Abstract

The structure of wing scales in four species of papilionid butterflies were The research about the condition of coral reefs in Baranglompo and Bone Batang island was conducted in January to April 2016 based on “Coralwatch” table. The aim of this study was to determine health condition of coral reefs in Baranglompo and Bone Batang island. The data was obtained in the south, west, and north at a depth of 3 meters and 10 meter using Line Intercept Transect (LIT) method along 100 meters of both islands. The health condition of coral reefs was obtained from four coral colony types specifically Branching, Massive, Tabulate, and Soft coral using Coralwatch method. The results of this study showed that the health condition of coral reefs in Baranglompo and Bone Batang islands was still relatively equal. At a depth of 3 meters, the most healthy coral colony was dominated by branching corals while at a depth of 10 meters dominated by massive corals. However, the average value of coral colors indicating coral condition showed that the health condition of coral reefs in Baranglompo was higher than that in Bone Batang island. High anthropogenic impacts were observed by the trash commonly found in Baranglompo island, many fish bombings also found in Bone Batang island. This study recommend that the health condition of coral reefs in Baranglompo island was greater than that in Bone Batang island.

Abstract

The research on "The condition of coral health in the coastal waters of the Gonda, Polewali Mandar, West Sulawesi" has been carried out in April 2018. This study aims to determine the health conditions of coral reefs in the waters of Gonda Beach, Polewali-Mandar, West Sulawesi Province, using health tables coral. Data retrieval is carried out using the "Line Intercept Transect (LIT)" method with 50-meter transect in depths of 3 m and 10 m,The parameter that observed was the colour of coral colony. Data processing is carried out by entering approximately 20 coral colonies that have been found in the entry excel coral watch that are already available with standardized data processing columns. The results of this study indicate that coral health conditions in the coastal waters of Gonda, Polewali - Mandar, West Sulawesi Province classified as in the unhealthy category. The highest percentage of coral colonies is branched coral colonies.

Abstract

Kabupaten Takalar termasuk daerah sebagai penghasil berbagai jenis rumput laut. Ulva lactuca adalah jenis rumput laut yang berprotein tinggi yang belum dikenal oleh masyarakat yang dapat diolah menjadi produk makanan bergizi tinggi. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini untuk memberikan pelatihan membuat diversifikasi produk rumput laut menjadi produk olahan yang benilai gizi tinggi. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini terdiri dari tahap pra-kegiatan yang meliputi survei lokasi dan uji coba pembuatan rumput laut menjadi produk olahan berupa nugget rumput laut, baksorumput laut, mie rumput laut dan biskuit rumput laut. Tahap pelaksanaan kegiatan dengan metode penyuluhan dan pelatihan tentang manfaat serta cara pengolahan rumput laut. Hasil dari pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan peserta tentang rumput laut komersil dan rumput laut non komersil, kandungan gizi rumput laut serta produk olahan rumput laut. Hasil uji organoleptik menunjukkan tingkat kesukaan panelis terhadap rasa, aroma, tekstur dan warna dengan hasil yang baik, dimana seluruh panelis menyukai produk olahan rumput laut.

Abstract

Tunicates belongs to Urochordate that inhibit coral reefs ecosystem. The uniqueness of the tunic can be seen from the body shape like a tube with 2 siphons and the body is covered by a protective layer known as the tunic. The present study aims to observe marine tunicate at waters of Badi Island, Pangkajene Regency, South Sulawesi. This research using the Belt Transect method with a length of 20 m and a width of 4 m at a depth of 5 m with 4 station points according to the wind directions. All tunicate inside transect was noted and identified. Identification was based on morphological characteristics. The result shows that there were 18 species of tunicates present in the coral reefs ecosystem of Badi Island.

Abstract

Teknologi resapan biopori mempunyai fungsi ganda yaitu meresapkan air dan tempat pengomposan sampah organik. Peresapan air membantu mengurangi air genangan dan sekaligus meningkatkan ketersediaan air tanah. Pengomposan sampah organik mengurangi sumber pencemaran lingkungan hidup dan komposnya memperbaiki kualitas tanah.  Teknologi resapan biopori dimulai dari pengeboran tanah dan memasukkan pipa paralon ukuran 3 inchi.  Lubang resapan air ini dapat dijadikan tempat pengomposan sampah organik.  Sampah organik dalam lubang resapan biopori memicu kehadiran organisme tanah  seperti cacing, semut dan rayap. Aktifitas organisme tanah menyebabkan terbentuknya lubang (biopori) yang menjadi jalan air dan udara didalam tanah.  Kegiatan ini memotivasi warga sekolah SMAN 4 kabupaten Soppeng untuk peduli pada lingkungan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa warga sekolah mempunyai pengetahuan dan memahami fungsi ganda lubang resapan biopori yaitu peningkatan ketersediaan air tanah dan produksi biogranul kompos. Dengan pengetahuan biopori dan biogranul diharapkan warga sekolah termotivasi  menuju sekolah Adiwiyata. DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v3i0.2668

