Abstract

Adolescence (10-18 years) is a period of nutritional vulnerability due to various reasons. Some research data shows that there are still nutritional problems in adolescents in Indonesia, especially the problem of nutritional anemia. The results of the 2018 Riskesdas research state that the cause of the high prevalence of nutritional anemia in adolescent girls is that they tend to go on a diet so that they can reduce their intake of nutrients, including iron. In addition, the existence of a monthly menstrual cycle is one of the factors that cause young women to be susceptible to iron deficiency anemia. Based on this, community service activities were carried out in the form of nutrition education activities (counseling) and health services in preventing anemia in adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 11 Palembang. This community service is carried out in 2 stages of activities, namely nutrition education in the form of counseling, as well as conducting health service activities in the form of screening by capturing students who have less or more nutritional status and students with indications of anemia. From anthropometric measurements, we get Most of the 60% of students with normal nutritional status for very thin and thin nutritional status were 16.7% and 3.3%, while those with nutritional status were fat and very fat as much as 6.7% and 13.3%, respectively. The results of the Hb examination showed that most of the students (66.7%) did not have anemia (Normal Hb), there were (20.%) students with moderate anemia status, and (13.3%) with mild anemia status. An increase in students' knowledge of 18.17 points after the post-test. In addition, this community service activity is expected to increase knowledge of nutrition and health, especially regarding anemia in adolescents and how to treat it.

Abstract

Stunting is a major issue affecting children's growth and development, particularly cognitive function, which impacts future human resources. Therefore, effective handling of stunting is essential. Muara Enim Regency, in South Sumatra, has a high prevalence of stunting. The 2018 Riskesdas reported a 34.4% stunting rate in Muara Enim, higher than both South Sumatra (32%) and the national average (30.8%). In 2021, the prevalence was 29.7%, making it the third highest in South Sumatra. Research by Susyani et al. (2022) found that 9.6% of children under five in Muara Enim were very short, and 23.5% were short. Additionally, 62.1% of toddlers visited the integrated services post less than 8 times a year. To address this, community service activities were carried out to refresh the skills of integrated services post cadres. The aim was to increase their knowledge and abilities in monitoring child growth, screening the nutritional status of toddlers, women of childbearing age, and pregnant women, to prevent and reduce stunting. After the training, there was a 19.9-point increase in cadres' knowledge. This service is expected to further enhance the capabilities of integrated services post cadres in addressing stunting in Muara Enim.

Abstract

Muara Enim Regency is one of 17 districts in South Sumatra which is included in the category of high prevalence of stunting. The 2018 Riskesdas showed that the prevalence of stunting in Muara Enim was 34.4% higher than in South Sumatra (32%) and the National (30.8%). The same thing comes from the results of the 2021 national under-five nutritional status study, Muara Enim's stunting prevalence rate of 29.7% is included in the 3rd highest district in South Sumatra (24.8%). Research conducted by Susyani, et al (2022) in the stunting locus area of ​ Muara Enim Regency showed that 26 (9.6%) children under five were very short and 64 (23.5%) were short. The service aims to increase the knowledge and skills of mothers under five, women of childbearing age, and pregnant women in making balanced nutritious food by utilizing existing local food ingredients. The implementation method is carried out through nutrition education in the form of counseling and cooking demonstrations regarding nutritious and balanced food according to the contents of “ my plate”. There was an increase in knowledge about balanced nutritious food before and after being given counseling with an increase of 19.09 points. Demonstrations on cooking balanced nutritious food for toddler mothers, women of childbearing age, and pregnant women by utilizing existing local food ingredients can provide knowledge and skills of the target community in making various nutritious and balanced food menus to meet the nutritional needs of their families.

Abstract

Background: Wasting is a manifestation of chronic malnutrition, with low weight for height. The city of Palembang, especially the operational area of Makrayu Health Center, recorded second-highest prevalence of wasting in Palembang by 54 out of 4.396 toddlers experiencing wasting (1.22%). Local nutrition intervention, such as local food-based supplementary feeding, becomes a focal strategy to solve this problem. Objectives: The effect of biscuits made of snakehead fish and potato flour on the body weight in wasted toddlers was measured. Methods: This research is a quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design without a control group. The sample consisted of 33 toddlers aged 12-59 months who were wasting in the Makrayu Palembang Health Center work area. The intervention, in the form of providing snakehead fish biscuits and potato starch, was carried out for 14 days. Data were collected through body weight measurements before and after the intervention and assessment of nutrient intake using the 24-hour recall method. Data were analyzed using a dependent t-test. Results: Giving snakehead fish biscuits and potato starch showed a significant increase in body weight in wasting toddlers after the intervention, with an average increase of 0.32 kg. In addition, there was an increase in energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrate intake, which supported the improvement of nutritional status. Conclusion: There is an effect of giving snakehead fish biscuits and potato starch on the weight gain of wasting toddlers in the Makrayu Palembang Health Center work area (p=0.000).

