Abstract

Adolescence is a period of rapid growth and development, both physically, psychologically and intellectually. Adolescent reproductive health problems include premarital sex, early marriage, early pregnancy, drugs, and HIV/AIDS. WHO (2015) states that around 21 million teenage girls become pregnant every year and almost half (49%) experience unwanted pregnancies. Another problem that affects adolescent health is anemia. According to WHO, the prevalence of anemia in Indonesian women is 23.9%, which has an impact on stunted physical growth, behavioral and emotional disorders, decreased productivity, impaired mental and intellectual development, as well as decreased body immunity and morbidity. Along with physical and psychological changes, teenagers must adapt to the changes that occur to them. During the menstrual period, the problem of dysmenorrhea appears, which has an impact on the daily activities carried out by teenagers at school. The Community Service that will be carried out is the Formation and Training of Adolescent Health Post Management (PoKeRja) and Providing Health Education to all students. The results of implementing this activity showed that before providing education, more than half had sufficient knowledge (53.8%) and after providing education, they had good knowledge (59.6%) regarding health in adolescents. The Adolescent Health Post has been established with support from partner schools SMA 5 Muhammadyah and SMPN 1 Rancaekek as well as students who are administrators of the adolescent health post at their school.

Abstract

The emergence of nutritional problems in children is closely related to the preparation of a woman's health and nutrition to become a prospective mother, in this case, a young woman. The results of the Nutrition International survey in 2018 found cases of anemia in young women in West Java by 41.93%, this is in line with the target coverage of giving blood-added tablets to adolescent girls which is still low (25.2%) and still below the target of West Java. (52%). Intervention efforts are needed to prevent anemia by optimizing the provision of iron-containing foods in addition to giving blood-added tablets. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of beetroot ice cream and red guava on the hemoglobin levels of adolescent girls. The method used is a quasi-experimental approach with a one-group pre-post design approach. The sample in this study was 30 respondents with a purposive sampling technique with inclusion criteria of mild and moderate anemia who did not suffer from a disease that could cause anemia. Determination of anemia by measuring hemoglobin levels using the POCT (Point of Care Testing) method. The analysis technique uses frequency distribution, normality test, and bivariate test using the Wilcoxon test through SPSS computer software. The results showed that all respondents (100%) had mild anemia before being given beetroot and red guava ice cream. There is a significant change with p-value 0.000 < alpha value (0.05). It can be concluded that giving beetroot ice cream and red guava if consumed regularly and appropriately can reduce the incidence of anemia, so it is hoped that this can be used as a policy toward intervention in adolescent girls with anemia.

Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a critical developmental period marked by significant physical, psychological, and social changes. An imbalance between energy intake and expenditure during this stage can lead to nutritional disorders, including underweight and overweight conditions. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between stress levels, picky eating behavior, and physical activity with Body Mass Index (BMI) among adolescent girls in Bandung Regency. Methods: This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design involving 106 randomly selected high school female students. Data were collected using standardized questionnaires to assess stress levels (DASS-42), picky eating behavior (modified CEBQ), and physical activity (PAQ-A), along with direct anthropometric measurements to calculate BMI. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used. Results: Stress level (p = 0.012; OR = 3.13), picky eating behavior (p = 0.003; OR = 5.42), and physical activity (p = 0.018; OR = 0.29) were significantly associated with BMI status. The findings highlight that a combination of stress, eating behavior, and physical activity plays a crucial role in influencing the nutritional status of adolescent girls. Conclusion: A comprehensive approach involving education, nutritional counseling, and promotion of active lifestyles is highly recommended within the school environment. Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a critical period where energy balance affects nutritional status. An imbalance between energy intake and expenditure during this stage can lead to nutritional disorders, including underweight and overweight conditions. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between stress levels, picky eating behaviour, and physical activity with Body Mass Index (BMI) among adolescent girls. Methods: This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design involving 106 randomly selected high school female students. Data were collected using standardized questionnaires to assess stress levels (DASS-42), picky eating behaviour (modified CEBQ), and physical activity (PAQ-A), along with direct anthropometric measurements to calculate BMI. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used. Results: Most respondents were aged 18–21 years (67.9%), with high stress levels (73.5%), picky eating behaviour (83%), and physical inactivity (65.1%). Bivariate analysis found significant associations between stress levels (p = 0.012) and picky eating (p = 0.003) with BMI, where both increased the risk of BMI imbalance. Physical activity showed no significant relationship (p = 0.118). Multivariate analysis confirmed significant associations between stress (OR = 3.13, p = 0.012) and picky eating (OR = 5.42, p = 0.003) with BMI, with physical activity serving as a protective factor (OR = 0.29, p = 0.018).Conclusion: This study concludes that stress levels, picky eating behaviour, and physical activity significantly influence the Body Mass Index (BMI) of adolescent girls. High stress levels and picky eating increase the risk of BMI imbalance, while adequate physical activity serves as a protective factor.

Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that in 2019, there were 303,000 maternal deaths worldwide, with 99% of them occurring in developing countries. According to the Ministry of Health, the maternal mortality rate in Indonesia was 305 per 100,000 live births in 2012-2015, dropping to 240 per 100,000 live births in 2019. However, this figure is still high compared to developed countries which have a maternal mortality rate of 14 per 100,000 live births. The postpartum period is a critical period for mothers, where 60% of maternal deaths occur after delivery and 50% of these deaths occur in the first 24 hours of the postpartum period. Complications during the postpartum period occur in 73% of cases, but not all of them result in maternal death. Primigravida is a term used to describe a woman who is pregnant for the first time. According to WHO data, the maternal mortality rate for primigravida women is higher than for multigravida women. The most common causes of maternal death in Indonesia are bleeding, hypertension during pregnancy, and infection. The Ministry of Health is working to improve the health service system to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, including during the Covid-19 pandemic. The aim of this study was to measure the level of self-care agency in primigravida postpartum mothers before and after using mobile health "Sehat Postpartum".
