Abstract

This article wants to examine in depth and examine the book Miftah Kunuz al-Sunnah by an Orientalist named Arent Jan Wensinck which was translated by Muhammad Fuad Abdul Baqi and its contribution to the Science of Takhrij al-Hadith. In this research, the author used library research methods by referring to the main work of Arent Jan Wensinck which was translated by Muhammad Fuad Abdul Baqi, namely the book Miftah Kunuz al-Sunnah which contains hadith indexes which refer to 14 main books of hadith. The results of this research show that the book Miftah Kunuz al-Sunnah is a hadith index book that uses the takhrij bil maudhu'i method where each page is divided into three columns, each of which contains the themes of discussion. The book Miftah Kunuz al-Sunnah is also arranged alphabetically (according to the hijaiyyah letters) from the letters alif to the letters ya’. The existence of this book also has a very big contribution to the study of hadith, especially the Science of Takhrij al-Hadith, although this book still has several shortcomings and in the current era it is rarely or even no longer used. Tulisan ini ingin mengkaji secara mendalam dan menelaah kitab Miftah Kunuz al-Sunnah karya seorang Orientalis bernama Arent Jan Wensinck yang diterjemahkan oleh Muhammad Fuad Abdul Baqi serta kontribusinya terhadap Ilmu Takhrij al-Hadis. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan metode penelitian kepustakaan (library research) dengan merujuk kepada karya utama dari Arent Jan Wensinck yang diterjemahkan oleh Muhammad Fuad Abdul Baqi yakni kitab Miftah Kunuz al-Sunnah yang berisi indeks-indeks hadis yang merujuk kepada 14 kitab induk hadis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kitab Miftah Kunuz al-Sunnah merupakan kitab indeks hadis yang menggunakan metode takhrij bil maudhu’i dimana setiap halamannya terbagi menjadi tiga kolom yang di setiap kolomnya memuat tema-tema pembahasan. Kitab Miftah Kunuz al-Sunnah juga disusun berdasarkan alfabetis (sesuai abjad huruf hijaiyyah) dari huruf alif hingga huruf ya’. Keberadaan kitab ini juga memiliki kontribusi yang sangat besar bagi studi hadis khususnya Ilmu ­Takhrij al-Hadis, meskipun kitab ini masih memiliki beberapa kekurangan dan di era sekarang sudah mulai jarang bahkan tidak digunakan lagi.

Abstract

This study explores the development of Hadith studies in Egypt, an essential center of Islamic scholarship since the early Islamic period. It focuses on Egypt’s strategic position as a bridge connecting three continents and begins with the arrival of Islam in the 7th century under Amr bin Ash. The primary focus is the evolution of Hadith traditions in Egypt, including contributions from scholars such as Imam At-Tahawi, Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani, and Laits bin Sa’ad. Secondary aspects cover the influence of educational institutions like Al-Azhar and other figures who advanced Hadith studies. The research aims to highlight Egypt’s role as a key center for Hadith studies and analyze the factors sustaining its scholarly traditions. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered from historical literature, biographies of scholars, and influential Hadith works. The findings show that Egypt has been a crucial center for Hadith development, supported by scholarly contributions and lasting academic traditions, with Al-Azhar and the Amr bin Ash Mosque playing significant roles. Abstract

This research starts from the incident of hadith falsification which became a color in the history of the development of Islam. Because the forgery of fake hadiths is growing and endangering the understanding of the Islamic religion, the ulama are making several efforts to protect hadiths, namely; researching the characteristics of the narrator and his narration, giving warnings to liars, testing the truth of a hadith by comparing the history of other channels whose authenticity has been acknowledged, establishing general rules for knowing the characteristics of the hadith of Maud}u' and memorizing the hadith and its quality, giving birth to a work that specifically discusses fake hadith. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach, the author presents data related to the efforts of ulama in preserving hadith. One of them is Ibn 'Irāq al-Kinani who is one of the scholars who protects the hadith through his work. The findings in this research indicate that Ibn 'Irāq al-Kināni's efforts are involved in overcoming the problem of fake hadith, his efforts stated in his book Tanzīh al-Sharī'ah al-Marfū'ah 'An al-Akhbār al-Shanī'ah al-Maudū'ah. There are several efforts contained in this book, including; mentioning the names of people accused of lying and falsifying hadiths, mentioning the groups that falsified hadiths, and mentioning false hadiths which then Ibn 'Irāq al-Kināni explained the causes of corruption in the hadiths so that they became false hadiths.

