Abstract

Currently, the distribution of zakat is usually carried out consumptively to meet the basic needs of mustahiq (zakat recipient). Consumptive zakat provides a short-term effect and a dependency effect for asnaf (mustahiq). Therefore, zakat institutions can begin to develop sustainable productive zakat schemes for the welfare of mustahiq. The aim of the research is to design a program and implementation model of the Asnaf Entrepreneurship Program (AEP) in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analytical methods through literature studies. The AEP program is aimed for asnaf who meet the criteria of the needy and the poor and are physically and mentally able to run a business. Furthermore, the asnaf are given business assistance by zakat institutions. Assistance can be in the form of a capital loan with a qardh contract. Then, business assistance can be in the form of consulting, training, monitoring to achieve a profitable and sustainable business. AEP is implemented using the concept of collaborative management. Several zakat institutions may build an AEP compartment to support the implementation of AEP. Mustahiq also can create a community based on the type of business or place of residence. AEP has challenges in its implementation, but has great opportunities, not only to benefit asnaf but also to have a multiplier effect on the Indonesian economy

Abstract

Islamic banking in Indonesia has shown consistent growth, making profitability a crucial indicator of financial health and competitiveness. This study examines the effect of non-performing financing (NPF), financing-to-deposit ratio (FDR), and debt-to-equity ratio (DER) on return on equity (ROE) at BCA Syariah during 2015–2023. Using a quantitative associative design, we obtained 36 annual observations from financial statements and applied panel regression to evaluate both simultaneous and partial effects. The results indicate that NPF, FDR, and DER jointly influence ROE. Partially, NPF exerts no significant effect, FDR has a significant negative impact, while DER shows a positive but insignificant relationship with ROE. The dominance of FDR highlights the central role of liquidity management compared to credit risk and capital structure. The novelty of this study lies in its contrast with prior findings, where NPF is typically found to significantly reduce profitability. In BCA Syariah’s case, strong risk management and stable financing quality appear to mitigate the adverse effects of NPF, making liquidity pressure (FDR) the primary determinant of profitability. Theoretically, this extends the literature on Islamic banking profitability by showing that the impact of financing risk may be context-specific and shaped by internal bank governance. Practically, the findings suggest that BCA Syariah should continue improving financing quality while prioritizing stricter management of third-party funds, thereby strengthening profitability and enhancing its competitive position in the Islamic banking sector.

Abstract

Fair distribution of wealth is a manifestation of justice in Islam. In contrast to the pre-existing distributive justice theory, Islam regulates justice in a comprehensive way. The writing is processed using the literature study method obtained from various books, journals, and other related references. Distributive justice in the Islamic perspective is not related to the benefits that will be obtained in this world, but also in the hereafter. Islam demands maximizing benefit for the common good and minimizing harm. The concept offered by Islam is able to be a balancer as well as a solution for equality and justice in a social order.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a conceptual framework to explore how review timeliness, review quantity, and review valence impact online purchasing decisions for halal food among Gen Z consumers. Utilizing purposive sampling, the study surveyed 400 Gen Z Muslims and applied structural equation modeling-partial least squares (SEM-PLS) for analysis. The results reveal that review timeliness, review quantity, and review valence significantly and positively influence online purchasing decisions for halal food within this demographic. Notably, this research offers a novel contribution by focusing specifically on the effects of these online review factors on Gen Z's halal food purchasing behaviors, a context often overlooked in broader studies. The findings are limited to respondents from Tasikmalaya, suggesting that future research could expand to include samples from various regions or countries to improve generalizability. Companies are encouraged to enhance the positive perception of their products to better engage this market segment.

Abstract

The mosque has so far been known only as a place of worship such as prayer and recitation by Muslims. History records that during the time of the Prophet, the mosque was also the center of government, economic center, education center, and others. Some mosques are also tourist areas that provide more economic value so that they can improve people's welfare. However, tourist areas often cause problems related to waste, water use, and others. Understanding of the circular economy that can provide sustainable benefits is still not widely known and implemented, including for managing mosques. This study aims to analyze and propose an optimization model for mosque-based circular economic empowerment to achieve a sustainable economy. The research uses a qualitative approach with literature studies and in-depth interviews with related parties. The results of the study show that empowering mosques based on a circular economy will not only have a positive impact on places of worship but also the economic, social, and environmental sectors. For example, managed mosque waste can provide economic value. In addition, the use of ablution water can be reused for land irrigation and fish farming. The synergy between the government, universities, communities, and the industrial world can be carried out to implement this mosque-based circular economy. The results of this study can be used as a basis for recommendations and a pilot project for implementing mosque-based circular economic empowerment.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries in the world that has a large potential for energy and mineral resources. Therefore, this potential can be managed by the government for social welfare. This study aims to develop a financing model using Sukuk as the main source of financing instruments. The scheme used in this sukuk financing is Public-Private Partnership. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a descriptive analysis method through a literature study. The results of the study demonstrate that the design of the development model for financing human resource development can be executed using the Government and Business Entity Cooperation scheme supported by funds from Sukuk. This scheme offers several benefits for related ministries, business entities, the community, and human resources working in the energy and mineral sector. The government obtains additional capital and partners in conducting human resource education and training. Business entities generate income from the services provided and acquire additional capital. Communities can participate in investing through the development and financing model of Sukuk, and the number of beneficiaries of education and training increases.  It is hoped that the financing development model with the KPBU and sukuk schemes can be welcomed and responded to by the government by issuing a legal umbrella as the basis for its implementation.  For future research, it is also necessary to design the next mechanism to link the return on investment with the revenue earned from project operations.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the strategy of developing digital green assets in green waqf with a pentahelix approach. Through this strategy, poverty and challenging environmental issues can be addressed by ensuring a balance between economic development and environmental preservation. This research uses descriptive-qualitative analysis method and literature study to explore in-depth understanding of the strategy of developing green digital assets in green waqf, and identify how the pentahelix approach is able to develop the strategy. The results and discussion identify that the pentahelix model is able to play a key role in developing green digital assets in green waqf, where the pentahelix model relates to cooperation between government, academia, business, community and media. Green waqf can be started by raising funds through a crowdfunding mechanism, then channeled to empower damaged forests with the aim of restoring them to green forests to have ecological value, which will then be endowed for the benefit of the community. The conclusion of this research is that the strategy of developing digital green assets in green waqf using the pentahelix approach can be a solution to alleviate poverty and improve welfare. However, there are still some challenges faced regarding the potential of waqf in Indonesia, such as the lack of professionalism of nazirs, low public waqf literacy, and not optimal education and socialization of green waqf.