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Iron nutritional anemia is the biggest micronutrient problem in Indonesia, which occurs in groups of toddlers, school children, pregnant women, women and adult men. In general, anemia is a condition where the hemoglobin level is lower than normal. According to WHO, in 2021, the prevalence of anemia in productive women (15-54) in the world is around 29.9%. Objective: This research aims to determine the effect of giving modified boiler chicken liver nuggets and green spinach leaves on increasing hemoglobin levels in anemic adolescent girls. This research was conducted from 22 April to 06 May 2024 at MAN Rejang Lebong Research Method: used in this research was the Quasy Experiment method with a one group pre-post test design, namely a quasi-experiment carried out on one group. The sample was selected using quota sampling with a sample size of 41 people. Results: statistical tests showed that the effect of giving modified chicken liver nuggets and green spinach leaves showed that the average Hemoglobin level before the intervention was 10.89 g/dL with a standard deviation of 1,037 and after the intervention it was 11.55 g/dL with a standard deviation of 1,470 Results The difference in the average measurement of hemoglobin levels before and after was 0.73 g/dL with a standard deviation of 1.253. The statistical test results obtained a p value = 0.000, so it can be concluded that there was an effect of giving modified chicken liver nuggets and green spinach leaves on increasing Hemoglobin levels before and after the intervention. Abstract

Diabetes Melitus (DM) adalah gangguan metabolik ketika tubuh tidak dapat memproses karbohidrat yang disebabkan mekanisme insulin, sehingga muncul gejala hiperglikemia, poliuria, polifagia, polidipsia, yang dapat menyebabkan dispnea, lipemia, ketonuria, dan bisa berakhir koma. Tujuan umum peneliti adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran pengetahuan, sikap, aktivitas fisik, asupan zat gizi makro, serat pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe2 di Puskesmas Sosial Palembang. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah deskriptif dengan metode crossectional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah pasien DM tipe2 di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Sosial Palembang, sampel sebanyak 41 sampel dipilih dengan metode purposive sampling. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan tingkat pengetahuan kurang yaitu (48,8%), sikap cukup baik yaitu (75,6%), aktivitas fisik sedang (63,4%), asupan energi lebih (63,4%), asupan protein lebih (34,1%), asupan lemak lebih (87,8%), asupan karbohidrat baik (48,8%), asupan serat kurang yaitu (97,6%), kadar gula darah hiperglikemia yaitu (63,4%). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah pengetahuan responden kurang, sikap responden cukup, aktivitas fisik sedang, asupan energi dan lemak lebih, asupan protein lebih, karbohidrat baik, asupan serat kurang, dan kadar gula darah hiperglikemia. Disarankan kepada pihak Puskesmas untuk melakukan edukasi berkala untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan pasien seperti melakukan penyuluhan khususnya pada pasien DM.

Abstract

Stunting merupakan kondisi yang menggambarkan dampak dari defisiensi zat gizi, infeksi, tidak tepatnya stimulasi yang ditandai dengan tinggi badan tidak sesuai dengan usianya. Protein hewani memiliki peran krusial dalam mencegah stunting karena kandungan asam amino esensial. Pengetahuan dan sikap ibu juga menjadi faktor penting dalam upaya pencegahan stunting. Edukasi menggunakan media visual seperti booklet diharapkan mampu meningkatkan pemahaman dan mendorong perubahan sikap ibu. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui edukasi gizi media booklet tentang “upaya pencegahan stunting” terhadap karakteristik pengetahuan dan sikap calon ibu dan ibu baduta di Puskesmas Merdeka Palembang. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan deskriptif melalui desain one group pre-test and post-test. Sampel 34 responden dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Analisis univariat menunjukkan sebesar 85.3% ibu berada dalam kategori dewasa awal, pendidikan tinggi 79.4%, status tidak bekerja 88.2%. Analisis bivariat menunjukkan setelah diberikan penyuluhan terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan dan sikap terhadap karakteristik ibu, umur terhadap pengetahuan (32.4% menjadi 2.9%), umur terhadap sikap (2.9% menjadi 0.0%), pendidikan terhadap pengetahuan (32.4% menjadi 2.9%), pendidikan terhadap sikap (2.9% menjadi 0.0%), pekerjaan terhadap pengetahuan (32.4% menjadi 2.9%), pekerjaan terhadap sikap (2.9% menjadi 0.0%). Edukasi menggunakan media booklet menunjukkan adanya peningkatan terhadap pengetahuan dan sikap ibu.
