Abstract

This research aimed at knowing the effectiveness of online learning design with an e-portfolio approach in increasing self-efficacy in speaking ability. Seventy-seven students were involved in this study. They are in the second semester of a vocational college in Business Administration Department in the academic year 2020/2021. This research is experimental research with implementing paired samples t-test as the measurement tool in knowing the effectiveness of e-portfolio based learning by finding the t score and the sig value before and after the implementation of the teaching method. The result of this study showed that e-portfolio based learning had a significant effect on the student's self-efficacy in their speaking ability. It was indicated by the value of the sig and t result from paired samples t-test analysis which was showed 0.000 as the sig value and -20.551 as the t count. The result of sig value which is below 0.05 and the t-count which is above t-table were clear indicators to argue that e-portfolio significantly impacted the student's self-efficacy in speaking ability. In this case, the variables of self-efficacy in speaking ability were improved significantly by the implementation of e-portfolio based learning. Even the implementation of e-portfolio brings many positive impacts on the students, some limitations lie on this method implementation. The limitation of this method lies in the time execution and the number of students who are taught by the lecturer.

Abstract

This research is a research that investigates the social perception of teachers towards digital literacy in learning English in elementary schools. Then it was also explored about the obstacles in implementing digital literacy in learning English. Data acquisition and analysis was carried out qualitatively, using instruments in the form of a list of interview questions and also observation sheets. The results of this study are the teacher's social perception is very positive. The teachers have the same perspective where the teacher has a goal to make learning more varied, effective, easy, and fun. Then the teacher also has a goal to improve students' English skills along with increasing their digital literacy skills. The obstacles experienced by teachers are that there are still limited supporting infrastructure, such as PC or gadgets that are still lacking and students still do not have PC or gadgets that are controlled independently.

Abstract

This study explores the foreign language anxiety of elementary school children in learning English in elementary schools in Marga District, Tabanan. English is a local content learning. The result is as follows. Researchers found how the occurrence of student anxiety in learning English and the factors that cause it. In general, this is due to (1) the lack of time allocation for them to get English lessons, (2) they get more theory in class than they get direct practice in the field, (3) they rarely use English because in the family and society they rarely do it. Communication in English. Then specifically, the factors that cause them to be anxious are (1) Their lack of confidence in using English, (2) Fear of negative judgments, and (3) Fear of being inferior to friends or fear of being compared to friends.

