Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengidentifikasi tentang bagaimana pakan yang mengandung bekatul dapat mempengaruhi penampilan produksi ayam petelur. Kandungan serat kasar bekatul sangat tinggi dan bekatul mengandung asam fitat yang merupakan anti nutrisi, sehingga bekatul memiliki batas penggunaan pada level tertentu dalam pakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 100 ekor ayam petelur betina umur 30 minggu dan bahan pakan perlakuan. Metode yang digunakan adalah percobaan lapang dengan menggunakan empat perlakuan pakan dan masing-masing perlakuan diulang sebanyak 5 kali. Variabel dalam penelitian ini adalah konsumsi pakan, berat telur, hen day production, egg mass, konversi pakan, dan Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC). Metode analisis statistik yang digunakan untuk mengolah data hasil penelitian Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) menggunakan analisis ragam dan uji jarak berganda Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan bekatul berbagai level dalam pakan tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap konsumsi pakan, berat telur, hen day production, egg mass, konversi pakan dan IOFC. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bekatul dapat digunakan dengan level tertinggi 30% dalam pakan dan tidak mempengaruhi perubahan performa produksi ayam petelur.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan organik protein dalam pakan terhadap performa ayam pedaging. Materi penelitian adalah organik protein dan Day old chicken (DOC) ayam pedaging, unsexed sebanyak 480 ekor. Rata- Rata bobot badan DOC 47,48 ± 1,89 g dengan koefesien keberagaman 3,98%. Metode penelitian adalah percobaan lapang dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 6 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu P0 : Pakan basal (pakan control) ,P1 : 98.5 % Pakan basal  ditambah 1,5%  organik protein, P2 : 97.0 % Pakan basal ditambah 3,0%  organik protein, P3 : 95.5 % Pakan basal ditambah 4,5%  organik protein, P4 : 94.0 % Pakan basal ditambah 6,0%  organik protein. Variabel yang diukur adalah konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan, konversi pakan, mortalitas, Income Over Feed Cost, bobot karkas, persentase karkas, persentase deposisi daging dada dan kolesterol daging  Data yang didapatkan di analisis statistik dengan analisis ragam ( ANOVA ) dari Rancangan Acak Lengkap ( RAL). Apabila diperoleh hasil yang berbeda nyata (P>0,05) atau sangat nyata (P<0,01) maka dilanjutkan dengan uji jarak berganda Duncan’s. Hasil dari penelitian yang diperoleh adalah penggunaan organik protein memberikan pengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap pertambahan bobot badan, konversi pakan, Income Over Feed Cost, bobot karkas dan kolesterol daging tetapi tidak memberikan pengaruh (P>0,05) terhadap konsumsi pakan, mortalitas, persentase karkas dan persentase deposisi daging dada. Kesimpulan yang didapatkan dalam penelitian ini adalah penggunaan organik protein sebesar 4,5 % dalam pakan ayam pedaging memberikan produktivitas terbaik.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and evaluate the use of date seed flour in feed on the small intestine characteristics of broilers. This study used 200 Day Old Chick (DOC) broilers with type MB 202. This study used a field experiment method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments used were P0: basal feed without the use of date seed flour (DSF), P1: basal feed using 2.5% DSF, P2: basal feed using 5% DSF, P3: basal feed using 7.5% DSF, P4: basal feed using 10% DSF. The variables measured in this study were the number of villi, villi height, villi surface area, crypt depth, digesta pH, and digesta viscosity. The data obtained during the study were processed using Microsoft Excel software and analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test if the results obtained were significantly different (P<0.05) or very significantly different (P< 0.01). This study gave results that were not significantly different (P>0.05) on the number of villi, villi height, villi surface area, crypt depth, and digesta pH. However, this study was able to give very significantly different results (P<0.01) in digesta viscosity. The conclusion of this study is the use of date seed flour in feed up to 10% was able to give good results on the number of villi, villi height, villi surface area, crypt depth, and digesta pH of the small intestine of broilers, but it has not been able to give good results on the digesta viscosity of the small intestine of broilers.

