Abstract

The community service program, "Health education and physical examinations, blood pressure, blood sugar, and free medical treatment at the Pratama Hibas Clinic in Simalungun Regency," was successfully implemented. Health is a human right and an investment for the success of national development. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a leading cause of heart failure, stroke, and kidney failure. High blood pressure is called the "silent killer" because people with it often don't show symptoms. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute estimates that half of people with high blood pressure are unaware of their condition. Once diagnosed, patients' blood pressure should be monitored at regular intervals, as high blood pressure is a lifelong condition. Therefore, comprehensive health development is necessary to create a healthy society. The community has received positive feedback, and they hope similar activities will be held regularly. This kind of health education should be ongoing for both the community and their families, as increasing age or apathy among the community can endanger their health. Furthermore, children and siblings in the community also share the responsibility to maintain the health of their fathers, mothers, and siblings with adequate knowledge

Abstract

The increase in Covid-19 cases continues daily, making it a global pandemic problem. Besides health effects, this pandemic also affects education conducted online, declining economy, and public psychology due to activity restrictions. This community service program focuses on health sector, providing education on clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS) with direct practice as Covid-19 transmission prevention efforts. Prevention of spread and transmission is crucial in community life and activities. This program is expected to help break the transmission chain, especially during the new normal period. The target is residents, particularly children in Perumnas area, Simalungun Regency. This location was chosen based on observation showing minimal knowledge of clean and healthy lifestyle, especially among children. Therefore, this socialization program was conducted using language easily understood by them. The program included handwashing station installation, education on proper handwashing techniques, mask usage education, and distribution of vitamins and masks to residents

Abstract

Ejection Fraction (EF) is a parameter for assessing the heart's ability to pump blood throughout the body. Currently, ultrasound is frequently used to detect EF values, but it has limitations such as poor acoustic window and operator dependency. Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) examination has advantages in providing accurate EF values with two measurement methods: Short Axis and Long Axis view. This study aims to determine the accuracy of left ventricular ejection fraction values in CMR examination using short axis and long axis view methods compared to echocardiography. Method: descriptive quantitative research design on EF calculation conducted at radiology installation in Jakarta hospital from July-October 2022 with 33 patient samples. Data were obtained through observation and measurement using CVI 42 software on 1.5T GE Signa Voyager MRI device. Results: The average EF percentage on LVEF-EC measurement method was 41%, LVEF-SA 40%, and LVEF-LA 43%. The accuracy showed EC-SA average difference of 0.939 with 3% percentage and EC-LA average difference of 1.812 with 5% percentage. Conclusion: Short axis method is more accurate compared to long axis, thus can be used as standard procedure for CMR examination to provide quality diagnostic services.

Abstract

Radiation Safety and Health in the Utilization of Ionizing Radiation, hereinafter referred to as radiation safety, is an effort undertaken to create conditions such that the effects of ionizing radiation on humans and the environment do not exceed the determined threshold values. This study aims to examine the implementation of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) management system in the Radiology Unit at Efarina Etaham General Hospital, Pematangsiantar, and to provide insights and information for radiology workers regarding the PPE management system in the radiology unit. This research is descriptive in nature, utilizing a checklist measurement tool administered to two radiology workers. Based on the research conducted in the Radiology Unit at Efarina Etaham General Hospital, Pematangsiantar, regarding the Personal Protective Equipment Usage Management System, it can be concluded that radiology workers have not been using all the required PPE as mandated for a Class C hospital, such as Lead Aprons, Lead Glasses, Face Shields, Gloves, and other protective equipment. Therefore, it is recommended that the hospital management provide the necessary PPE for workers to use in carrying out their duties

Abstract

Community-Based Midwifery Care (CMBC) is a crucial approach to improving the accessibility and quality of maternal and neonatal care, particularly in rural and remote areas. Integrating CMBC into primary health care (PHC) systems offers significant potential to strengthen overall health services, reduce disparities in access, and ultimately reduce maternal mortality (MMR) and neonatal mortality (NMR). This literature review examines the definition and principles of CMBC, successful integration models, and the benefits and challenges of integrating CMBC into PHC. The aim is to provide insights for policymakers, health program managers, and practitioners on how to strengthen the role of community midwives and maximize their contribution to achieving global health goals.

Abstract

Midwives play a central role in the health system, particularly in maternal and child health services. However, high work demands, stressful work environments, and significant emotional burdens often make midwives vulnerable to occupational stress. This literature review examines the factors contributing to occupational stress in midwives, effective stress management strategies, and the impact of occupational stress on the quality of midwifery care and midwifery health. A thorough understanding of these issues is essential for developing interventions that support midwife well-being and ensure the provision of quality midwifery care.

Abstract

Accurate, complete, and real-time maternal and neonatal data is an essential foundation for policy planning, clinical decision-making, program monitoring, and evaluation of maternal and neonatal health outcomes. Health Information Systems (HIS) have significant potential to transform the way these data are managed, from error-prone manual recording to efficient, integrated systems. This literature review aims to explore strategies for optimizing HIS in maternal and neonatal data management, identifying existing challenges, potential benefits, and best approaches for implementation and maintenance. The review indicates that integrated and user-friendly HIS can improve data quality, reduce duplication, accelerate reporting, support evidence-based decision-making, and facilitate epidemiological surveillance. Key challenges include system interoperability, the digital divide, user resistance, and the need for ongoing training. Optimizing HIS requires political commitment, infrastructure investment, and human resource capacity development.
