Abstract

Abstract

Small-scale fisheries generally refer to fisheries activities carried out by individuals or small groups using simple equipment and relatively small production capacity compared to large commercial fisheries. It has many obstacles and challenges faced by the perpetrators, including the technology used tends to be very simple. The same problem is also faced by tilapia farmers in Maffa Village, East Gane District, South Halmahera Regency. This community service activity aimed to implement an effective water quality management system in community tilapia rearing ponds, especially small-scale ones in Maffa Village. The activity was carried out in August-September 2024. The stages of activity implementation start from the preparation stage by the implementation team, socialization of activities, counseling to target partners in the form of delivering material related to the topic of activities, implementing the technology of aquaculture pond water quality management systems, and evaluation. The result of this activity is the implementation of counseling activities on effective water quality management systems in aquaculture ponds. In addition, the application of technology in the form of an aeration system was also well implemented, where the target partners' aquaculture ponds currently use a blower equipped with a diffusser to supply dissolved oxygen in the pond. The evaluation of the activity showed that more than 80% of the target partners understood and had skills in the application of this technology, where 81.82% of the cultivator group members understood the material about the technology applied and 90.91% actively participated and had skills in the technology application activities carried out. In conclusion, this activity has been successfully carried out in the form of counseling and the availability of aeration systems in the target partners' tilapia farming ponds.

Abstract

Awanggoa Village in Bacan District, South Halmahera Regency, has experienced significant residential expansion, converting around 9 hectares of mangrove land into a residential area. The remaining mangrove ecosystem, covering an area of 16.84 hectares in the northern part of the village, is starting to experience degradation, especially along the coast and southern areas. This condition requires management policies that ensure the sustainability of the ecosystem. The purpose of this research is to analyze the NDVI condition of the mangrove ecosystem, as well as measure biomass, carbon stock, and CO2 absorption, using remote sensing methods via the GEE application (https://code.earthengine.google.com) with data collected from January 1 to December 31, 2023. The research results show a total biomass of 101.21 tons ha, carbon stock of 47.57 tons C ha, and CO2 storage of 174.88 tons C. Dense vegetation is very important for carbon storage and emission reduction, thus supporting sustainable mangrove ecosystem management and environmental conservation efforts.

Abstract

North Maluku Province is an archipelagic province that has a sea area of 113,796.53 km2 or 70% of the land area. As an archipelagic area, North Maluku waters have high biodiversity. One of the important biota in North Maluku waters is the eel. Eel is one of the water resources that have high economic value, because of its nutritional contentEel (Anguilla sp) is a catadromous fish that begins its life in the larval or juvenile phase in marine waters and grows up in brackish and fresh waters. This study aims to determine the distribution of eel species (Anguilla sp) in the seas and the morphometric eel (Anguilla sp) in kayoa waters. The results showed that the number of eels found at both stations was 13 tails. The results of the morphological analysis showed that the type of eel found at both stations was A. marmorata, the morphometric identification results showed that at station 1, the total length range was 50 - 106 cm, with a weight of 460-4100 grams, while at station 2 obtained a length range of 65 cm - 83 cm, with a weight of 79 -1300 grams. Key Word: Area, Morphometri, Anguilla, Small Island, Tropis

Abstract

The low environmental quality of pond water is caused, among other things, by the large amount of organic waste and nutrients (feed components) in pond water outflow. The remaining feed and feces (feces) decompose in pond water before being dumped into the nearby rivers, resulting in the discharge of high levels of nutrients and organic waste. One method for enhancing the effluent quality from aquaculture is a biofilter. In order to reduce and absorb dissolved organic contaminants, biofilters are used. It is possible to employ Gracilaria sp. as a biofilter, which is an efficient technique to increase sanitation. The study' goals were to determine how well Gracilaria sp. developed and how well seaweed absorbed N and P elements from vaname shrimp culture waste, specifically ammonia (NH3), nitrite (NO2), and nitrate (NO3). Three different treatments for the weights of the seaweed were employed in the study: 50, 75, and 100 grams. The analysis showed that the 100 g of Gracilaria sp. was very effective in absorbing N and P waste. It was discovered that N and P component absorption was, respectively, 75.10% and 75.15% effective.
