Abstract

Perkawinan merupakan suatu ikatan antara seorang pria dan seorang wanita sebagai suami istri, melainkan sebagai hubungan hukum yang menyangkut para anggota kerabat dari kedua belah pihak. Kawin Tangkap atau “Piti Maranggangu” merupakan salah satu tradisi dari Sumba dimana praktiknya dilakukan oleh seseorang dengan rekannya untuk menangkap calon istri yang dipilih dan mengandung unsur pemaksaan. Hal ini tentu melanggar Undang-undang Republik Indonesia Nomor 39 Tahun 1999 Tentang Hak Asasi Manusia. Karena pihak pelaku Kawin Tangkap sudah merenggut hak kebebasan korban dalam menentukan pilihan hidupnya termasuk dalam memilih calon pasangan. Namun di sisi lain, korban berhak mendapatkan perlindungan dari pihak yang berwajib karena perkawinan harus dilaksanakan sesuai dengan hukum negara yang berlaku.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana Strategi bellboy dalam memberikan pelayanan prima kepada tamu di Horison Ultima Riss Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Untuk pengumpulan data, penelitian ini menggunakan metode Observasi, Dokumentasi, wawancara, dan Kajian Pustaka. Temuan tersebut kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif. Penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa Strategi bellboy dalam memberikan pelayanan prima di hotel Horison Ultima Riss Yogyakarta adalah dengan cara Bersikap ramah (empati), bekerja dengan loyalitas, respon yang cepat dan tepat, serta meminta masukan kepada tamu untuk menilai apakah pelayanan yang diberikan sudah baik atau belum.

Abstract

Menjadi seorang yang profesional bukanlah hal yang mudah dalam dunia kerja. Persaingan yang ketat menjadikan karyawan untuk dituntut memiliki sikap profesionalisme. Dengan menjadikan sikap integritas maka akan meningkatkan kualitas diri dan memperoleh banyak pendapatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peranan waiter dan waitress, kepuasan pelanggan, dan upaya meningkatkan profesionalisme waiter dan waitress dalam menunjang keberhasilan operasional food and beverage service di Mawar Saron Grand Puri Saron Boutique Hotel Yogyakarta. Adapun metode analisa data penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, metode observasi dan pengamatan, dokumentasi, wawancara, dan studi pustaka. Berdasarkan hasil pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa peranan waiter dan waitress sangat penting dalam menjaga kepuasan pelanggan. Meningkatkan profesionalisme waiter dan waitress sangatlah penting untuk keberhasilan operasional food and beverage service, karena profesionalisme waiter dan waitress sangat memiliki pengaruh kuat terhadap kepuasan tamu dan kualitas pelayanan. Namun demikian, di tengah marak dan ketatnya persaingan industri perhotelan khususnya di kota Yogyakarta ini, manajemen perlu melakukan evaluasi menyeluruh dalam rangka perbaikan dan penyempurnaan secara konsisten dan berkesinambungan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang Faktor Kegagalan Dalam Pembuatan American Bread di The Jayakarta Hotel and Spa Yogyakarta. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kegagalan dalam pembuatan American bread, menyusun strategi yang efektif untuk meningkatkan konsistensi dan kualitas produk, merencanakan strategi untuk menangani kegagalan dalam pembuatan American Bread. Pariwisata merupakan suatu perjalanan yang dilakukan seseorang untuk sementara waktu yang diselenggarakan dari suatu tempat ke tempat yang lain. Berbicara tentang pariwisata, salah satu tujuan wisata di Indonesia yang sering dikunjungi adalah Yogyakarta, karena Yogyakarta merupakan salah satu kota pilihan yang menjadi wisata favorite bagi wisatawan dan hotel berperan penting sebagai penunjang akses dalam perjalanan suatu wisata. Kinerja Pastry Section dalam prose pembuatan American bread sangat dibutuhkan dalam mendukung operasional sebuah hotel. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode pengambilan data secara langsung di lapangan dan wawancara. Secara khusus observasi (pengamatan) dilakukan terhadap Pastry and Bakery terkait Faktor Kegagalan Dalam Pembuatan American Bread di The Jayakarta Hotel and Spa Yogyakarta. Sedangkan wawancara dilakukan pada Pastry Chef dengan mengajukan beberapa pertanyaan terkait faktor yang mempengaruhi kegagalan dalam pembuatan American Bread The Jayakarta Hotel and Spa Yogyakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor kegagalan dalam pembuatan American bread di The Jayakarta Hotel and Spa Yogyakarta, bisa dipengaruhi dari beberapa faktor, oleh karena itu seorang Pastry Section harus memperhatikan Standar Oprational Procedure untuk mengantisipasi terjadinya kegagalan dalam pembuatan American bread di The Jayakarta Hotel and Spa Yogyakarta.

