Abstract

Credit has a positive role in encouraging economic growth in Indonesia. A factor that can influence the level of credit distribution is consumer confidence in economic conditions. Therefore, this research aims to examine the influence of the consumer confidence index and several other factors, such as inflation, third-party funds, and credit interest rates on commercial bank credit distribution in Indonesia. By using time series data for the period 2008:1-2019:12 and the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method, this research shows that the level of consumer confidence in Indonesia’s economic conditions has a positive effect on credit distribution. The higher inflation encourages customers to apply for more credit. Apart from that, the high and low levels of credit disbursement were also positively influenced by the amount of third-party funds but were not affected by high or low credit interest rates. Thus, keeping consumer confidence high and inflation under control even though it is increasing, and raising the number of third-party funds is essential so that the economy continues to grow through the transmission of credit lines.

Abstract

This study is aimed to examine the impact of the total cases of COVID-19, interest rates, and money supply on inflation in ASEAN-5. Using the Panel Vector Error Correction Model (PVECM), the study reveals that the number of COVID-19 cases has a negative impact on inflation in ASEAN-5 both in the short and long run. The higher the total cases, the lower the inflation in the region. This was caused by a shock from the demand aspect due to the large number of people who were not working, so that household income decreased. A decrease in income will certainly impact on a decrease in demand which will affect equilibrium inflation. In addition, some control variables such as interest rates have a negative effect on inflation in the long run. Meanwhile, the money supply has no significant effect on inflation during the pandemic.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of financial inclusion on inclusive economic growth in Indonesia using data from 34 provinces. Financial inclusion is measured using the number of bank branch offices, the ratio of credit savings to GRDP, and third-party funds. Meanwhile, economic growth is described by the logarithmic variable of the difference in GRDP per capita. Secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) are used in this study. According to the statistical panel regression estimation results, the savings ratio per GRDP and third-party funds significantly positively affect inclusive economic growth. In contrast, the number of bank branch offices has no significant effect on inclusive economic growth.

80% of the population of Situbondo Regency Coastal Village work as fishermen. Fluctuating fishing results cause businesses to be processed so that they can be stored to fill the void of fishing results and improve the community's economy. The independent variable is the amount of money circulated by Bank Indonesia, and the independent variables used are the value of debit / ATM card transactions, credit cards, and e -money. The results indicate that in the long run credit cards have a significant negative effect on cash circulation in the community, while debit cards have a significant positive effect and affect cash. While in the short term, credit cards and e-money are not significant for cash, and only debit cards only have a significant effect on cash.

Abstract

The Garbage Bank is a strategy for implementing the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3R) principles in waste management in society. Airlangga University through the community program held a Garbage Bank activity located in RT 20 Tanah Kali Kedinding Village. This activity was attended by ten participants from housewives in the area. Since 2020, the Garbage Bank in this area has been carried out, however it still needs a follow-up community service programs so that the Garbage Bank becomes more representative and productive. The Surabaya City Government's policy that prohibits the use of plastic bags in shops/malls provides an opportunity for the Kali Kedinding Land Waste Bank Manager to process inorganic waste into useful and economically valuable items such as shopping bags. In this regard, housewives as waste bank managers also have a strong will to manage inorganic waste. However, there are several problems related to the development of expertise in making shopping bags from inorganic household waste. Not all housewives have a good understanding of using inorganic waste and processing it into shopping bags that have a sale value. Based on these problems, this community service program is directed at providing training on sewing bags from inorganic household waste, training on selling products online through marketplaces, training on business financial management, and training on business organizational governance. The training was conducted in four meetings with a different topic each week. It is hoped that this program can increase awarness about waste management and improve the community's economy.  This is in accordance with the indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely increasing economic growth, productive employment opportunities, and decent work for the community, and focusing on the efficient use of resources, minimizing waste, and increasing the production of recycled waste in the environment.

Abstract

The paper attempts to explore the problems and roots of poverty, the poverty alleviation progress, programs and policies between selected Moslem populated-countries in Asia and selected non-Moslem populated-countries in Latin America. By conducting comparative analysis on statistical data, literature surveys, several journals, official reports and reliable research findings, all sources have been examined to construct comprehensive findings in the present article. Three important aspects are concluded. Firstly, by definition, a person who earns below 2,00 USD per day is considered “poor” according to the World Bank, and they are mostly living in rural areas and suburban slums. Second, poverty alleviation efforts in both particular groups of countries have resulted in a better outcome, whereby the number of poor decreased gradually according to statistical data reported by the World Bank. Other economic indicators such as GNI per capita and income inequality graphic have shown better patterns. Third, there have been different strategic policies and programs implemented between the two groups of countries. Islamic economic notions such as zakah, infaq, and sadaqah play a very significant role in Moslem populated countries, on the other hand, non Moslem populated countries tend to create more radical and creative strategies such as agendas of land reform and tourism industry development. Abstract

Digitalization in microfinance institutions, including Sharia-compliant ones such as Baitul Maal wa Tamwil (BMT), is considered crucial for several reasons, including operational efficiency, increased financial inclusion, and rising demand in the evolving financial ecosystem. As a crucial tool for alleviating poverty and empowering marginalized communities, the integration of digital technology has become a necessity, not an option. This research examines the factors that influence millennials’ use of digital financial technology developed by BMT. This study employed the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) processed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) in SmartPLS with 108 respondents. The sample consisted of millennial- generation Islamic digital BMT users in Indonesia who have at least one experience using it. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling, and data collection was carried out for one month. The results indicated that all hypotheses were accepted. Ease of use significantly affected users' attitudes, as did the usefulness for behavior. This finding implies that if a digital BMT platform is easier to use, it will lead to more positive attitudes among its users. , the more useful a digital BMT platform is, the more positively its users will behave and the more likely they will be to use it in the future.
