoritative parenting style, which limits children's independence while granting them authority, or a permissive parenting style, which pampers them. Second, using technology as media is one way that parents today are instilling Islamic education values which includes aspects of aqidah, worship (ibadah), and morals (akhlak) in their children. Third, gadgets have a negative impact on early childhood including cyberbullying, pornography, blasphemy and speaking impolitely in cyberspace, then children think instantly, are less active, addicted to gadgets and result in a consumptive lifestyle.

Abstract

Pre-school education has a crucial role in forming the basis of children's development. This research aims to explore and describe teaching with stories: a narrative-based approach in a fun and child-friendly pre-school learning process at Nur Faqih Kindergarten, East Karawang. This approach is not only directed at delivering learning material, but also creates a fun and child-friendly learning experience and utilizes the power of stories as a learning tool to increase children's enjoyment, involvement and understanding. Qualitative research methods are used with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation analysis. The research results show that the use of a narrative-based approach in Nur Faqih Kindergarten makes a positive contribution to the development of cognitive, social and emotional skills of pre-school children. Stories integrated into learning not only increase children's interest, but also support language development, creativity and problem solving. This narrative-based approach not only creates a fun learning environment, but also helps children understand moral and ethical values through the stories told. Thus, this research contributes to the development of more innovative and interesting learning strategies at the pre-school level.

Abstract

Purpose – Financial literacy in Indonesia remains uneven, while early childhood financial education tends to emphasize cognitive skills and marginalize religious and cultural dimensions, particularly in Muslim-majority contexts. This study examines the integration of Islamic values and Madurese local wisdom through transformative learning in early childhood financial literacy education. Design/methods/approach – This qualitative multi-site case study involved 15 participants from two Islamic kindergartens in East Java, comprising eight teachers, two principals, and five parents. Data were collected over six months through non-participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. Data analysis followed Braun and Clarke’s reflexive thematic analysis. Trustworthiness was enhanced through methodological triangulation, member checking, and peer debriefing. Findings – The analysis identified three interrelated themes. The first concerns a pedagogical paradigm shift from teacher-centered to student-centered learning, mediated by the use of local wisdom as experiential learning resources, through the Beyond Centers and Circle Time model. The second theme highlights experiential entrepreneurship development through activities such as cooking classes, Market Day programs featuring Madurese products, and structured charitable practices. The third theme addresses the integration of values-based financial literacy, in which Islamic economic principles, including halal–haram considerations, charity, and social responsibility, are embedded in everyday financial learning activities. Across these themes, implementation was characterized by variation in children’s understanding, ongoing teacher mediation, and developmental constraints. Research implications/limitations – The findings indicate that values-integrated transformative learning can strengthen early childhood financial literacy by connecting economic concepts with ethical and cultural meanings. However, generalizability is limited by the small sample, Madurese cultural context, six-month duration, and qualitative design. Practical implications – Early childhood financial literacy in Muslim-majority settings may be enhanced through integrating Islamic values and local culture, supported by teacher capacity building, family–school collaboration, and pedagogical flexibility. Originality/value – This study contributes to values-integrated financial literacy and transformative pedagogy by showing that ethical, cultural, and economic learning develops through negotiated classroom practices rather than linear processes, with relevance across diverse sociocultural contexts.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a hybrid parenting model that integrates Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory with Islamic values to enhance early childhood development in the digital era. The shift in parenting due to technological advances has created challenges for Muslim families in maintaining spiritual identity while adapting to modern media. Through a phenomenological approach, data was collected via in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation from 15 Muslim families in Graha Kencana Residence, Pamekasan, Madura. The study identifies three hybrid parenting models: authoritarian-hybrid, democratic-hybrid, and permissive-hybrid. These models integrate Bandura’s four stages of observational learning (attention, retention, reproduction, motivation) with Islamic parenting methods (Al-Mukalatah, Al-I'tiyad, and Al-Ta'allum). The results demonstrate that parents can use technology to model positive behavior, helping children adapt to digital media while preserving religious values. This research provides a practical framework for Muslim families to effectively navigate the digital age, balancing technological engagement with religious teachings. It contributes to the field by offering a culturally relevant and spiritually grounded parenting model, which can be adapted by Muslim families worldwide to foster both digital literacy and moral integrity in children.

Abstract

The degradation of Tengka ethical values among the younger generation in Madura highlights the urgency of preserving culture from an early age. English language learning is often separated from local cultural values, which has the potential to weaken children's cultural identity. This study aims to analyze the process of transforming Tengka values (abhental syahadat, asokon pribadi, andhap asor) and find an effective transformation model through the English for Young Learners program for character building in early childhood at RA Sabilillah Sampang. The research used a qualitative case study approach for four weeks in August 2025 with subjects including one principal, four teachers, twenty students in group B, and ten parents. Data collection techniques included non-participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The results of the study produced the BRIDGE (Building Respectful Identity through Dynamic Global Education) Model, which consists of five components: building a foundation of values, reflecting values in language, integrating values and language, developing character, and fostering cultural identity. The data showed that 78% of children were able to use English expressions of politeness that reflected the value of andhap asor, 75% demonstrated self-control (asokon pribadi), and 70% expressed firmness of belief (abhental syahadat). The BRIDGE model offers a systematic framework for integrating local wisdom with foreign language learning in early childhood education.