Abstract

In today's education world, character building based on hadith plays an important role in responding to the problem of declining moral and ethical values. The purpose of this study is to explore in depth the importance of implementing character education based on hadith in the madrasa environment. This study uses a literature study method with a descriptive-qualitative method, which aims to examine various relevant literature related to character education, hadith, and its implementation in the context of madrasas. The results of the study indicate that the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad SAW has great potential as a foundation in shaping students' character. Values ​​such as honesty, discipline, caring, and empathy contained in the hadith can be integrated into the curriculum and extracurricular activities of madrasas. The implementation of hadith-based character education in madrasas involves several strategies, including teacher role models. The implementation of hadith-based character education is greatly influenced by habituation in daily activities and through strong synergy between the madrasa and parents. This effort is expected to be able to form a generation that is not only noble, but also equipped with high spiritual and emotional intelligence, in accordance with the goals of comprehensive Islamic education.

Abstract

This research discusses hermeneutics, a discipline concerned with approaches to understanding complex texts, particularly those of the ḥadīth and the Qur’ān. In the context of this study, hermeneutics is employed as a theoretical framework to explore the interpretation of ḥadīth using both textual and contextual approaches, which are essential foundational concepts. The textual approach focuses on direct analysis of the ḥadīth text itself, while the contextual approach emphasizes the importance of understanding the social, cultural, and historical contexts that inform and influence the meaning of the ḥadīth. The methodology used in this research is qualitative, employing a literature review as the primary method, supported by analytical interpretation and reconstruction of related texts. In examining the Qudsī ḥadīth concerning Allah al-Raḥmān found in al-Aḥādīth al-Qudsiyyah by Shaykh Muḥammad Mutawallī al-Shaʿrāwī, this study applies a hermeneutical method, particularly the approach of tafsīr bi al-raʾy (interpretation based on reasoned opinion). This method is considered effective in uncovering and explaining the inner dimensions and spiritual meanings of the ḥadīth. The literature-based investigation revealed several parallels between this hermeneutical approach and interpretive methods employed in other scientific disciplines, indicating the interdisciplinary potential of hermeneutics in ḥadīth studies. Consequently, a comprehensive understanding of hermeneutics as applied to the interpretation of ḥadīth requires not only a close and detailed textual analysis but also a deep engagement with the socio-cultural and historical frameworks that shaped the emergence and reception of these traditions.

Abstract

This journal aims to analyze the values of character education in the hadith narrated by Imam al-Dārimī in his Sunan book. By using hadith sharia theory which aims to understand further the context of the hadith being studied, as well as the values contained in the hadith. It is hoped that the findings of this journal will provide a deeper understanding of the hadiths narrated by Imam al-Dārimī as well as moral values that can be applied in everyday life. This aims to understand the dynamics of practice and the meaning of character education itself, so that it can provide comprehensive insight and implications in the practice of implementing it. Meanwhile, the research method in this journal uses qualitative research methods, which are sourced from the main literature, the Sunan book by Imam al-Dārimī as data collection. The results of this research include three main aspects of character education values from the hadith narrated by Imam alDārimī. First, the biography of the author of the book, namely Imam al-Dārimī. Second, this research identifies character education from a hadith perspective narrated by Imam al-Dārimī. Third, this research reveals the hadith analysis of the values of character education in the hadith narrated by Imam al-Dārimī.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of tawadhu’ (humility) values in the Prophet’s hadiths in shaping educators’ personalities. Employing qualitative library research, the study examines various literature and key prophetic narrations on humility. The thematic analysis reveals tawadhu’ as a multidimensional concept encompassing equality, gentleness, non-superiority, and appreciation of differences supported by major hadiths such as HR. Muslim no. 2588, 91, and 2865. Findings show that incorporating tawadhu’ in teaching practice involves: (1) fostering dialogic space; (2) avoiding arrogance; (3) respecting students; (4) pursuing lifelong learning; and (5) teaching with sincere intentions. The study concludes that integrating tawadhu’ into educational settings cultivates educators who are both academically competent and morally upright, thus fostering inclusive, harmonious, and spiritually enriched learning environments.