Abstract

Tunikata memiliki peran yang sangat penting karena hewan ini banyak berkontribusi bagi kestabilan ekosistem laut dengan menyediakan lahan yang subur bagi biota lain, juga bagian dari rantai makanan serta mangsa bagi banyaknya biota laut. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman tunikata yang masih sangat terbatas sehingga perlu dilakukan penelitian yang lebih mendalam. Sampling lapangan dilakukan menggunakan metode line transek pada kedalaman 5 m dengan panjang transek 20 m dan lebar transek 2 m. Semua tunikata yang terdapat dalam transek didata untuk selanjutnya diidentifikasi. Identifikasi jenis berdasarkan karakteristik morfologi disesuaikan dengan referensi identifikasi. Hasil identifikasi menunjukan, terdapat 24 spesies tunikata di kawasan perairan pulau Pannikiang, dimana semua jenis termasuk dalam kelas Ascidiacea. Parameter lingkungan di lokasi sesuai untuk menunjang kehidupan biota laut tersebut.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the diversity of molluscs (bivalves and gastropods) in two seasons in the mangrove ecosystem in Luppung, Ujung Loe District, Bulukumba Regency. Data collection usied random plot size I x m2, which applied at six stations determined by Purposive Sampling Method. Species Identification based on morphological characteristics and some other identification references. Data analysis including diversity, uniformity and dominance. The degree of similarity amongst station was analysed using Clustering by the Bray-Curtis method. Data analysis used the PAST 4.03. In this studi, 37 species of molluscs, consisting of the bivalve class (19 species) and the gastropod class (17 species) were identified. Bivalve Tellina (Quidnipagus) palate (Iredale, 1929) and GastropodsNassarius (Plicarcularia) leptospirus (A. Adams, 1852) were found at all six research stations. SpeciesCorbicula japonica (Prime, 1864). Uncertain Nerita (from the bush, 1844), Oualaniense Clithon (Lesson, 1831), Episcomitra cornicula (Linnaeus, 1758), Rough coastlines (Linnaeus, 1758), Pugilina cochlidium (Linnaeus, 1758), Melanoides punctata (Lamarck, 1822), Polinices mammilla (Linnaeus, 1758),and Rhinoclavis aspera (Linnaeus, 1758) found only in one station. The frequency of appearance of this type of mollusk shows the distribution of this type in the study location. The highest diversity Bivalvia is found at station 1 during the dry season and station 2 during the rainy season. The highest Gastropod diversity values were found at station 3 during the dry season and station 1 during the rainy season. Diversity of Bivalvia and Gastropods is higher in the dry season. There is no similarity in the structure of the gastropod community between the dry and rainy seasons. There is little similarity in bivalve community structure between the dry and rainy seasons.   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman moluska (bivalvia dan gastropoda) pada dua musim di ekosistem mangrove di Dusun Luppung Kecamatan Ujung Loe Kabupaten Bulukumba. Pengambilan data menggunakan metode plot acak dan stasiun ditentukan dengan Purposive Sampling Method. Enam plot berukuran 1 x 1 m2 diaplikasi pada enam stasiun. Identifikasi species berdasarkan karakteristik morfologi dan disesuaikan dengan referensi identifikasi. Analisis data meliputi keanekaragaman, keseragaman, dan dominansi. Tingkat kesamaan (similaritas) antar stasiun menggunakan analisis Clustering metode Bray-curtis, Analisis data menggunakan Aplikasi PAST 4.03. Pada studi ini, Teridentifikasi 37 species (jenis) moluska, terdiri dari dua klas bivalvia (19 species) dan Gastropoda (17 species). Bivalvia jenis Tellina (Quidnipagus) palatam (Iredale, 1929) dan Gastropoda jenis Nassarius (Plicarcularia) leptospirus (A. Adams, 1852) dijumpai pada semua stasiun penelitian. Species Corbicula japonica (Prime, 1864). Nerita incerta (von dem Busch, 1844), Clithon oualaniense (Lesson, 1831), Episcomitra cornicula (Linnaeus, 1758), Littoraria scabra (Linnaeus, 1758), Pugilina cochlidium (Linnaeus, 1758), Melanoides punctata (Lamarck, 1822), Polinices mammilla (Linnaeus, 1758), dan Rhinoclavis aspera (Linnaeus, 1758) hanya di temukan di salah satu stasiun penelitian. Frekuensi pemunculan jenis moluska menunjukan sebaran jenis tersebut di lokasi penelitian. Nilai keanekaragaman tertinggi Bivalvia terdapat di stasiun 1 pada musim Kemarau dan stasiun 2 pada musim Hujan. Nilai keanekaragaman tertinggi Gastropoda terdapat di stasiun 3 pada musim Kemarau dan stasiun 1 pada musim Hujan. Keanekaragaman Moluska (Bivalvia dana Gastropoda) lebih tinggi pada musim Kemarau. Tidak terdapat kesamaan struktur komunitas gastropoda antara musim kemarau dan hujan. Terdapat sedikit kesamaan struktur komunitas bivalvia antara musim kemarau dan hujan.

