Abstract

Several toddlers in Indonesia face developmental challenges, including delays in fine and gross motor skills, hearing impairments, speech delays, and cognitive issues. One of the main factors contributing to these problems is the limited ability of families to provide the proper stimulation needed for child development. In this context, the role of Pos Pelayanan Terpadu (Posyandu) cadres becomes essential. Cadres with good skills, high motivation, and consistent enthusiasm are needed to support the success of the Posyandu program, especially in early childhood developmental screening. This community service activity was designed to provide basic training for Posyandu cadres, with a primary focus on enhancing their ability to stimulate and detect early signs of developmental delays in children. The training was held on May 4, 2025, at the Mu'thi Jaya Indonesia Foundation Meeting Room and attended by 30 Posyandu cadres. An evaluation was conducted using pre- and post-test questionnaires to assess the knowledge and skills of the participants before and after the training. The evaluation results showed a significant improvement in the cadres' knowledge and skills related to early detection and stimulation of child development. Data analysis revealed a p-value of 0.074, indicating a substantial increase in understanding after the training. However, continuous support is necessary to ensure that early detection practices and child stimulation continue to be implemented effectively in the field. Routine monitoring and evaluation are also crucial to assess the long-term impact of this program on children's development in the community, as well as to ensure that the Posyandu program continues to function effectively in supporting the growth and development of children, particularly during the critical early years of life.

Abstract

Plantar fasciitis is a common musculoskeletal condition and a leading cause of chronic heel pain, often disrupting daily functional activities. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of combined ultrasound therapy, stretching, and strengthening in reducing pain, improving range of motion, muscle strength, and gait function in a patient with left-sided plantar fasciitis. A case study was conducted on a 55-year-old female diagnosed with left plantar fasciitis based on clinical assessment and MRI. The physiotherapy intervention was performed over six sessions within four weeks and consisted of ultrasound application (1 MHz, 1 W/cm², 10 minutes), gastrocnemius-soleus stretching, and strengthening exercises for intrinsic and extrinsic foot muscles (towel curl and theraband squat). Evaluations included pain intensity (VAS), range of motion (goniometer), muscle strength (MMT) and functional ability (FADI questionnaire). After six sessions, pain decreased from VAS 6 to 3, range of motion and muscle strength improved (MMT 3 to 4) and FADI score increased from 59% to 65%. These findings demonstrate that the combined therapy provided meaningful clinical improvements in a short period. The combination of ultrasound, stretching, and strengthening is effective in reducing pain and improving foot function in plantar fasciitis. This study supports multimodal physiotherapy as an efficient and clinically applicable rehabilitation strategy.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Children with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) often experience limitations in cardiorespiratory capacity and gross motor skills, affecting their independence and social participation. This activity aimed to implement an educational video on adaptive karate-based stretching and breathing to improve cardiorespiratory function and motor coordination. The programme was conducted at Yayasan Asih Budi, involving 21 participants, teachers and Karate instructor. The intervention consisted of a five-minute educational video demonstrating adaptive karate stretching movements, followed by breathing and basic karate exercises. Evaluation was conducted through participants observation and interviews with teachers and Karate instructor to assess effectiveness and engagement. The educational video increased enthusiasm and participation among participants. Simple movements, such as hand lifting and breathing, were well-followed, though faster transitions from standing to sitting posed challenges. Verbal guidance played a key role in maintaining understanding and attention. Teachers found the video effective as a learning medium but recommended slower pacing and repeated movements. The implementation of an adaptive karate-based stretching and breathing video proved effective in improving motor coordination, fitness, and confidence among children with intellectual disabilities. Combining audio visual materials with verbal guidance presents a promising approach to inclusive learning. Keywords: Intellectual Disability, Educational Video, Cardiorespiratory, Adaptive Karate, Gross Motor Skills.
