Abstract

Gender inequity and inequality in the community would restrict developmentprocess. Therefore, struggle toward gender equity and equality is become interestingglobal issue for the world and also Indonesia and Bali.The aims of this study is 1) to analyze knowledge, perception, and attitude ofBalinese community toward gender concept and gender equity and equality, and 2) toknow implementation of gender role in the family and community. This study is carriedout in the three regencies/city in Bali, i.e. Buleleng, Tabanan and Denpasar. In eachregency/city, two types of village is determined that are urban and rural. Data arecollected by implementing structured interview based on questionnaire which is asked to120 respondents and completed with in-depth interview based on interview guidance tosome key respondents.The finding shows that most of respondent (68.30 %) have not known genderconcept, means that only 21.70 percent stated that they already known it, and they havedifferent understanding both about gender term and gender equity and equality. Withregard to gender equity and equality, only 24.20 percent of respondent report that theyhave read and heard about this term. However, when it is related to gender equity andequality program, most of them (91.60 %) of respondent stated that they agree with sucha program. In addition, it is also found that in the reality, almost all respondent actuallyhave implemented job sharing between man and women flexibly, means that they swapthe role of each other depend on situation and condition. This reality reflects that there isa shifting of thinking pattern of the community from rigid toward flexible division of job.Based on the findings, it can be concluded that although only small number ofcommunity member have known and understand gender concept and gender equity andequality, actually they have implemented it in their daily life. In general, communitymember also agree for changing their attitude toward gender role, so the condition ofgender equity and equality can be achieved.

Abstract

Traditional technology is one of cultural advancement objects that can be found in Loloan stilt houses which are undergoing transformation and decline in quantity. This paper aims to know shape and determinants of stilt houses transformation in East Loloan, as well as to reveal the implications in terms of cultural advancement program. The study applied qualitative methods which were analyzed interpretive descriptive. The results showed that the stilt house consist two forms and has three levels based on the cosmological community. Transformation of houses on stilts, namely addition of space and changes in function of underside caused by determinants: social change, cultural dynamic, transition livelihoods, technology development, activity change, family members structure, build condition, land area, and interest of homeowner. The implication is that most of the aspects of the cultural advancement program have been fulfilled, except for the coaching aspect which has not been touched by community or government.

Abstract

Penti is a customary rite, the ancestral heritage of the Ndehes, Manggarai, as a medium of gratitude to God for the crops gained during the year and also known as the New Year celebration for the Ndehes, Manggarai people. Penti is also an attempt to reconcile the relationship between man and his neighbor (relative), man with nature, and man with God. The problem studied is to know how the process of ritual pent in the villagers of Ndehes, Manggarai, Flores, NTT and the functions and meanings contained in the ritual penti for the villagers of Ndehes, Manggarai, Flores, NTT. The purpose of this research is to know the background of ritual pent, pent ritual process, and the function and meaning of ritual penti for the people of Ndehes Village, Manggarai Regency, Flores, NTT. Researchers use qualitative methods, as well as data collection techniques with participant observation techniques, in-depth interviews and literature studies. Informants are determined based on the background and knowledge of the informant so that it can assist in the research process about the pent ritual. The theory of functionality proposed by Branislaw Malinowski became the foundation used for this study coupled with religious concepts from other scholars such as Emile Durkheim and Koentjaraningrat. The pent ritual is able to regulate the customary and religious life of the people of Ndehes. Ritual penti has the function and meaning contained in each series of its show process, both latent function and manifest function, and the meaning - meaning in ritual penti which become basis of social life of Ndehes Village community.