Abstract

Objective: The aims this study of evaluate the effect of use date (Phoenix dactylifera L.) pits as alternative feed ingredient on egg quality of laying hens.Methods: This study was designed to consist of 5 treatments and 5 replications using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and if the effect was significant (P>0.05) or very significant (P>0.01), then Duncan's Multiple Distance Test (DMRT) was continued. The treatment in this research was the use of date pit flour with different concentration levels, namely 0% (P0), 2.5% (P1), 5% (P2), 7.5% (P3), and 10% (P4).Results: The results showed that the use of date pit flour could increase egg weight, shell weight, shape index, and yolk color.Conclusions: The use of date pit flour (Phoenix dactylifera L.) up to 10% level was used to improve the egg quality of laying hens.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the different levels both metabolic energy and protein treatments on growth performance of Jowo Super (JOPER) chickens. A total of 192 one-day-old chicks Jowo Super chickens (unsexed) were used in twelve-week trials. Prior to statistical analysis using analysis of variances (Anova) where least significance differences subjected using Duncan Multiple Test. The different levels of treatments on growth performance was not significance differ (p > 0.05). In summary, the metabolizable energy was recommended at 2880 kcal/kg (starter periods) and 2,950 kcal/kg (finisher). Feed intake, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, and mortality was best in the 1707.17; 744.25; 2.53; 699.75, respectively.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of unripe sapodilla fruit extract on endogenous antioxidant expression in T1DM BALB/c mice and its free radical scavenging activity. Manilkara zapota extract (MzE) is an aqueous extract of unripe sapodilla fruit and was obtained by maceration and freeze-drying process. This study used 25 male BALB/c mice with 7-weeks-old of age. They were divided randomly into five groups (n=5) before treatment. A single high dose (145 mg/kg BW) of streptozotocin (STZ) was intraperitoneally injected to induce type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). MzE was given orally once each day for 14 days. Liver cells were isolated and immunoassay with anti-superoxide dismutase (SOD) and anti-nuclear factor erythroid 2-related Factor 2 (Nrf2), and then the results were analyzed by flow cytometry. Diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay was performed to analyze free radical scavenging. Data were analyzed statistically with one-way ANOVA (p<0.05). The result showed that the glucose levels in diabetic mice after MzE administration were significantly lower than in the DM group. MzE treatment increased the expression of Nrf2 and SOD in diabetic mice. MzE could scavenge DPPH with the IC50 value obtained at 48.35 μg/mL, while ascorbic acid as a control could scavenge DPPH with the IC50 value at 22.24 μg/mL. The increase in the scavenging activity is in line with the increase in extract concentration. In conclusion, this study revealed that MzE can be an endogenous antioxidant enhancer by improving the expression of Nrf-2, SOD and can inhibit free radicals as an exogenous antioxidant in T1DM.

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to evaluate physical quality of meat in broiler fed diets with addition of tapioca by-product and tofu waste fermented with a combination Aspergillus niger and Rhizopus oligosporus as a substitution for corn. Two hundred DOC’s unsex Lohmann Platinum strain were randomly divided into 25 groups containing eight birds each. Experiment was designed by using “Completely Randomized Design” with five treatments, replicated five times. The treatments of feed used were P0 = basal diet + corn P1 = basal diet + Corn subtituted 5% OAF, P2 = basal diet + Corn subtituted 10% OAF, P3 = basal diet + Corn subtituted 15% OAF, P4 = basal diet + Corn subtituted 20% OAF. Chickens were raised for 35 days. Drinking water and feed were given ad libitum. Meat samples (Pectoralis superficialis) were taken to determine the physical qualities of meat. The results showed that addition of OAF did not exertisignificant effect on carcass presentage, pH, water-holding capacity, and cooking loss of meat of broiler. The conclusion was that the additional of OAF cannot improve the quality of physical broiler meat. The best result showed at third treatment with 15% OAF substitution of feed.

