Abstract

Container loading and unloading activities are categorized high risk, because the equipment used is a lifting plane for heavy lifting. Based on the results of observations, a work accident caused due to unsafe actions. According to ILCI theory, unsafe actions are caused by management factors (availability of machine maintenance procedures) and individual factors (age, education, employment and knowledge) of workers. The design of this research was cross-sectional. The samples of this study were 35 workers from the total population of 43 mechanical workers of lifting aircraft. The samples were taken from mechanics included in the inclusion criteria of HMC mechanical workers (Harbour Mobile Crane). The data were obtained through observation and filling questionnaires to workers. Data were analyzed statistically by using spearman test. The statistic test results showed that there was no relationship between age with unsafe actions is 0.217, and for knowledge with unsafe action there was a relationship is 0.000. There was a relationship between the working period and the unsafe actions is 0.002. There was an relationship between the availability of the machine maintenance procedure and the unsafe actions is 0.019. With α <0.05. The conclusion is that not all individual factors were associated with unsafe actions, but the availability of machine maintenance procedures were associated with them. The program from the management to the safety and health of the worker should be reviewed periodically to enable workers to work safely and reduce occupational accidents. Keywords: loading and unloading containers, mechanics, unsafe actions

Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction: Ear protection equipment is indispensable for workers exposed to noise exceeding the threshold value. Introduction: Many studies have shown that the level of labor compliance with the use of ear protection equipment is influenced by the length of work and age of the workers concerned. However, many studies also show different conditions with the results of these studies. For this reason, this study was conducted to determine how the influence of the work period and age of workers on the compliance with the use of ear protection equipment at PT X animal feed industry. Methods: The method used was observational with a cross-sectional approach. The number of population selected from animal feed production workers was 30 workers. The sample was obtained using a simple random sampling calculation of 28 workers. The analysis was done using contingency coefficient statistical tests. Results: The number of workers in the study area whose tenure <12 years is 50% and whose age <37 years is was also 50%. By using the contingency coefficient, it is known that there are 39.3% and 35.7% of 64.3% of workers who were not compliant with the useof ear protection equipment, each having a work period of <12 years and age <37 years respectively. It is also known that work period and age of workers have a Sig (0.115)> α (0.05) and Sig (0.430)> α (0.05) accordingly, which means there is no relationship between work period and the age of the workers with the compliance with the use of ear protection equipment. Conclusion: The reasons of the non-compliance of workers with the use of ear protection equipment are they feel uncomfortable, they have a lack of supervision, as well as they have a lack of motivation work.age, animal feed, compliance, ear protection equipment, years of service

Abstract

Noise risks in the work area of the pharmaceutical industry in Pasuruan can have a negative impact on workers' health. The purpose of this study was to measure noise levels, evaluate health risks, and assess the effectiveness of noise control programs. The method used was descriptive analytic with a cross-sectional design, noise measurements were made using a sound level meter to obtain continuous sound pressure levels (Leq). Data were also analyzed using a risk matrix and field observations to identify noise sources. The results showed that the highest noise level in the work area reached 90 dBA, with the main sources coming from the generator and chiller engines, while most of the work area had a relatively low noise risk. Nevertheless, there are several points that exceed the established noise threshold. This study recommends the implementation of technical and administrative controls, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper work scheduling, to reduce noise exposure. Periodic monitoring is also recommended to ensure the effectiveness of the applied controls, so as to create a safer working environment for workers.
