Abstract

Hasil akhir dari sebuah proses pendidikan adalah pembentukan karakter. Penelitian ini menggali Tafsir al-Azhar karya Buya Hamka untuk menguji perspektifnya tentang pendidikan karakter, dengan meneliti terminologi yang ia gunakan untuk menjelaskan maknanya. Menurut Buya Hamka, pendidikan karakter memiliki implikasi yang sangat besar bagi pendidikan nasional saat ini. Melalui pendekatan penelitian kualitatif yang berpusat pada investigasi berbasis kepustakaan, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi konseptualisasi Buya Hamka dengan menggunakan sumber-sumber primer dan sekunder. Ada banyak terminologi yang berkaitan dengan pendidikan karakter, namun dalam Tafsir al-Azhar, Buya Hamka menggunakan istilah ta'lim dan tarbiyyah sebagai padanan untuk pendidikan karakter. Dalam menjelaskan ayat-ayat tersebut, beliau sering menggunakan istilah akhlak karimah dan budi pekerti untuk menjelaskan makna karakter. Menurutnya, pendidikan karakter hanya akan membuahkan hasil jika dilandasi oleh nilai-nilai ketuhanan dan kesadaran diri bahwa manusia adalah hamba dan menjadi khalifah di muka bumi. Hal inilah yang membedakan konsep pendidikan karakter Buya Hamka dengan konsep pendidikan karakter pada umumnya, terutama dalam konteks Barat.   The final outcome of an educational process is the formation of character. This study delves into Buya Hamka's Tafsir al-Azhar to examine his perspective on character education, by scrutinizing the terminology he uses to elucidate its significance. According to Buya Hamka, character education holds profound implications for national education today. Through a qualitative research approach centered on library-based investigation, this study explores Buya Hamka's conceptualizations using primary and secondary sources. There are many terminologies related to character education, but in Tafsir al-Azhar, Buya Hamka uses the terms ta’lim and tarbiyah as equivalents for character education. In explaining these verses, he often uses the terms akhlak karimah and budi pekerti to elucidate the meaning of character. According to him, character education will only yield results if it is based on divine values and the self-awareness that humans are servants and serve as vicegerents in the world. This is the distinguishing aspect of Buya Hamka's concept of character education compared to general concepts of character education, especially those in Western contexts

Abstract

This research examines harmony in diversity and local cultural relations in Indonesia with a focus on the history of the entry of Islam, the balance of community life between religion and local culture, and efforts to build Islamic harmony in cultural diversity. The research approach used is a qualitative method with digital source-based data collection techniques. The research data was obtained through Dimensions, Google Scholar, and Publish or Perish applications to search for relevant literature, while data analysis was carried out with the help of Sciscape and VorViewers to map concept interactions and related scientific networks. The results show that the entry of Islam into Indonesia took place through trade, da'wah, and cultural assimilation that allowed Islam to adapt to local wisdom without eliminating the essence of religious teachings. The balance between Islamic teachings and local culture is reflected in various aspects of community life, including traditions, arts, and social systems that accommodate Islamic values without ignoring local cultural identity. In addition, this research found that efforts to build Islamic harmony in the diversity of local cultures in Indonesia require an inclusive approach, intercultural dialogue, and the active role of religious leaders and traditional leaders in aligning religious understanding with cultural values that have long developed in society. Thus, this research contributes to understanding how Islam and local culture can interact harmoniously without causing identity conflicts. The implications of this research are expected to serve as a basis for policy-making in building an inclusive, tolerant and civilised society, as well as a reference for further studies related to the relationship between religion and culture in the Indonesian context.

Abstract

This study presents an alternative approach to ideal body maintenance based on the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), particularly through the dietary combination of fresh dates (rutab) and cucumber within the framework of hot-cold temperament balance. In the context of Tibb al-Nabawi, foods are classified according to their thermal properties hot or cold as reflected in the Hadiths and the practices of the Prophet (PBUH). The core issue addressed in this study is the lack of a systematic scientific model that explains how this Sunnah-based dietary combination contributes to the regulation of bodily homeostasis and the attainment of an ideal physique. The main objective of this study is to formulate a holistic dietary model rooted in the Prophet’s Sunnah by integrating physiological, nutritional and spiritual dimensions. This research adopts a qualitative-descriptive methodology grounded in critical literature analysis of authentic Hadiths, classical medical texts and contemporary scientific findings in nutrition. The findings indicate that consuming seven fresh dates and seven slices of cucumber daily has the potential to support metabolic functions and regulate internal body temperature, though it does not serve as a primary source of calories. The proposed model emphasizes that dietary applications based on hot-cold principles should be adapted to individual physiological conditions whether hot, cold, thin, or overweight thus contributing to systemic bodily balance. The implications of this study extend beyond the scientific validation of prophetic dietary practices it offers a new discourse in Islamic health sciences and promotes the integration of tradition and science in shaping a spiritually rooted and culturally relevant healthy lifestyle.

