Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine 1) the characteristics of professional teachers who hold educator certificates, 2) what efforts teachers have made to implement the learning process in the classroom, and 3) what efforts teachers have made to improve their performance in order to meet national education goals. This study is a descriptive qualitative study. This research included 18 instructors who already held educator credentials and got professional allowances. Techniques for collecting data include surveys, observation, and documentation. Techniques for data analysis include data reduction, data display, and decision making. According to the study's findings, qualified instructors have strong professional competence but must constantly grow their expertise in a sustainable manner. Furthermore, instructors must seek to better themselves and employ digital skills to enhance the learning process in the classroom in order to raise students' enthusiasm in engaging in learning. This study focuses on the hurdles or issues encountered by qualified instructors, particularly throughout the classroom learning process. With this research, it is intended that it would help trained instructors overcome obstacles that arise during the learning process in the classroom, allowing them to reach the required level of national education.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to discover how the stages of principal’s supervision improved teacher performance at SD Negeri 245 Palembang. The qualitative technique was employed with observation, interviews, and documentation as tools. Miles and Huberman's theory was used to examine the data. The results revealed that (1) the supervision program is prepared and implemented at the start of each school year, and (2) supervision assessment is carried out at the conclusion of each semester by notifying instructors personally and in groups. This study has received little attention since it investigates supervision in depth in order to improve teacher effectiveness in primary schools. This study is designed to benefit school principals by enhancing performance connected with principal’s supervision.

Abstract

Religious moderation is a key element in fostering tolerance and harmony in a diverse society, and its integration into Islamic education is crucial for achieving these goals. This study aimed to develop a curriculum model based on religious moderation for madrasas, utilizing the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) to ensure its comprehensive integration. The research involved identifying existing practices at MTs Pembangunan UIN Jakarta, designing a curriculum model incorporating religious moderation into intracurricular, extracurricular, co-curricular, and madrasa culture activities, and piloting the developed module. The results revealed that while MTs Pembangunan UIN Jakarta did not explicitly implement religious moderation in its character and moral development programs, the school exhibited implicit practices aligned with these values. The curriculum developed in this study was assessed as highly valid in terms of content, presentation, graphics, and language, with a particular focus on its practical implementation in fostering students’ attitudes toward religious moderation. The findings emphasize the importance of a multi-faceted approach to embedding religious moderation in all aspects of madrasa life. This study provides valuable insights into how curriculum design can be an effective tool for promoting religious moderation, with implications for improving Islamic education by integrating these values into both formal and informal educational settings.

Abstract

Living in a tourist area is frequently viewed as an advantage for students learning English as it provides more opportunities to practice the language. The present study looked at the English performance of students residing in tourist and non-tourist areas and explored how they learned English and the factors affecting their language performance. A comparative study was conducted using a concurrent mixed-method approach. The data were collected through documents, tests, and interviews and analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively to examine differences and determine the main themes between the respective groups. The result of the study indicates that the two groups differed statistically in terms of English school grades and speaking test scores with large effect sizes (d = 3.26 and d = 1.28), respectively. Even though the proficiency test did not show a significant difference (p = .72), the non-tourist group outperformed the tourist group in all assessment types. The interviews revealed that regardless of the different attributes and sites where students lived, the two groups were similar in how they learned English. The main factors affecting the English language performance of both groups were (1) strong motivation, (2) exposure to English through songs, games, movies, andsocial media, and (3) family support.

Abstract

Indigenous communities are among the vulnerable groups at risk of being left behind in the development process. To uphold the "leave no one behind" principle of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is crucial to examine public policies affecting indigenous peoples. This article focuses on the indigenous community in Bukittinggi, specifically the Kurai people. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach, combining an analysis of public policy documents with field research on the traditional leaders of Kurai Limo Jorong. The findings reveal that the Kurai Indigenous community in Bukittinggi resembles antimun bungkuak—present yet unrecognized. While they remain de facto founders of the city, with leaders and traditional institutions still in place, their influence has steadily declined. Public policies have progressively marginalized them, excluding their existence from official development plans and decision-making processes.