Abstract

Bunutin village is one of the Bali Aga villages located in Kintamani, Bali which still maintaind traditional ceremony. One of the traditional ceremonies still preserved by the Bunutin community is the Neduhin ceremony. Neduhin ceremony is a routine ritual performed by the people of Bunutin Village once every year. The aims of this research are to know: (1) Why Neduhin Ritual is implemented by the Community in Bunutin Village (2) How is the Implementation Stage of Neduhin Ritual (3) How to Function and Meaning of Neduhin ceremony in Agricultural System of Bunutin Village Community. The theory used in this research is the theory of B. Malinowski on the function of culture, the theory of E. B Tylor about religion, as well as the manifest and latent theory by Robert K. Merton. The concepts used in this research are Neduhin ceremony, Agricultural System, and Bunutin Village Community. The results revealed that the reason for the implementation of the Neduhin ceremony by the community of Bunutin Village was the ritual of apologizing to Ida Betara for causing him to be angry, so that the village of Bunutin experienced catastrophes such as crop failure in their fields. The Neduhin ceremony procession consists of three stages: The phase I (preparation of neduhin) consists of the Neratas and the Ngusaba Toya ritual. The phase II (ritual stage of neduhin) consists of the mendak tirtha by teruna, nuwur Ida Betara Kawitan, nuwur Iratu ring Pura Panti, nuwur Iratu Ida Betara Mulu Mideh, and megibung tradition by krama desa. Ritual phase III (ritual performed after neduhin) is a procession of Ngodog lidi tradition. In Neduhin ceremony there are latent and manifest functions. In addition, as for the meaning contained in the Neduhin is a religion, an education, and a welfare.

Abstract

Doka Nikisi’e is a village located in Ngada district which adheres to the matrilineal kinship system. However, even though women holding rights in traditional houses, men also have important roles in the kinship system in the village of Nikisi'e. Therefore, to avoid discrepancy and insurgency, it’s necessary to have a good gender relation in both case. For DokaNikisi’e people, even though the matrilineal kinship system greatly glorifies women, they still consider that this’s not to give women an absolute power, but solely for the sake of harmony between both side.The matrilineal kinship system in DokaNikisi'e can be studied by applyingRatnaMegawangi’s nurture and nature theory, called role theory. Robert Linton. While the concepts used as a reference in this study are concept of gender, kinship system concept and matrilineal concept. This research is a qualitative research which is obtained by ethnographic research models. Data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interviews, literature studies, and data analysis that is useful for processing objects in the research location.The results of this research shows that there is a process in the matrilineal kinship system inDokaNikisi’e village which explains the stages of the matrilineal kinship is formed through the marriage system. And in this process explained the classification of roles between men and women and allotment of inheritance in traditional houses.Besides explaining the process, this research also explains the significations contained in the matrilineal kinship system in DokaNikisi’e village.

Abstract

Tambakan people are able to maintain their ecological balance through local wisdom is reflected in the annual ritual behavior called Mungkah Wali. The purpose of this study is to know: (a) Why Tambakan people perform a ritual called Mungkah Wali , (b) How is the Mungkah Wali ritual process implemented and (c) What is the meaning of Mungkah Wali ritual for Tambakan society? This research uses ethnographic research method which is included in qualitative research with data collection technique through participant observation, interview, and literature study. This research using Functional Structural theory in reviewing structure and function of Mungkah Wali ritual to understand and analyze the research data, and uses Semiologi theory to study the myth contained in the ritual. Based on the analysis, this study found three factors behind the implementation of Mungkah Wali ritual that are (a) as the worship of God; (b) carrying out mythical rituals; (c) relate to the history of the establishment of Tambak Village. The function of the Mungkah Wali ritual is for offering to obtain the grace in the form of safety, welfare, and prosperity for Tambakan Village. The meaning of the Mungkah Wali ritual is: (a) having an unifying or solidarity function among the community; (b) having a preservation function for forest area in Tambakan Village; (c) has a function in maintaining water availability in Desa Tambakan; (d) has a function of preserving the cow population; (e) has an economic function for the community of Desa Tambakan