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to evaluate the production performance and egg quality of laying hens supplemented with phytobiotics and magnetized drinking water. This experiment used 2700 gauss level in Magnetized Drinking Water (MDW). The phytobiotics had two form: the non-encapsulated phytobiotics (PTO) and encapsulated phytobiotics (EPTO). There were untreated water (control) and the treated water (MDW, PTO, PTO+MDW, EPTO, EPTO+MDW). The treatments were presented by 0.6% for each treatment. The result showed highly significant (p<0.01) improvement on feed conversion ratio (FCR) but no significant effect on other production performance variables including feed intake, hen day production (HDP), egg mass, and income over feed cost (IOFC). The results indicated a highly significant improvement (p<0.01) on egg weight and yolk cholesterol. There were no significant effects on shape index (SI), shell weight, shell thickness, Haugh unit (HU), albumen height, yolk weight, yolk index (YI), and yolk color of egg quality variables. It was concluded that the encapsulated form (EPTO and EPTO+MDW) had the best improvement on FCR and yolk cholesterol, on another hand the non-encapsulated form (PTO and PTO+MDW) increased the egg weight of laying hens

Abstract

Nurul Quran Islamic boarding school (so called pondok pesantren in Bahasa Indonesia) would develop a quail farming business to provide agriculture skills and develop entrepreneurship for the students and alumni. Quail farming is selected because it is relatively easy, lucrative, has productivity up to 90%, produces 130-300 eggs per week, and does not require an extensive farming area. This study aims to analyze the feasibility study of the quail farming business at Nurul Quran Islamic boarding school, Bali, Indonesia. The method used in this study was purposive sampling. The economic analysis includes cost, revenue, Return on Investment and SWOT analysis. The findings indicate that the quail farming business will be most efficient at a scale of 3,000 birds with a total cost of Rp 214,849,351 and total revenue of Rp 297,975,000 per period.  The return per cost of the business is 1.39; the boarding school will achieve a return of investment up to 51.22%. The SWOT analysis shows that the quail farming business at the boarding school has an excellent opportunity. However, the boarding school should have some strategies to minimize the weaknesses and threats that could challenge the business. The boarding school needs to develop human resources before starting the business, maximize the potential of the boarding school, market access, technology, and networking with the Muslim community as the marketing strategy for the quail farming business.

Abstract

Penggunaan Natural Growth Promotor (NGP) dalam fitobiotik sebagai pengganti Antibiotics Growth Promoters (AGP) sedang gencar digunakan dengan memanfaatkan tanaman obat herbal Indonesia berupa ampas jamu untuk memacu pertumbuhan, meningkatkan efisiensi pakan dan produktivitas serta menekan konversi pakan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi tentang kompleks kalsium dan ampas jamu di dalam ransum pakan itik pada deskripsi diferensisasi leukosit (limfosit, heterofil, monosit, eosinophil, basophil dan rasio H/L).  Materi dalam penelitian menggunakan 120 ekor itik petelur mojosari fase bertelur umur 24 minggu, kandang jenis postal yang secara acak di bagi menjadi enam perlakuan empat ulangan dengan masing-masing lima ekor itik pada setiap perlakuan. Penelitian ini terdiri atas perlakuan: P0 (pakan tanpa perlakuan dan tanpa antibiotik), P1 (pakan tanpa perlakuan dan antibiotik zinc bacitracin 0,25%), P2 (pakan tanpa perlakuan + kalsium ampas jamu 0,25%), P3 (pakan tanpa perlakuan + kalsium ampas jamu 0,5%), P4 (pakan tanpa perlakuan + kalsium ampas jamu 0,75%) dan P5 (pakan tanpa perlakuan + kalsium ampas jamu 1%). Pakan perlakuan dalam penelitian ini di berikan selama 60 hari. Di akhir masa penelitian, sampel diambil untuk pemeriksaan darah lengkap. Analisis ANOVA oneway digunakan untuk analisis statistik data. Efek signifikan dilanjutkan dengan Duncan sebagai uji lanjut dan data divisualisasikan menggunakan aplikasi prism. Hasil dalam penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa penambahan kalsium dan ampas jamu tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap nilai leukosit dan diferensial leukosit terdiri dari (limfosit, heterofil, monosit, eosinophil, basophil dan rasio H/L). Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan penambahan kompleks kalsium dan ampas jamu di dalam pakan dengan konsentrasi berbeda selama 60 hari tidak berpengaruh terhadap diferensial leukosit itik petelur mojosari, meskipun kondisi tersebut secara fisiologi masih normal.