Abstract

Tradisi sedekah basorakan merupakan tradisi sedekah yang dilakukan di masjid, mushala, dan surau secara turun-temurun dengan menyebutkan nama dan jumlah uang yang diberikan oleh pemberi sedekah, sehingga dianggap sebagai tindakan riya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap pelaksanaan tradisi sedekah basorakan yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat setempat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan antropologi akulturasi. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa tradisi sedekah basorakan yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat Jorong Lubuk Alung didasari oleh sebuah hadis tentang perlombaan sedekah para sahabat pada saat perang Tabuk. Prosesi pelaksanaan sedekah basorakan pada hari-hari besar Islam, seperti shalat Jumat, peringatan Isra' dan Mi'raj serta Idul Fitri. Prosesi sedekah basorakan memiliki dampak yang sangat besar dan jumlah yang diperoleh sangat besar, jika dibandingkan dengan sedekah melalui kotak infak yang dipajang di masjid. Bagi masyarakat setempat, sedekah basorakan bukanlah bagian dari riya, karena bukan orang yang bersedekah yang menyebutkan hasil sedekahnya, melainkan orang lain yang telah diamanahi untuk menyampaikan jumlah sedekah dan pemberi sedekah. Tradisi sedekah basorakan merupakan bentuk akulturasi agama dan budaya yang masih dipertahankan oleh masyarakat setempat dengan menggunakan cara basorakan dalam memotivasi orang lain untuk bersedekah.

Abstract

The residential environment plays a pivotal role in shaping students’ character, yet empirical studies in Malaysia particularly in semi-rural campuses such as UTHM Pagoh remain scarce. The shifting lifestyles of students living away from their families highlight the urgent need to examine how physical conditions, social interactions and prevailing norms within their residential settings influence character formation. This study aims to analyze the impact of residential environment on the character development of UTHM Pagoh students. Employing a quantitative survey design with 304 respondents, data were analyzed using simple regression via SPSS 25. The findings reveal that the residential environment has a statistically significant effect on students’ character (0,000 < 0,05), although its contribution is relatively small (8.6%). These results affirm that residential factors while not dominant, remain integral in shaping students’ moral behavior alongside family background, digital media and academic engagement. Theoretically, this study expands the discourse on character education by highlighting the often-overlooked role of residential context. Practically, the implications offer valuable insights for universities and policymakers in designing dormitory environments and character-building programs that are more conducive, inclusive and effective. [Lingkungan tempat tinggal memainkan peran penting dalam membentuk karakter mahasiswa, namun kajian empiris di Malaysia khususnya pada kampus semi-pedesaan seperti UTHM Pagoh masih sangat terbatas. Perubahan gaya hidup mahasiswa yang tinggal jauh dari keluarga menimbulkan kebutuhan mendesak untuk menilai sejauh mana kondisi fisik, interaksi sosial dan norma di lingkungan tempat tinggal memengaruhi pembentukan karakter mereka. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh lingkungan tempat tinggal terhadap karakter mahasiswa UTHM Pagoh. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei terhadap 304 responden dan data dianalisis menggunakan regresi sederhana melalui SPSS 25. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lingkungan tempat tinggal berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pembentukan karakter mahasiswa yaitu 0,000 < 0,05, meskipun kontribusinya relatif kecil yaitu sebesar 8,6%. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa faktor lingkungan tempat tinggal tetap penting sebagai salah satu elemen pembentuk karakter di samping pengaruh keluarga, media digital dan interaksi akademik. Secara teoritis, penelitian ini memperkaya literatur pendidikan karakter dengan menekankan dimensi residensial sebagai faktor yang sering diabaikan. Secara praktis, implikasinya dapat dijadikan rujukan bagi pihak universitas maupun pembuat kebijakan dalam merancang lingkungan asrama serta program pengembangan karakter yang lebih kondusif, inklusif dan efektif.]