Abstract

This study aims to produce an android e-module in the form of a flip book based on Balinese local wisdom on the course of early childhood language development methods that meet the feasibility in terms of content and construct validity as well as practical use in the classroom. This is a research and development (R&D) method with the Borg & Gall model. This study collected data using interview guidelines, questionnaires, and observation sheets. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistics. The obtained data are then examined to determine the validity and practicability of the produced product. According to the testing findings, the android e-module in the form of a Flip Book based on Balinese local knowledge has fulfilled the feasibility in terms of content validity in the very excellent category with a score of 4.63 out of a possible score of 5.00. Meanwhile, students' ratings in terms of practicality in terms of time usage, which is classed as efficient, are in the good category, totaling 3.76 out of a maximum score of 5.00. The results of this study have implications for the use of e-modules which can be used as an alternative in teaching effective, efficient, and interesting language development methods courses because they are packaged in digital form.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of code-switching in the introduction of English in TK and KB Swasti Karya, Megati Village, Tabanan Regency, Bali. The factors causing the use of code-switching are also one of the aim in this research. This research is a qualitative descriptive study in which the researcher analyzes the speech of teachers and children in the introduction to English class in TK and KB Swasti Karya. There are 4 teachers and 59 children are divided into TK and KB groups. The instrument used is a list of observation guidelines, interviews, and documentation. An in-depth analysis was carried out on the utterances using the code-switching theory by Poplack (2001). The results of this study found 18 utterances indicated code-switching. A total of 7 utterances are categorized in insertion (intra-sentential code-switching), and 11 utterances are categorized in alternation (inter-sentential code-switching). Meanwhile, the category of congruent lexicalization was not found in this study. Then the factors that influence the use of this code-switching are (1) to convey meaning effectively when facing difficulties in conveying meaning, (2) making communication more inclusive or closer to certain students/groups/etc, (3) improve students' understanding when they have not achieved the learning objectives, (4) to convey meaning or understanding contextually, (5) for meaning or understanding, (6) helping to help learners of English as a Foreign Language for bilingual children.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan metode-metode pendidikan karakterbermuatan Tri Kaya Parisudha di Pratama Widya Pasraman Saraswati, (2)mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter bermuatan Tri Kaya Parisudha diPratama Widya Pasraman Saraswati, dan (3) mendeskripsikan kendala-kendala yangdihadapi guru di Pratama Widya Pasraman Saraswati dalam mengembangkan nilai-nilaipendidikan karakter bermuatan Tri Kaya Parisudha. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalahkualitatif dengan subjek guru, siswa, dan kepala sekolah di Pratama Widya PasramanSaraswati. Data penelitian diperoleh menggunakan wawancara dan studi dokumen.Selanjutnya data dianalisis secara kualitatif. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan,ditemukan beberapa temuan sebagai berikut: (1) metode-metode pendidikan karakterbermuatan Tri Kaya Parisudha di Pratama Widya Pasraman Saraswati terfokus padametode keteladanan dan metode pembiasaan , (2) nilai-nilai pendidikan karakterbermuatan Tri Kaya Parisudha di Pratama Widya Pasraman Saraswati, yaitu: berpikirpositif, religius, meyakini hukum sebab akibat, berkata sopan, berkata jujur, kasih sayang,berbuat jujur, peduli sesama dan lingkungan, dan disiplin, (3) kendala-kendala penerapanpendidikan karakter bermuatan Tri Kaya Parisudha terbagi atas kendala internal yangbersumber dari kemampuan anak dalam mencerna nilai-nilai karakter bermuatan TriKaya Parisudha dan kendala eksternal yang bersumber dari keterlibatan orang tua.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis program pekenan di KB Rare Diatmika mengenai proses kegiatan pekenan, bagaimana nilai kreativitas dan kewirausahaan ditanamkan, serta kendala dan solusi yang dapat ditawarkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang disajikan secara deskriptif. Data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui proses observasi dan wawancara mendalam dengan guru, pengelola, dan orang tua murid. Untuk itu disiapkan lembar observasi dan kuesioner wawancara. Wawancara direkam dengan menggunakan alat perekam. Dalam analisis data dilakukan reduksi data, display data, lalu penarikan kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pekenan di KB Rare diatmika menerapkan konsep yang sangat sederhana selain mengoptimalkan potensi lingkungan yang ada di desa dan sekitar lembaga, yaitu dari hasil penerimaan barang dagangan yang dibawa peserta didik dan orang tua serta dari kebun sekolah yang dikelola. Penanaman nilai kreativitas dan kewirausahaan dengan mengoptimalkan potensi lingkungan mampu menumbuhkan karakter anak yang mandiri, kreatif, berani mengambil resiko, kepemimpinan, orientasi pada tindakan, dan kerja keras. Penelitian ini berimplikasi pada pendidikan di tingkat PAUD, khususnya KB, agar lebih variatif dan kontekstual sesuai dengan. Pengelola sekolah PAUD lainnya mendapatkan variasi dan pilihan dalam mengembangkan potensi anak dengan memanfaatkan potensi daerah tempat Sekolah PAUD tersebut berada.

Students with ASD have obvious characteristics that they have limitations in making communication and have low social awareness. For that reason, they need to be supported on how they can improve their communication ability. This research aimed to describe how the social environment is empowered and created to help students with ASD learn to communicate. The study's design was a multi-case study conducted in an inclusive school in North Bali. Three cases of students with ASD with their teachers, the school principal, and a technical assistant were involved as the study's subjects. The data were collected for 12 months and analyzed qualitatively. The study results show that several types of social environments were modified to teach students about basic communications such as morning circles, cooperative buddy programs, sensory garden programs, modelling, and go-play activities. The use of the programs functions as scaffolding, which then indicates improvements in the students ' social interactions and basic communication. Abstract

A preliminary study found that the students faced literacy skill problems. The results of pre-tests proved that the mean score achieved by grade 4 was 42.49 (very low), grade 5 was 63.06 (low), and grade 6 was 49.58 (very low). Regarding these findings, this study further aimed to analyze whether implementing a discovery learning model that optimized a digital thematic multilingual dictionary could improve the elementary students’ literacy skills. This study involved four main steps, plan, act, observe, and reflect. The samples were 84 students determined purposively for deciding three classes among those nine classes representing 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. There were two kinds of tests, pre-test and post-test. The pre-tests were used to measure the literacy level before treatments, while the post-tests were employed to count for the literacy level after treatment. After four sessions of treatments and two post-tests, it was discovered that students' literacy skills could have been notably improved. The mean scores obtained on the second cycle, respectively, were 86.77 (high), 93.66 (very high), and 95.55 (very high). These results imply that the discovery learning model utilizing a digital thematic multilingual dictionary can enhance elementary school students’ literacy skills. Thus, it is strongly recommended that students regularly use dictionaries for their self-directed learning.
