Abstract

There are differences of opinion arising from the results of research on the use of WhatsApp in ELT. The results revealed that the use of WhatsApp software contributed positively to the development of English writing proficiency, and the other results considered that the use of WhatsApp has many weaknesses and difficulties in writing and other language instructions. This controversy allowed the researcher to conduct research aimed at finding out whether there was a correlation between the use of WhatsApp as a tool in writing activities and EFL student writing performance and to find out how close the relationship between the two variables is. The statistical correlation from Pearson Product Moment revealed that the correlation of the independent variable (X) with the dependent variable (Y) showed a sig. value of 0.000 < 0.05, and the correlation rate was very strong with a correlation coefficient (r = 0.832), along with the hypothesis tested showing Ho: ?1 ? 0. This study shows a very strong correlation between the use of WhatsApp as a tool in English writing activities and writing performance. WhatsApp interventions into ELT in the form of group WhatsApp and individual WhatsApp’s text message interactions have contributed to EFL students’ writing skills as the correlation of two variables goes parallel. The more students do the writing activity through WhatsApp, the higher the writing achievement they acquire.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi kegiatan Mutaba’ah Yaumiyah di RA Lab School Integrated IAI YASNI Bungo, keberhasilan kegiatan tersebut dalam pendidikan karakter islami anak usia dini dan faktor penghambat serta pendukung dalam implementasi kegiatan Mutaba’ah Yaumiyah di RA Lab School Integrated. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah kepala sekolah, guru, orang tua dan peserta didik di RA Lab School Integrated IAI YASNI Bungo. Data dikumpulkan melalui metode observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan model analisis deskriptif-kualitaif. Data-data hasil penelitian diuji kembali keabsahannya dengan menggunakan kredibilitas, dependabilitas dan konfirmabilitas. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan implementasi kegiatan Mutaba’ah Yaumiyah dalam pendidikan karakter islami anak usia dini dengan langkah implementasi:(1) penyusunan perencanaan kegiatan, (2) pelaksanaan kegiatan dengan mengumumkan teknis dan langkah-langkah kegiatan, (3) rekapitulasi mingguan, (4) evaluasi dan penutup. Keberhasilan kegiatan Mutaba’ah Yaumiyah dalam pendidikan karakter islami dilihat dari beberapa indikator perkembangan nilai moral dan agama; anak membiasakan diri melaksanakan sholat, anak menunjukkan perilaku suka menolong, anak berbicara yang sopan, anak menghormati guru dan orang yang lebih tua, anak menunjukkan perilaku benar dan salah. Dari semua indikator perkembangan tersebut anak mengalami perkembangan yang cukup baik semenjak diimplementasikannya kegiatan Mutaba’ah Yaumiyah.

Abstract

From the amount of data obtained on the number of teachers teaching at SMPN 19 Mataram, the situation of the learning process was analyzed. Learning at SMPN 19 Mataram mostly still uses manual materials using printed books. For this reason, this training was deemed necessary so that SMPN 19 Mataram teachers could make technology-integrated teaching materials. One of the technologies that can support teaching materials especially in teaching students achievement in the field of English is the Powtoon Program. This application is a web-based animation software that allows users to quickly and easily create animated presentations by manipulating pre-made objects, imported images, provided music, and user-generated voiceovers. Powtoons are used by businesses to create attractive and creative presentations that attract attention, and can also be used for educational assessments and content delivery. PowToon is a tool similar in operation to Power Point, Impress, or even Prezi. It uses a slide on which text and images can be added, but also allows animation and the incorporation of sound or music, available within the same application or via an external source.

Abstract

keterbatasan kesadaran mahasiswa tentang optimalisasi penggunaan MLS sebagai media yang dapat menunjang belajar mandiri meskipun telah diterapkan sebagai media belajar komplementer, tetapi belum sepenuhnya efektif. Sehingga hal ini mengurangi potensi maksimal dalam mendukung proses belajar mereka. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesadaran mahasiswa mengenai penggunaan Management Learning System (MLS) dalam mendukung pembelajaran mandiri. Isu yang diangkat adalah rendahnya kesadaran mahasiswa tentang MLS, yang berdampak pada efektivitas pembelajaran daring guna meningkatkan pembelajaran mandiri. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, metode yang digunakan, yaitu sosialisasi; ceramah, diskusi, tanya-jawab, dan demonstrasi langsung. Kegiatan ini terdiri dari tiga tahapan: persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan PkM ini menunjukkan bahwa bahwa (85%) peserta merasa lebih memahami cara menggunakan MLS setelah pelatihan, dan (78%) merasa siap untuk menerapkan MLS dalam pembelajaran mandiri. Selain itu, (90%) peserta menyatakan bahwa kegiatan ini bermanfaat bagi mereka. Kesimpulan kegiatann ini menunjukkan keberhasilan dalam memperkuat pemahaman mahasiswa tentang penggunaan MLS, sekaligus mendukung peningkatan pembelajaran mandiri dalam konteks pembelajaran daring.

Abstract

The aim of community service activities is to provide English language training to students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Program Keagamaan (MAN-PK) MAN 2 Mataram. This learning training uses the Duolinglo Application. This training or course involves 2 classes of class X students totaling 50 participants in September and November 2024 at MAN PK MAN 2 Mataram. Each group was asked to use the Duolingo application to integrate English learning. This application is a gamification application, meaning users can learn English like playing games because this application uses audio-visual methods in learning. The methods used in this training are lecture, discussion and direct practice. The result of this service activity is that there is an increase in participants' skills and knowledge in speaking and writing using the Duolingo application. The results of evaluation and monitoring by applying the average post-test score show that the average post-test score (72.18) is greater than the average pretest score (35.78). The implications of community service activities can increase students' knowledge of English at school by using the Duolingo application.