Abstract

Despite being part of food web and bioindicator in freshwater ecosystems, gastropods are globally jeopardized. Therefore, the occurence of freshwater gastropods need to be assessed. This research aimed to examine diversity and distribution of freshwater gastropods along the Ciapus River in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia. The research was conducted from February to May 2020. Sampling was carried out within limited 15 minutes time period using five 1 × 1 m plots established at each of four survey stations. Gastropods were collected from the bottom of river, rock surface and riverbanks within 15-100 cm of water depth. Environmental parameters were recorded. Data was analyzed using biodiversity index parameters and diversity t-test. The survey collected a total 587 individuals from 7 species of freshwater gastropods. The abundance, species richness and diversity of gastropods in the Ciapus river were different between upstream and downstream, location with high altitude tend to have low number of species. Glyptophysa stagnalis became the only species recorded from upstream area. Meanwhile, there were 4 species, which were collected in other three stations and 2 species that recorded from two stations. In three stations, Tarebia granifera was the most dominant species.

Abstract

Marine natural products have garnered global interest due to their remarkable bioactive compounds. The tunicate P. aurata, a highly abundant marine invertebrate, possesses significant bioactive potential with applications as an anti-cancer, antibacterial, and antifungal agent. This study aims to evaluate the potential of P. aurata bioactive compounds as antibiotic candidates through in vitro testing and to explore their activity via an in-silico approach using molecular docking. P. aurata was extracted using maceration, yielding both methanol and n-hexane extracts. The methanol extract of P. aurata demonstrated greater efficacy than the n-hexane extract, particularly against Staphylococcus aureus with an inhibition zone diameter of 18.8 mm, compared to 13 mm for Salmonella typhi, both at a 25% concentration. In comparison, the positive control, ciprofloxacin, produced an inhibition zone ranging from 22 to 24 mm for both bacterial strains. GC-MS analysis of the extract revealed three compounds with high % area and similarity index values: Cyclohexane, 1,3,5-triphenyl, Cholesta-5,22-dien-3-ol, and Cholesta-3,5-diene, all of which were suitable for the selected protein target. Computational analysis through molecular docking demonstrated that these compounds exhibit stronger binding affinities compared to ciprofloxacin. This study suggests that the extract of P. aurata is a promising source of bioactive compounds with substantial therapeutic potential as an antibacterial and antibiotic candidate.

Abstract

Aktivitas manusia di pesisir kampung nelayan, Kampung Lere dan di hulu Sungai Matangpondo/ Poboya yang berupa pengisian bahan bakar untuk perahu nelayan, pertambangan dan pertanian memicu terjadinya peningkatan jumlah limbah terutama limbah logam berat yang berpotensi menyebabkan pencemaran di perairan Teluk Palu. Kadar logam berat yang banyak terakumulasi pada biota laut dapat menyebabkan masalah bagi kesehatan manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar logam berat timbal (Pb) dan kadmium (Cd) pada ikan kuniran Upeneus sulphureus Cuvier. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari-Maret 2024. Analisis kandungan logam berat menggunakan Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectometry (ICP-MS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kandungan logam berat timbal (Pb) tertinggi terdapat pada sampel ikan kuniran B di stasiun 1 dengan konsentrasi sebesar 0.0614 mg/kg dan rata-rata timbal (Pb) tertinggi yaitu di stasiun 1 dengan konsentrasi sebesar 0.0594 mg/kg sedangkan kandungan logam berat kadmium (Cd) tertinggi terdapat pada sampel ikan kuniran B di stasiun 1 dengan konsentrasi sebesar 0.0173 mg/kg dan rata-rata kadmium (Cd) tertinggi yaitu 0.0162 mg/kg. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa ikan kuniran Upeneus sulphureus Cuvier belum melewati ambang batas BPOM dan masih layak dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat di Kota Palu.
