Abstract

Cases of violence against women in Indonesia continue to be in the spotlight, where there is an increase in cases from the previous year (Year 2020). In 2021, cases of violence against women emerged, namely cases of rape committed on 13 female students. Abortion is often an option as a way of suppressing the psychological trauma experienced by rape victims. The purpose of this study is to provide a review of the act of abortion due to rape in terms of Islamic views and medical bioethics as well as to provide an overview of the legal policy of abortion due to rape in a country that already has a legal abortion system due to rape, as well as to provide an overview of the impact of the policies that have been carried out. The type of research used is juridical empirical by collecting and analyzing, and focusing on Islamic views, bioethical rules, and applicable legal norms. The results of this study indicate that from a study of the Islamic religion, abortion due to rape is permitted before 40 days of gestation and is approved by the authorized team. Meanwhile, from the study of medical bioethics, it can be seen from medical indications in this case pregnancy due to rape which can cause mental health disorders by applying the principles of beneficence and non-maleficence, respect for human dignity and human right, respect for autonomy, and respect for confidentiality and privacy. . The act of abortion due to rape legally in Indonesia and several countries has been widely regulated, but in its implementation it is still a challenge in providing access to information and providing adequate health services.

Abstract

Background and purpose: There is a great deal of mythical erroneous information regarding children's nutrition that can affect styles of parental feeding. If it is left uncontrolled, it may influence the nutritional status that led to malnutrition. The purpose of this study is to determine association between styles of parental feeding and nutritional status of children ages of 2 to 5 years old.  Methods: This was a cross-sectional study, conducted in November-December 2023 in Jember, East Java, Indonesia. Samples were 244 mothers who were selected purposively and satisfied the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data was collected with interview which include parents’ and children’s characteristics, the feeding practices using a validated structured questionnaire (FPSQ-28), and children nutritional status. Descriptive analysis followed by correlation analysis were performed. Results: Most parents earn more than IDR 2,000,000 and work as self-employed, whereas more than half of the respondents, both fathers and mothers, had at least a high school education, and the majority of height in both were 150-170 cm with normal body mass index. There is a weak positive association between the styles of parental feeding with the body weight for age (r=0.183; p=0.040) while no significant association with body weight for height (r=0.08; p=0.216). Conclusion: Styles of parental feeding affected children's feeding and nutritional status, particularly when it comes to chronic conditions and in order to maintain children's nutrition or balanced nutrition, it is necessary to conduct education and evaluation of parental feeding styles.

Abstract

Stunting is an indicator of chronic nutritional disorders and is still a complex public health problem. One of the direct risk factors for stunting is Low Birth Weight (LBW). This study is an analytical observational study that aims to determine the correlation between the history of Low Birth Weight (LBW) and the incidence of stunting in toddlers. The research was carried out in Balet Baru Village, Sukowono District, Jember Regency. The population in this study were all children aged 6 months to 5 years who are recorded in the Maternal and Child Health (KIA) register in Balet Baru Village. The total number of research subjects was 168 toddlers in a case-control design. Bivariate analysis is used to determine the relationship between LBW history and stunting incidence using the Chi-Square test. The results of the analysis showed a p-value of 0.002 (p < 0.05), which means that there is a statistically significant correlation between the history of LBW and the incidence of stunting in children aged 6 months to 5 years. An odds ratio (OR) value of 4.640 shows that children with a history of LBW have a 4.64 times greater risk of stunting than children without a history of LBW.

Abstract

Abstract Introduction: Ischemic stroke is one of the highest causes of morbidity and mortality. One of the factors that triggers ischemic stroke which is quite rare is a bee sting. Pathomechanism of this condition remain unclear. This case report will describe a rare complication of bee sting and discuss it from a pathomechanism perspective. Case Report: A 40-year old woman came to the emergency room at Dr. Koesnadi Bondowoso with the main complaint of weakness in the right face. Referral patients from community health centers. The patient's complaint occurred 7,5 hours ago after being stung by a bee on the middle finger of his left hand. Physical examination showed facial angioedema, edema of digiti manus III sinsitra, and others normal. On neurological examination, it was found: Parasis Nervus XII and VII sinistra UMN type and hemiparasis sinistra. Laboratory examination showed increased neutrophils (90.4%) and eosinophilia (0.1%). A non-contrast CT scan examination showed a hypodense lesion in the right hemisphere. The patient was given antiplatelet, antihistamin, and neuroprotectan. Discussion: One of the rare complications of bee stings is ishemic stroke. This occurs due to the toxin from bee stings which contain vasoactive, pro-inflammatory agents, thrombogenic peptides, thromboxane A2, and leukotrienes which trigger platelet aggregation and vasoconstriction. This condition can trigger trombus formation and lead to ischemic stroke. Medical personnel, especially neurologists, must be aware of pathomechanism from the quite rare complications of ischemic stroke induced by bee stings, especially in rural areas Keywords: Ischemic Stroke, Bee sting, rural area.

Abstract

Status lokalis auricula sinistra terdapat pus berwarna kuning jernih disertai nyeri tarik tragus.  Pemeriksaan neurologis menunjukkan GCS 335, tanda meningeal (+), VAS 8-9. Pemeriksaan laboratorium awal menunjukkan Leukosit 21.610 sel/uL; Monosit 2.060 sel/uL; neutrofil 17.390 sel/uL, gula darah acak 193 mg/dL, HIV (-), dan DNA MTB (-).
