Abstract

ABSTRACTThe high unemployment rate among college graduates highlights the need for entrepreneurship-based competencies that focus not only on short-term training but also on organized and ongoing mentoring. The Young Entrepreneur Development Program through the Batam College Business Incubator was implemented as an effort to strengthen the capacity of students and graduates to start and develop businesses professionally. The implementation strategy is carried out through four main stages: entrepreneurship classes, bootcamp training, entrepreneurship training, and entrepreneurship training programs. Each program is designed to build an entrepreneurial mindset, develop specific trade skills, and provide access to systems, coaches, and encourage trade law enforcement. The results of this program demonstrated significant progress in entrepreneurial knowledge perspectives, entrepreneurial development skills through the Student MSME culinary bazaar, and readiness to develop business plans. Of the 30 initial participants, 10 successfully advanced to the training program and demonstrated a more focused increase in entrepreneurial competencies. This program not only influenced changes in students' entrepreneurial talents but also strengthened the role of universities as operators of regional economic strengthening. Therefore, the entrepreneurship training program proved to be a key approach in creating competitive young entrepreneurs, especially in the Batam region as an economic and industrial area. Abstract

This review explores the benefits of Mesenchymal Stem Cell (MSC) therapy concerning Down syndrome (DS), cognitive and behavioral disorders, and other related physiological complications. Two pediatric patients with DS participated in this study, receiving MSC therapy over six months through a qualitative case study approach. Patient A was a 5-year-old male experiencing moderate developmental delays and recurrent infections. Patient B was a 6-year-old female facing mild intellectual disabilities and difficulties in social interaction. The initial and follow-up assessments conducted at baseline, three months, and six months after treatment revealed that patients A and B significantly improved in linguistic abilities, attention, social interactions, and motor coordination. Moreover, enhancing inflammatory indices, such as CRP and IL-6, indicated effective regulation of the immune response and reduced inflammation. Both patients adhered to the therapy without any reported side effects. Thus, the findings highlight the potential neuroprotective and immunomodulatory effects of MSC therapy, suggesting it may serve as a viable adjunct treatment for DS. However, due to the limited number of participants and the relatively short observation period, some limitations, such as the small group size and brief study duration, should be acknowledged, necessitating further larger-scale trials to validate these results and establish protocols. This study adds to the existing literature on MSCs in neurodevelopmental disorders and aims to provide a foundation for exploring new treatment options for DS.

Abstract

This study addresses the limited empirical evidence on how human resource management (HRM) practices promote organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) through job satisfaction within the petrochemical industry, a strategic sector where voluntary employee behavior is essential for operational safety and organizational sustainability. Grounded in Social Exchange Theory, the study aims to examine the direct effect of HRM practices on OCB and the mediating role of job satisfaction among employees of petrochemical companies in Cilegon, Indonesia. A quantitative explanatory survey was conducted involving 223 employees selected through proportional stratified random sampling from seven petrochemical companies. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0. The findings reveal that HRM practices significantly enhance job satisfaction and OCB, while job satisfaction also exerts a significant positive effect on OCB. Furthermore, job satisfaction partially mediates the relationship between HRM practices and OCB, indicating that positive HRM practices encourage discretionary employee behaviors both directly and indirectly through improved workplace satisfaction. These findings extend Social Exchange Theory by demonstrating the psychological mechanism through which HRM practices foster positive employee behavior in a high-risk industrial setting. Practically, the study highlights the importance of strengthening compensation, rewards, and employee-centered HRM policies to cultivate higher organizational citizenship behavior.

Abstract

Healthcare workers (HCWs) in remote archipelagic regions bear a disproportionate workload that threatens both their psychological wellbeing and the quality of primary care. This study examines the effect of workload on burnout and HCW performance at community health centres (Puskesmas) in remote island districts of Riau Islands Province, Indonesia, positioning organizational support as a moderating variable. Grounded in the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) model, Conservation of Resources (COR) theory, and Organizational Support Theory (OST), a quantitative cross-sectional survey was administered to 186 HCWs across 18 Puskesmas in Natuna, Lingga, and Kepulauan Anambas, selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. Workload was measured with the NASA-Task Load Index, burnout with the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-HSS), performance with a validated 20-item instrument, and organizational support with the Survey of Perceived Organizational Support. Moderated-mediation analysis (PROCESS Model 59, 5,000 bootstrap samples) showed that workload significantly increased burnout (β = 0.512, p < 0.001) and reduced performance (β = −0.374, p < 0.001), with burnout partially mediating the relationship (indirect effect = −0.189, 95% CI [−0.261, −0.121]). Organizational support significantly buffered both the workload–burnout path (β = −0.284, p = 0.003) and the workload–performance path (β = 0.231, p = 0.011). The study's novelty lies in demonstrating an actionable buffering mechanism in DTPK settings and proposing an integrated organizational-support intervention model as a policy solution. Because organizational support can be strengthened quickly and at low cost through supervisory responsiveness, workload rationalisation, recognition, and wellbeing support it provides district health offices in DTPK settings with a fast and affordable intervention lever to protect HCW performance where structural workforce solutions remain slow and costly.
