Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused residents of RT 01 / RW 01, Kelurahan Dukuh Pakis, Surabaya to face problems in the form of a decrease in residents' income and a potential shortage of foodstuffs due to the implementation of the lockdown policy (PSBB). The solution offered to mitigate this problem is to conduct training on the introduction and use of wild plants for food, as well as online assistance with botanists in developing wild food plant gardens on unused land located in the middle of residential areas. Online assistance is carried out using WhatsApp in residents’ groups. Apart from online assistance through WhatsApp, residents are also provided with modules in PDF format and an online learning video. This community development program is expected to give the residents of RT 01 / RW 01 Kelurahan Dukuh Pakis, Surabaya an insight into the benefits of wild plants as an alternative food source; ability to manage alternative plant cultivation independently or collectively; and realizing food self-sufficiency with various types of wild plants in anticipation of a food crisis due to the Corona virus. There are 4 (four) outputs from this program: 1) publication in an ISSN journal; 2) publication in print / electronic mass media; 3) online learning videos on the use of wild plants; and 4) availability of beneficial wild plant gardens as alternative food sources.

Abstract

This study aims to estimate the technical efficiency of food and beverage industry in East Java in 2011 to 2013 using micro data at the company level. Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) are used to estimate technical efficiency. The output variable was the value of production, while input variables were capital, labor, raw material, and energy. The Likelihood Ratio test dictates that the Translog production function is more appropriate for use in this study. The estimation results show that the efficiency of food and beverage companies in East Java by using SFA has decreased significantly by 3.02%, whereas with the DEA method, the average technical efficiency has increased by 0.583% compared to the beginning of the year in 2011. In addition, there is difference in the efficiency value between SFA and DEA. The technical efficiency value of SFA calculation is greater than that of DEA. The dissimilarity is caused by the difference of specification in both methods related to the interaction between uncaptured variables in the DEA method. The results of this policy have implications on the government's obligation to pay attention to the food and beverage industry in order to suppress the company’ various operating costs, such as maintenance for old machines, which has an impact on on technical efficiency or improve the ability of labor in terms of machinery utilization. Therefore, in the following year, the performance of the food and beverage industry as the largest sub-sector in manufacturing is able to show the progress.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of financial inclusion on the level of income inequality 38 districts/cities in East Java from 2015 to 2021. Using the Generalized Method of Moment (GMM) analysis, its is known that financial inclusion has a negative influence on the level of income inequality in East Java. That is, the more financially inclusive in East Java, the lower the income inequality that occurs. Based on these results, the efforts that have been taken so far by the East Java government to increase financial inclusion must continue to be increased so as to reduce the level of income inequality between districts/cities in the province.

Abstract

Technological advances are currently growing rapidly, financial technology is no exception. The development of financial technology has had an impact on innovation in the payment system from a cash payment system to a non-cash payment system. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of non-cash payment transactions on economic growth in 5 ASEAN countries. The variable of economic growth in this study is calculated through the growth of real GDP published by the World Bank (WDI), and the variable of non-cash payments in this study is assumed to be through the growth of the transaction value of debit cards, credit cards, e-money and cheques issued by the Bank International of Settlement (BIS). The data used in this study is secondary data in the form of panels (annual) in 5 ASEAN countries from 2012 to 2019. The analytical method used in this study is the panel data regression method. The results of this study indicate that the growth in the value of non-cash payment transactions in the form of debit cards and e-money has proven to be able to stimulate economic growth in these countries. Meanwhile, payments by credit cards and cheques had no impact on economic growth. This is because debit cards provide direct access to consumers personal funds, making it easier for the public to consume goods and can also contribute to economic growth. As an electronic payment instrument, e-money has also been proven to provide benefits for alternative payments, especially for micro and retail payments. Through the use of e-money, the goverment's income can increase from the increasing number of customers who have used e-money payments, so that this can encourage an increase in economic growth.

Abstract

Background: Social assistance, such as Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) and the Family Hope Program (PKH), is among the instruments used to eradicate stunting in the short and long term. Therefore, it is important to ensure that individuals effectively use it. Aims: This study aimed to review the effect of social assistance on stunting prevalence rates in Indonesia. Methods: This research employs a quantitative approach, utilizing numerical measurements and statistical analysis. The data is secondary and sourced from the Central Bureau of Statistics and the Ministry of Finance. The specific method applied is the generalized method of moments (GMM) dynamic panel regression. The research sample encompasses panel data from 34 provinces from 2015 to 2021. This study utilizes the indicator of very short height for children less than five years of age as a proxy for stunting. Furthermore, low height in children is adopted as a measure of stunting. Furthermore, this study adopted a measure of low height in children to indicate stunting. Results: The results showed that social assistance negatively affected stunting, supported by various other indicators such as the proportion of proper sanitation, the average length of schooling, protein consumption, and drinking water sources. Meanwhile, excessive calorie consumption increases stunting in a certain period. Conclusion: In this condition, government social assistance was urgently needed since access to the lowest decile households increased stunting rates. The practical implications for policy derived from these findings involve optimizing the efficiency of social assistance initiatives, emphasizing the significance of addressing environmental factors in programs aimed at preventing stunting, integrating health and nutrition initiatives, and implementing educational campaigns within communities to raise awareness about calorie consumption. Abstract

Fintech Peer-to-peer (P2P) lending sharia is an evolution of sharia financial institutions through the use of technology in its operational processes. The millennial generation who grew up with technology has a greater talent in utilizing technology and has deeper insights compared to the previous generation. The purpose of this study is to analyze the determinants that influence Muslim millennials to invest in the Islamic P2P lending sector and determine strategies to improve its effectiveness. Latent variables Attitude Towards Behavior (AT), Subjective Norm (SN), Perceived Behavioral Control (PBC), Financial Literacy (FL), and Behavioral Intention (BI) are selected and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using SmartPLS. This study used an accidental sampling method which was carried out for 30 days of data collection, where 200 respondents were collected. The respondents were specifically the millennial Muslim generation who had invested in financial institutions at least once. The results showed that all latent variables had a significant influence and PBC had the largest contribution. There are three latent variables that have a significant positive effect on BI, namely AT, PBC, and FL. Meanwhile, only SN has a significant negative effect on BI. Therefore, it is necessary to increase literacy in the Indonesian community. Regulators and implementers must collaborate and synergize in improving Islamic financial literacy in Indonesia. For further research development, other variables or samples from different groups can be used to further enrich literacy in Islamic P2P lending.