Abstract

This study investigates the integration of digital media in Content-based Language Teaching (CBLT) to improve reading comprehension in contexts involving English for Specific Purposes (ESP). Using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, the study was conducted over two cycles involving 79 undergraduate students from the Management Study Program at Universitas Bumigora. Digital media—including a Moodle-based Learning Management System (LMS), WhatsApp group discussions, and AI-generated video content–were implemented to support student engagement and content understanding. Quantitative data from pre- and post-tests revealed a significant improvement, with a mean score increase of 34.35 points (p < .001). Qualitative data from classroom observations indicated enhanced learner autonomy, increased peer collaboration, and better task engagement, particularly in the second cycle. The findings suggest that integrating digital platforms into ESP instruction improves comprehension and fosters student-centered learning environments. This study supports previous research on the pedagogical potential of digital media in language education and provides a practical model for embedding technology in higher education language classrooms.

Abstract

This study discusses Language Variations in Perumnas. In the research method, the data were analyzed based on the definition of descriptive qualitative method with the data technique of Simak Libat Bebas Cakap (SLBC), Recording technique,Observation and Note taking Technique. This study uses the theory of Sudaryanto (1993) regarding the method Simak. The conversations of the Perumnas social group were analyzed. Then each word in the conversation is classified based on the type and the causal factor. After analyzing the researcher explained the data found later and concluded this research. From several aspects that have been mentioned in Language Variations in chapter two, there are several types of language variations used in Perumnas 4 formal data variety, 9 data variety informal, 10 data variety Casual,3 data variety Intimate, and 1 data variety Consultative.

Abstract

The Village Letter Submission System is a system, either manual or digital, used by the community to submit applications for the creation of various types of letters or official documents from the village government. This service aims to simplify the administrative process and accelerate public services at the village level, in this case the village of Akar-Akar. The village letter submission system that will be created is synchronized with the population data of the community in the village of Akar-Akar, which will later be able to access this system only the people of the village of Akar-Akar. The method used in this service is the Waterfall model or linear sequential model. This waterfall method describes a systematic and sequential approach to software development, which begins with the specification of user needs (communication) and continues through the stages of planning (planning), modeling, (modeling), construction (construction), and handover of the system/software to the user (deployment), which ends with ongoing support for the system. It is the same as the problem in the village of Akar-Akar where correspondence is still manual. Even though this village already has a website, it has not been utilized properly. A website is an information page provided via the internet, so it can be accessed anywhere as long as it is connected to the internet network. Thus, a service was carried out with the theme of training in creating a village letter submission system by synchronizing village population data on the village website. In order to facilitate correspondence in the village roots and utilize the existing website.

Abstract

This study investigates how religious and cultural values are embedded in Indonesian Ramadan advertisements through Multimodal Discourse Analysis (MDA). The research focuses on the 2025 campaigns of two prominent instant noodle brands, Sedaap and Indomie, which utilize verbal, visual, and auditory elements to construct persuasive narratives. The study aims to examine how Islamic symbols, national identity, and familial values are communicated through these multimodal resources. Using frameworks from Kress, G., & van Leeuwen, (2006) and theories on pious consumerism and cultural discourse, the findings reveal that the advertisements serve not only as promotional tools but also as cultural texts that reflect and shape Muslim identity. Sedaap emphasizes youthful, pop-cultural appeal, while Indomie presents emotional narratives rooted in gratitude and togetherness. The study concludes that commercial branding during Ramadan actively contributes to the construction of religio-cultural ideology in modern Indonesia. These insights offer implications for media literacy, religious communication, and branding ethics.

Abstract

Adapun tujuan pengabdian ini adalah melihat sejauh mana dampak peran mahasiswa dalam program Kampus Mengajar dalam meningkatkan literasi dan numerasi di sekolah sasaran yaitu SD Islam Darussalam. Mengingat begitu pentingnya pembelajaran bagi peserta didik untuk memiliki kemampuan literasi numerasi. Metode yang dilakukan pada pengabdian ini adalah observasi dan wawancara. Observasi dilakukan sebagai awal penugasan di sekolah SD Islam Darussalam. Observasi dilakukan selama kurang dari 1 minggu yaitu pada saat setelah selesai pelepasan langsung melakukan observasi sekolah dengan melihat bagian bagian sudut sekolah. Selama 1 minggu observasi sekolah bertujuan menemukan beberapa hal seperti keadaan sekolah, fasilitas sekolah, jumlah murid dan jumlah guru, serta kegiatan-kegiatan sehari-hari di sekolah. Selain menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara juga dilakukan untuk mencari lebih jelas mengenai informasi tentang sekolah sasaran. Beberapa orang diwawancai untuk mendapatkan informasi antara lain melakukan wawancara kepada kepala sekolah, guru pamong, dan operator sekolah. Wawancara dilakukan untuk mengetahui lebih jauh tentang sekolah SD Islam Darussalam. Beberapa rencana kegiatan dan hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan telah selesai berdasarkan hasil observasi yang ada di sekolah sasaran. Program yang direncanakan sudah berjalan sesuai harapan seperti berkolaborasi dengan guru kelas, diskusi terkait metode pembelajaran yang tidak monoton hanya satu arah, dan menciptakan suasana kelas yang hidup dan menarik dengan menggunakan media inovatif. Peserta didik sebelumnya sebelumnya hanya menggunakan buku paket saja, namun sejak diterapkan adaptasi teknologi peserta didik sudah mulai dikenalkan dengan media pembelajaran berbasis teknogi seperti penggunaan power point. Selain itu, aplikasi canva juga dimanfaatkan untuk membantu pembuatan media pembalajaran seperti pembuatan grafis media sosial, presentasi, poster, dokumen, dan konten visual lainnya.
