Abstract

Gastritis is a condition in which the lining of the stomach, or inflamed gastric mucosa. The lining of the stomach contains parietal cells which produce acids, enzymes, and mucus. Acids and enzymes break down food and aid digestion and mucus protects the mucosa from being damaged by stomach acid. Characteristics of gastric inflammation include anorexia, a feeling of fullness or discomfort in the epigastrium, nausea, and vomiting. This study aims to determine the relationship between diet and gastritis incidence in students at the Faculty of Medicine, Baiturrahmah University class of 2019. This study used an observational analytical method with a cross sectional design using primary data with a total sample of 115 respondents. Univariate data analysis is presented in the form of frequency distribution and bivariate analysis using chi-square test. Based on the results of this study, 75 (65,2%) had positive gastritis, and as many as 59 (51,3%) had a poor diet. The results of statitical tests showed taht there was a relationship of diet ti incidence of gastritis (p=0,003). This study has a meaningful relationship between diet and gastritis in students at the Faculty of Medicine, Baiturrahmah University class of 2019.

Abstract

The use of cotton buds to clean ears is still widely done by the community without knowing the effects of using cotton buds. Cotton buds can cause otitis externa, cerumen prop and even perforation of the tympanic membrane. The purpose of community service is to provide education about the impact of using cotton buds to clean ears, as well as to create SOPs for cerumen props and ear hygiene. This community service consists of three steps, namely problem discovery, education on the impact of using cotton buds and creating SOPs for cotton buds and ear hygiene. The results of community service activities are in the form of problem discovery, increased knowledge and SOPs.The results of community service are that the community still does not know the correct way to clean ears, increased knowledge after providing education, as well as SOPs for cerumen props and ear hygiene. The conclusion of community service activities is increasing knowledge through education for health workers at the Taluak Tigo Sakato health center, SOPs for cerumen props, and SOPs for ear hygiene are expected to improve ear hygiene problems in the community.

Abstract

Eco-enzyme is a fermented product made from organic materials such as fruit and vegetable waste, brown sugar, and water. It is known to break down organic materials and effectively reduce pollutants. This community service activity aims to restore river water quality after flooding and enable water reuse for domestic use using eco enzymes. This program was implemented by involving local communities in the production process and application of eco-enzymes in Kenagarian Taluak Tigo Sakato, Batang Kapas, Pesisir Selatan, where flooding often occurs. Efforts included counselling and practical training on the benefits and methods of making eco-enzymes and the application of eco-enzymes to the use of water for household purposes by residents. Water quality was evaluated by measuring parameters such as pH, turbidity, organic matter content, and the presence of pathogenic microorganisms before and after the application of eco-enzyme. The results showed that the quality of river water used for domestic purposes improved significantly, with lower organic matter content and turbidity, and a decrease in the number of pathogenic microorganisms. This measure improved the river water quality and enabled the community to protect the environment and deal with post-flooding problems independently and sustainably.

M. Djamil Padang in 2017 – 2019 with 112 samples using total sampling technique. The research data were analyzed using the univariate test and presented in the form of frequency and percentage distribution tables. Results: Characteristics of acute appendicitis patients at RSUP DR. M. Djamil Padang, based on age, acute appendicitis mostly occurred in the late adolescent age group (17 – 25 years). Characteristics based on sex, acute appendicitis mostly occured in males – 64 people (57.1%).