Abstract

This literature review examines code-switching phenomena among Indonesian millennials in social media contexts, synthesizing existing research to understand patterns of language variation and multilingual communication practices in digital environments. The study employs a qualitative library research methodology, analyzing peer-reviewed academicsources published between 2010-2024 from major databases including Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. The review identifies three primary code-switching patterns: intra-sentential, inter-sentential, and tag-switching, with Indonesian millennials demonstrating sophisticated multilingual competence across platforms. Key findings reveal that code-switching serves multiple functions including social identity construction, emotional expression, and audience accommodation, with significant variations across different social media platforms. Instagram exhibits high English-Indonesian mixing for aesthetic and global appeal, Twitter shows complex multilingual combinations due to character constraints, Facebook demonstrates more formal patterns for diverse audiences, and TikTok enables innovative multilingual performances. The analysis reveals that theoretical frameworks such as Markedness Theory, Social Network Theory, and Identity Theory require adaptation for digital contexts. Significant research gaps include insufficient longitudinal studies, limited regional comparative analysis. The review concludes that Indonesian millennials use code-switching as a deliberate communicative strategy rather than linguistic deficiency, challenging traditional deficit models and supporting additive multilingualism perspectives. These findings have important implications for educational policy, cross-cultural communication training, and digital literacy development, suggesting the need for more inclusive language policies that recognize multilingual digital competencies as valuable linguistic resources

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the narrative structure in the short story The Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield, focusing on storytelling elements such as orientation, complication, resolution, and reorientation. The story portrays social inequality through the perspective of the main character, Laura, a young girl from an upper-class family who experiences an internal crisis when confronted with the harsh realities of working-class life. This study employs a qualitative approach with a grounded theory method to analyze the narrative structure in the short story The Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield. Data collection techniques include documentation, in-depth textual study, and content analysis of the literary work. The narrative structure theories of Vladimir Propp and Tzvetan Todorov are used to reveal how Mansfield constructs the plot and builds emotional tension as well as the character’s social awareness. The findings show that Mansfield effectively employs narrative structure techniques to create a psychological transformation in the protagonist while delivering a contextual social critique of the upper class's indifference toward the suffering of the lower class. This study contributes to modern literary studies and broadens readers’ understanding of storytelling techniques inmodern literature.

Abstract

This paper aims to describe the literacy learning process for tenth-grade students at PGRI I Senior High School, Denpasar. This learning process was conducted by three English Language Study Program students at Bali Dwipa University in the 2025/2026 academic year as part of the study program's Field Work Practice program. This program aims to apply the theories learned during their studies at the English Language Study Program at Bali Dwipa University. The internship lasted two months, from September 15 to November 15, 2025. The learning model used in this course is Systemic Functional Linguistics, which emphasizes social context, cultural context, and ideology. This learning model was chosen because it ties together the social context that occurs in society. This learning is expected to contribute to understanding how to comprehend texts as a whole and how to rephrase them in one's own language. The output of this learning process is the ability to identify moral messages contained in texts and to provide comprehensive education to the general public. This paper provides benefits to the field of linguistics, such as: Language Learning, Philosophy of Language, Semantics, Sociolinguistics, Semiotics, Pragmatics, Psycholinguistics, and Discourse.

Abstract

Education is a shared focus for improving the quality of human resources for national development. This research paper aims to review the learning undertaken during the internship program at the Children's House Cendikia Harapan School. This program lasted three months, teaching students at the Kindergarten and Elementary levels. The learning model employed an individual, one-on-one approach, taking into account the social context. Issues that arose included: not all students could speak English, which made it difficult for them to retell the material discussed in English. Furthermore, changes in students' learning moods prompted educators to seek specific strategies to maintain a stable learning mood and achieve learning outcomes. This learning relates to the development of courses such as Learning, Semiotics, Sociolinguistics, Pragmatics, and Psycholinguistics. This research paper is expected to contribute to the development of linguistics, and its findings can motivate other educators to develop contextual learning models.

Abstract

This research investigated the philosophy of Text I Sugih Tekẻn I Tiwas ‘the rich and the poor’ from Systemic Functional Linguistics. The data source was taken from Pupulan Satwa Bali ‘Ba-linese narrative text collection’ realized with Balinese text. This research used qualitative with grounded theory. The result of the research indicated that; elaboration verbs were used to state advantages for I Tiwas, extension verbs were used to elaborate on I Tiwas’s disadvantages, and enhancement verbs were used to elaborate I Sugih’s ambition. The philosophy of the text is re-lated to Hindu philosophy called Karma Pala ‘cause and effect law’ involving; how to humanize others, how to be a creative person, and how to use language properly. This research has signif-icance for linguistics research, namely semantics, semiotics, language philosophy, and dis-course.

Abstract

Psycholinguistics examines the cognitive and neurological mechanisms underlying language acquisition, comprehension, and production. In early childhood, these processes are influenced by cultural and pedagogical contexts. Halliday’s approach provides a rich environment where linguistic growth is inseparable from creativity and social interaction. This study employed a qualitative, phenomenological design, observing children in halliday’s-inspired classrooms. Data were collected through storytelling, role-play, and multimodal communication, supported by introspection and thematic analysis. The results show that children’s language acquisition is shaped by situation (observable behaviors), culture (norms of respect and reciprocity), and ideology (beliefs about agency and identity). Role-play and storytelling enhanced vocabulary and narrative competence, while multimodal communication supported meaning-making and identity formation. Language acquisition is not linear but relational and embodied. Psycholinguistic theory explains the mechanisms of comprehension and production. This manuscript brings positive impact for Psycholinguistics and teaching researches which can be used as refferences for the following teaching and psycholinguistics researches