Abstract

Emosi memiliki peran penting dalam pendidikan, pekerjaan, dan kesehatan, namun pada masa remaja cenderung belum stabil sehingga memerlukan pendidikan emosional yang terarah. Penelitian ini berangkat dari rumusan masalah: bagaimana kandungan nilai emosional dalam QS. Ibrahim serta relevansinya terhadap pendidikan emosional remaja? Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menggali nilai emosional dalam QS. Ibrahim dan mengaitkannya secara kontekstual dengan pendidikan emosional remaja. Dengan metode studi pustaka yang bersumber dari QS. Ibrahim sebagai data primer dan literatur ilmiah sebagai data sekunder, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa nilai syukur dan doa dalam QS. Ibrahim berfungsi membentuk keteguhan jiwa, spiritualitas, dan akhlak mulia. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada integrasi nilai emosional Qur’ani dengan teori pendidikan emosional modern, yang menghadirkan pendekatan holistik dalam pembinaan karakter remaja. Implikasi praktisnya, hasil kajian ini dapat menjadi landasan pengembangan kurikulum pendidikan Islam yang menyeimbangkan aspek intelektual, spiritual, dan emosional, serta mendorong lahirnya generasi remaja tangguh, beriman, dan berakhlakul karimah.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of active learning methods in the teaching of kitab kuning at MMA Sunan Drajat Lamongan through a hadith-based educational approach. Kitab kuning, as classical Islamic texts written in unvowelized Arabic script, often poses challenges for students, especially those lacking foundational knowledge in Arabic grammar such as nahwu and sharaf. Traditional passive teaching methods are often ineffective in fostering deep comprehension and student engagement. To address these issues, this study explores the use of active learning strategies such as discussion (musyawaroh), interactive dialogue, group work, and role-playing. A qualitative research approach was employed, using observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection. The findings indicate that active learning methods create a more interactive learning environment, enhance textual understanding, and help develop students’ confidence, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Moreover, these methods are strongly rooted in the educational practices of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who frequently applied participatory, contextual, and communicative approaches in his teaching. Thus, active learning from a hadith perspective not only serves as a pedagogical innovation but also revives prophetic educational values that remain relevant and effective in the context of modern Islamic education.

Abstract

Islamic education emphasizes not only the transmission of knowledge but also the development of noble character and moral discipline among students. One method used to instill discipline is punishment, which often sparks debate regarding its appropriateness in educational settings. This study aims to explore the concept of punishment in education based on the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad. The research employs a library research method with a descriptive-qualitative approach. Primary data sources include major hadith collections such as Sunan Abu Dawud and Sahih Muslim, supported by secondary literature in Islamic education and educational psychology. The findings indicate that punishment in Islam is not an act of violence but a form of ta’dib a nurturing process rooted in justice, compassion, and educational purpose. The Hadith provides ethical guidelines for administering punishment, emphasizing proportionality, non-violence, and character development. Thus, when implemented according to Islamic values, punishment can serve as an effective educational tool to foster holistic student growth both intellectually and spiritually.