Abstract

Berbagai upaya telah dilakukan untuk menanggulangi masalah kekerasan dalam rumah tangga (KDRT). Tetapi kenyataannya kasus KDRT masih tetap tinggi. Di Bali sepanjang tahun 2017 saja ditemukan 142 kasus dan 90 persennya adalah kasus KDRT. Sedangkan di Kabupaten Badung, dalam periode Januari hingga Juni tahun 2017 saja tercatat 14 kasus KDRT yang dilaporkan. Sementara pada tahun lalu (2018) ada 25 kasus yang dilaporkan (http://www.balipost.com/news/2017/07/31/16588/Di-Badung,Belasan-Kasus-KDRT...html). Penelitian ini bertujuan: 1) mengetahui bentuk-bentuk kekerasan dalam keluarga (KDRT) yang ada di Kabupaten Badung, 2) mengetahui hal-hal yang melatari terjadinya tindak kekerasan dalam keluarga (KDRT) yang ada di Kabupaten Badung, dan 3) mengetahui strategi penanggulangan kekerasan dalam keluarga (KDRT) yang ada di Kabupaten Badung. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui teknik pengumpulan data dengan observasi dan wawancara. Analaisis data menggunakan análisis diskriptif interpretatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kekerasan dalam Rumah Tangga dapat dilihat dari berbagai bentuk kekerasan yang mencakup: kekerasan fisik, kekerasan psikologis, kekerasan seksual dan kekerasan ekonomi. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya kekerasan meliputi: ketidakmandirian ekonomi dari istri yang tidak bekerja dan kemandirian ekonomi istri dari istri yang bekerja, perselingkuhan, pemahaman yang salah terhadap mitos dan ajaran agama tentang perempuan, dan suami yang temperamental. Upaya perlindungan dan penanggulangan terhadap tindak kekerasan dapat bersifat: represif (penindakan) adalah dengan hukum pidana melalui peradilan maupun di luar hukum pidana, seperti: memfasilitasi upaya damai bagi korban dan pelaku, memberikan pendampingan pada korban dalam penyelesaian perkara, membantu memberikan tempat yang aman bagi korban yang merasa terancam, membantu mengembalikan rasa percaya diri pada korban, melakukan upaya pembebasan dari kasus kekerasan yang dialami korban, melakukan perlindungan dari ancaman yang diterima korban. Secara preventif dapat dilakukan melalui bentuk-bentuk: sosialisasi, penyebaran brosur, pemasangan billboard.

Abstract

Art is the one of the culture in bali that really fast to grow. In this globalisation, modern art has many teenagers liker than old culture. It's really difficult to find some of them who like the old culture. One of the example of the culture that doesn't have many likers among the teenagers is gong kebyar. In this experimental, writers will explain about the interesting of some teenagers about the old culture, gong kebyar. Such as : 1. Why the girls are interested to join the sekaa gong Dharma Laksana ? 2.what the personal impact of joining sekaa gong Dharma Laksana ? 3.what the people think of the girls that do the old culture (gong kebyar) in the sekaa Dharma Laksana? The theory that writer use in this experimental is three social motif From David Mc.Clelland and the Feminims Posmodern theory from Linda Nicholson.the main concept in this experimental is about the girls that still doing the old culture in this globalism. Writers use the cualitative methods.

Abstract

This study uses a qualitative method. The collection technique used is using observation, interviews, and literature study. The research problems were analyzed using Structural-Functional Theory and Psychoanalytic Theory. The findings in this study are divided into two parts. First, the parenting pattern, the process of implementing the parenting style, the single parent Father takes care and educates the child by instilling values and norms, applying discipline, giving appreciation, providing religious education, meeting the physical needs of the child. In the process of parenting, there are obstacles and expectations of parents towards their children. Second, discussing the psychological implications for children, which can be seen in terms of children's moral behavior, children's personality and socialization, as well as children's play activities.

Abstract

Talking about marriage is quite broad, let alone explaining the term marriage itself, marriage itself is closely related to culture and religion, as in the marriage system of the Manggarai Tribe. Marriage of the Furnace, Marriage of the Furnace, is a marriage between the children of brothers and sisters which is the subject of local religious debate. This paper aims to find out: a) why the marriage of the stove in the Ruteng Pu'u community still exists b) the implications of the marriage of the stove with the legitimacy of the church and state in the lives of the people in the village of Ruteng Pu'u, Central Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. The support of Robert K Merton's theory of qualitative research methods which include observation, interviews, literature studies, analysis of research results shows that furnace mating is still carried out by the younger generation, but was not selected in the past because there were many conflicts with local religions.
