Abstract

The number of farmers that continues to decline is one of the problems that occur in the agricultural sector. The interest to become a farmer or business actor in agriculture, especially for the younger generation also tends to decline. They perceive that it is more tiring to work in the agricultural sector because they work outdoors. By administering a survey to 63 members of Komunitas Petani Muda Indonesia, this research aimed to determine the opinions of the younger generation about organic farming and their impact on entrepreneurial goals. The technique of collecting samples employs probability sampling, descriptive analysis, and SEM-PLS. The results show that the knowledge and positive views about organic farming affect the interest in entrepreneurship, However, their interest in organic farming tends to be low. Several factors contribute to this, including the fact that many individuals who do not understand organic products equate the price of organic products with conventional agricultural products and the difficulty of marketing organic products. The conclusion is that perception influences the desire of young people to become entrepreneurs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors affecting Indonesia's frozen tuna exports. The data used in this study is panel data from 2005 to 2020 to export destination countries, such as Thailand, Japan, China and Vietnam. The method used in this research is panel data regression with a gravity model approach. According to the gravity model analisys the variables that have a positive and significant effect are importer population, exchange rate, coverage ratio SPS and TBT, while export price have a negative and significant effect. Otherwise, the variables that have no significant effect was GDPpercapita importer, economic distance and dummy variable impor tariffs. Based on these results, Indonesia needs to focus on increasing frozen tuna export to Thailand, China, Jepang and Vietnam because it will provide great benefits for Indonesia because Indonesia has been able to meet the criteria of standard and regulations imposed by importing countries, besides frozen tuna has high demand, highly export price and than exchange rate is also high in these countries. Furthermore the government always colaborate with producers (exporter) in producing frozen tuna to maintaining the quality of frozen tuna to be maintaned and exsist in export destination countries.

Abstract

The palm oil industry downstream program supports the development of new energy made from palm oil, namely biodiesel. Biodiesel is used as a blend for fuels such as diesel. One of the goals of developing the biodiesel industry is to produce new renewable energy sources so that it can reduce dependence on fossil energy and to increase value added of palm oil. With the development of the biodiesel industry, Indonesia's consumption of crude palm oil (CPO) will increase. It is feared that this could lead to an increase in domestic CPO prices. This research was conducted to analyze the impact of developing the biodiesel industry on domestic CPO prices. The data used is secondary data in the form of annual data from 1997-2021. The research analysis used multiple linear regression which is processed with Ordinary Least Square (OLS). The independent variables in this research are international CPO prices, CPO export volumes, fresh fruit bunches (FFB) price and volume of biodiesel production. The real domestic CPO price was significantly affected by international CPO prices, CPO export volume, and FFB prices. Volume of biodiesel production has no significant impact on domestic CPO price.

Abstract

The Ukraine-Soviet Union war and the Covid-19 pandemic made the world economy experience complex problems. Indonesia was also affected, especially the decline in exports, so it needed to find new trading partners. This study aims to determine the potential diversification of Indonesia's export market to non-traditional countries, namely Turkey, Brazil, Georgia and the Russian Federation as well as 10 economic commodities. The data used in this study is secondary data. This data is obtained through the GTAP database (Global Trade Analysis Project) version 10. In this GTAP database there are input - output data from 121 countries representing 98% of world GDP. The results of this study are Brazil and Turkey can become Indonesia's trading partners, while Georgia and the Russian Federation have little opportunity to establish trade cooperation with Indonesia

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) launched by the United Nations (UN) pay special attention to gender issues in sustainable development, in SDG number 5 (five), namely gender equality. Therefore, the implementation of gender roles in sustainable development in Indonesia, especially in agribusiness development, is expected to reduce the level of gender inequality and empower all women. However, it was found that in some areas, women are limited in farming activities. Women are only involved in activities that require minimal resources, while their access to these resources and opportunities to participate in decision-making remain limited. This study aims to analyse the role of women in maize farming in Tanah Laut District in terms of three main aspects: role and participation, access to resources, and power in decision-making. The data used were primary and secondary data. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative and quantitative analyses using the Gender Dimensions Framework (GDF) approach. Quantitative analysis was conducted to test the significance of gender roles in maize farming using the independent T-test and Mann-Whitney test. The results show that women farmers can participate in all maize productive activities. The level of women's participation tends to be high in the activities of seeding, planting and harvesting. Women do not dominate any of the resources in the access and control profiles. However, based on farm management, in general, female farmers are not much different in terms of average planting area, number of harvests, productivity and price received compared to male farmers. Women and men have equal power in decision-making.

Abstract

Meeting the food needs of the Indonesian population is a top priority, and national strategic food plays a vital role in achieving this goal. However, the unstable nature of national strategic food prices can have significant implications, particularly for those with low incomes. This volatility can hinder access to healthy and nutritious food, ultimately impacting the nation's food security. In recent times, food prices have risen sharply, which is expected to have far-reaching consequences. Therefore, it is imperative to analyze the volatility of national strategic food prices to comprehend price fluctuations and patterns. This study analyzed the volatility of national strategic food prices in Indonesia from 2018 to 2022, focusing on commodities such as shallots, garlic, red chilies, cooking oil, and rice. The ARCH-GARCH method used to conduct the analysis, revealing that all five commodity prices were volatile at the national level. The red chili and shallot exhibits a distinctive pattern, characterized by an increase volatility during the second quarter of each year. This can be attributed to the rise in demand during the Ramadan. Conversely, garlic volatility was high in early 2019 and 2020, while remaining relatively stable during other periods. Cooking oil volatility remained stable until the end of 2020, but started to increase in early 2021. This closely related to cooking oil crisis that occurred in Indonesia. Lastly, rice price volatility was high in early 2018. Subsequently, exhibited relatively stable volatility until first quarter of 2022, although there were some periods where the volatility exceeded its average.
