Abstract

Abstract Background: Gross motor skills greatly affect the development of children. If a child experiences motor delays, then the child will experience developmental and growth delays (Permana, 2013). In minimizing errors in meaning (miss understanding), children need to develop pragmatic aspects so that their language skills develop properly (Sari, 2021). Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between the crawling phase and pragmatic abilities in preschool-age children at Dharma Wanita Nambakan Kindergarten, Kediri. Method: This type of quantitative research with a cross sectional design. The data collection technique uses total sampling with a sample of 30 respondents. The data that has been collected will be analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Spearman Rank statistical test. Research Outcome: Based on the results of Spearman's Rank analysis test, the value of ρ (sig.) is 0.036 or the value of ρ (sig.) < 0.05, then Ha (alternative hypothesis) is accepted, indicating that there is a relationship between the paying phase and children's pragmatic abilities. The strength of the correlation or relationship between the two variables is in the range of 0.2 to < 0.4, which is included in the weak category. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the crawling phase and the pragmatic abilities of preschoolers at Dharma Wanita Nambakan Kindergarten, Kediri.  Keywords: Crawling Phase, Pragmatic Ability, Preschool Aged Children

Abstract

Background: Entering old age, the elderly often face various problems, one of which is impaired cognitive function. Some factors that influence the decline in cognitive abilities in the elderly include gender, education level, occupation, nutritional status, and comorbidities that can interfere with the nervous system, such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease. The problem of dementia in the elderly is an important concern that requires effective prevention and treatment. Dementia in the elderly can include several aspects, such as orientation, registration, attention and calculation, memory, and language. Physiotherapy has an important role in maintaining and improving body movement function, so that a person can remain active independently. Aerobic physical activity can activate the hypothalamus to synthesize corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF), which will affect the release of neurotransmitters such as acetylcholine, serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine that improve memory consolidation. Objective: To determine the effect of aerobic low impact exercise on changes in cognitive function in the elderly with risk factors for dementia at STW Ria Pembangunan Cibubur. Methods: This study used a pre-experimental method with a one group pre-test and post-test approach. A total of 12 people who have met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Abstract

Background: Elderly individuals with stroke risk factors increasingly experience hyperglycemia, while structured physical activity such as low-impact aerobic exercise remains underutilized as a strategy to control fasting blood glucose levels. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the effect of aerobic exercise on fasting blood glucose reduction in elderly individuals with stroke risk factors. Methods: The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest approach. The study involved 20 elderly participants at Posbindu Kenanga, divided into an intervention group (aerobic exercise) and a control group (dietary education). The aerobic exercise was conducted three times a week for four weeks. Data were collected through fasting blood glucose measurements before and after the intervention using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. Results: This study showed that the mean fasting blood glucose level in the intervention group significantly decreased from 125.7 mg/dL to 104.4 mg/dL (p = 0.004). In contrast, the control group exhibited a slight increase from 133.9 mg/dL to 134 mg/dL (p = 0.934). The intergroup comparison revealed a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant effect of aerobic exercise on fasting blood glucose reduction compared to the control group. Conclusions: This study concludes that aerobic exercise effectively reduces fasting blood glucose levels in elderly individuals at risk of stroke. Physical activity, such as aerobic exercise, improves insulin receptor sensitivity and enhances glucose utilization by active muscles, contributing to reduced blood glucose levels. Structured physical exercise and education are recommended as preventive strategies for managing stroke risk in elderly populations. Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a common health problem among the elderly and increases the risk of stroke, heart failure, and kidney failure. Isometric Handgrip Training (IHT) is a simple and practical non-pharmacological intervention that may help reduce blood pressure; however, its effectiveness still needs further investigation. Jatirahayu Public Health Center is one of the health centers with a relatively high number of hypertension cases, reaching 252 cases. Objectives: To determine the effect of Isometric Handgrip Training on blood pressure among elderly patients with hypertension. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 20 respondents divided into an intervention group (n=10) and a control group (n=10) selected using purposive sampling. The intervention group received IHT exercises three times per week for four weeks, while the control group only received health education through leaflets. Blood pressure was measured using a digital sphygmomanometer. Results: The paired sample t-test showed a significant reduction in systolic blood pressure in the intervention group with a mean difference of −10.40 mmHg (p=0.004) compared to −1.50 mmHg in the control group, as well as a reduction in diastolic blood pressure with a mean difference of −6.80 mmHg (p=0.016) compared to −0.80 mmHg in the control group. The independent sample t-test showed a significant difference between the intervention and control groups in systolic blood pressure (p=0.008), but not in diastolic blood pressure (p=0.051). Conclusion: Isometric Handgrip Training was effective in reducing systolic blood pressure among elderly patients with hypertension, but it did not show a significant effect on diastolic blood pressure after four weeks of intervention.
