Abstract

Creative thinking skills in 21st-century learning have become essential competencies that students must possess; however, these skills have not been fully explored within the learning process, resulting in suboptimal learning outcomes. Therefore, an alternative instructional model is needed that can actively engage students in the learning process. One such model is Project-Based Learning (PjBL). This study aims to determine the impact of the PjBL model on students' creative thinking abilities and cognitive learning outcomes. The research was conducted at SMAN 11 Kota Jambi using a quantitative method. The research design employed was quasi-experimental, specifically the Non-randomized Control-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The subjects were 10th-grade students (Phase E), selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using One Way MANCOVA. Results from the analysis indicate that the PjBL model has a significant impact on students' creative thinking and cognitive learning outcomes, showing a moderate effect on creative thinking skills and a strong effect on cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study investigates factors influencing students’ acceptance and use of a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) e‑logbook in biology education at Universitas Jambi, using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The PjBL e‑logbook was implemented in core courses of the Biology Education Study Program to support structured documentation, monitoring, and reflection on project work. An explanatory survey design was employed with 133 undergraduate students in biology education who had used the e‑logbook for at least 4 weeks. Data were collected using a UTAUT-based questionnaire covering performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), facilitating conditions (FC), behavioral intention (BI), and the PjBL e-logbook use behavior (UB). Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS‑SEM) was used to assess the measurement and structural models. The results show that PE (β = 0.38, p < .001), EE (β = 0.21, p = .018), and SI (β = 0.16, p = .049) significantly predict BI, whereas FC has a positive but non-significant effect on BI (β = 0.11, p = .148). Together, these UTAUT constructs explain 52% of the variance in BI. BI strongly predicts the PjBL e‑logbook use behavior (β = 0.56, p < .001), and FC also has a modest direct effect on UB (β = 0.19, p = .028), with the model explaining 39% of the variance in UB. The findings highlight the central role of perceived usefulness, ease of use, and social influences in promoting intention, and confirm the importance of both intention and facilitating conditions for actual e‑logbook use. Practical implications for designing and scaling PjBL e‑logbooks in teacher education at Universitas Jambi and similar institutions are discussed.

Abstract

Indonesia has a wealth of biodiversity in the form of various types of fungi, one of which is the black ear fungus (Auricularia polytricha) which is known to contain chemical compounds with the potential to inhibit the growth of pathogenic fungi. This study aims to determine the effect of black ear fungus extract hair tonic on the growth of Malassezia furfur and the best concentration in inhibiting the growth of M. furfur. This type of research is a quantitative study with an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 6 treatments, namely: P0: hair tonic brand X, P1: hair tonic without extract, P2: hair tonic extract black ear fungus with a concentration of 10%, P3: 30%, P4: 50%, and P5: 70% with 4 repetitions. The parameters observed were the diameter of the inhibition zone indicating antifungal activity with the best concentration, as well as the hair tonic evaluation test (organoleptic test, pH test, viscosity test, and irritation test). The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA and continued with the DNMRT test with a confidence level of 95%. The results showed that black ear fungus extract hair tonic had an effect on the growth of M. furfur. The results of the DNMRT test showed that P0 was significantly different from other treatments. Treatment P1 was also significantly different from other treatments. Hair tonic extract concentrations of 10% (P2), 30% (P3), and 50% (P4) were not significantly different. Hair tonic with the highest concentration of 70% (P5) was significantly different from other treatments and had a very strong antifungal category. The conclusion of this study is that there is antifungal activity of black ear fungus extract hair tonic on the growth of M. furfur, and the best concentration of antifungal hair tonic is 70%.
