Abstract

Chiropractic is a therapeutic method focusing on spinal manipulation to restore body balance, alleviate chronic pain, and improve posture. This approach is increasingly relevant in the modern era, characterized by sedentary lifestyles often leading to musculoskeletal problems. This article aims to review the current literature on the effectiveness of chiropractic care in managing pain and improving posture as part of a holistic healthcare approach. This study employs a systematic literature review method, analyzing 30 articles published between 2018 and 2024 from databases such as PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The selected articles include clinical studies, reviews, and meta-analyses relevant to chiropractic care. The review results indicate that chiropractic care reduces lower back pain by up to 70% in patients with herniated discs. Furthermore, 85% of patients reported improved posture following chiropractic therapy over six months. Studies also noted that patients who combined chiropractic care with regular exercise experienced significant improvements in mobility and quality of life compared to those who only received chiropractic therapy. The analysis highlights that the benefits of chiropractic care extend beyond physical improvement, encompassing psychological aspects such as stress reduction due to chronic pain alleviation. Within a holistic approach, chiropractic contributes to overall body balance and promotes natural healing without invasive interventions. The discussion emphasizes the importance of integrating chiropractic care into modern healthcare systems, particularly as a preventive approach to address global health challenges stemming from sedentary lifestyles. Chiropractic care is an effective therapy for managing chronic pain and improving posture within a holistic healthcare context. This method not only offers physical benefits but also supports mental well-being, making it a promising non-invasive solution to enhance overall quality of life. Further research is necessary to explore the potential applications of chiropractic care in addressing other health conditions.

Abstract

Background: Presbycusis is a sensorineural hearing disorder that causes loss of hearing ability in old age. Dyslipidemia is a risk factor for presbycusis, namely an imbalance in lipids such as cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides and HDL. Excessive triglyceride levels will increase the risk of atherosclerosis. The formation of atherosclerotic plaque will result in thickening of the blood vessel walls and narrowing of the lumen, resulting in obstruction of blood flow and reducing oxygen transport which can cause ischemia in the cochlea and disrupt hearing function. Objective: Determine the relationship between increased triglyceride levels and presbycusis in elderly patients with dyslipidemia at RSI Siti Rahmah. Method: This type of research is analytical observational research using a case control design and the type of data used is primary and secondary data using consecutive sampling techniques. Results: Presbycusis was most commonly found in the 60-69 year age group (58,33%), presbycusis was mostly found in dyslipidemia elderly with increased triglyceride levels (75.0%), and the highest grouping of triglyceride levels was found in the high group (41,67%). There is a significant relationship between triglyceride levels in elderly patients with dyslipidemia and the incidence of presbycusis (P-value 0.001) and the OR calculation shows that elderly people with dyslipidemia with increased triglyceride levels are 6 times more at risk of experiencing presbycusis compared to elderly people without dyslipidemia. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between increasing triglyceride levels and presbycusis in elderly with dyslipidemia at RSI Siti Rahmah

Abstract

Eco-enzyme is a fermented product made from organic materials such as fruit and vegetable waste, brown sugar, and water. It is known to break down organic materials and effectively reduce pollutants. This community service activity aims to restore river water quality after flooding and enable water reuse for domestic use using eco enzymes. This program was implemented by involving local communities in the production process and application of eco-enzymes in Kenagarian Taluak Tigo Sakato, Batang Kapas, Pesisir Selatan, where flooding often occurs. Efforts included counselling and practical training on the benefits and methods of making eco-enzymes and the application of eco-enzymes to the use of water for household purposes by residents. Water quality was evaluated by measuring parameters such as pH, turbidity, organic matter content, and the presence of pathogenic microorganisms before and after the application of eco-enzyme. The results showed that the quality of river water used for domestic purposes improved significantly, with lower organic matter content and turbidity, and a decrease in the number of pathogenic microorganisms. This measure improved the river water quality and enabled the community to protect the environment and deal with post-flooding problems independently and sustainably.

Abstract

Depression is a serious mental health issue worldwide, a condition that can significantly affect a person's quality of life. Aromatherapy has emerged as a complementary therapy with the potential to alleviate symptoms of depression, offering a lower risk of side effects compared to conventional pharmacological treatments. This narrative review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of aromatherapy in reducing symptoms of depression, with a focus on the mechanisms of action of essential oils used in this therapy. A literature search was conducted using PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases from the year 2000 to 2023. Included articles consisted of randomized controlled trials (RCTs), systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. Essential oils such as lavender, bergamot, lemon, rose, and patchouli have been shown to be effective in reducing depressive symptoms. Their effectiveness is associated with increased levels of serotonin and dopamine, as well as suppression of hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis activity. Methods of administration, such as inhalation, massage, and diffuser use, produce varying outcomes depending on the characteristics of the studied population. Conclusion: Aromatherapy has potential as an effective complementary therapy for depression. Further research is needed to strengthen the evidence of its effectiveness across diverse populations and intervention durations.

Abstract

Headset usage has become increasingly common today, facilitating work and communication. However, prolonged use of headsets, especially at high sound frequencies, can damage the hair cells in the cochlea, leading to permanent hearing loss. This condition is known as Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL). This research employed a literature review of journals published between 2013 and 2025. The journals were searched using keywords such as "headphone hearing loss," "noise-induced hearing loss personal listening devices," "safe listening guidelines," and "hearing impairment headset." The search results were presented narratively. The study found that NIHL is prevalent across all continents and is closely associated with headset usage. Specifically, using headsets at high volumes and for extended periods can lead to NIHL. This issue is particularly significant among Generation Z, with various studies indicating instances of hearing loss. The study concluded that there is a direct relationship between hearing loss and headset use at sound levels exceeding 85 dB for more than 8 hours a day.
