Abstract

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of the inclusion of different levels of shrimp waste meal fermented with Aspergillus niger (LUF) in diets on growth performance and digestive organ weight of broilers. A total of 75 d-old chicks were randomly allocated to 5 (five) treatments in 3 replication pens of 5 birds each. Treatments consisted of LUF inclusion of 0 (control), and 5, 7.5, 10 and 12,5% (P0, P1, P2, P3 and P4) in the diets. Birds were raised under standard condition and provided with feed and water ad-libitum. Feed and birds were weighed weekly up to 35 days to determine body weight, feed intake and feed conversion. At the end of experimental period, the birds were slaughatered and dressed up to determine carcass percentage and digestive organ weight. There was a significant negative linear response in body weight, feed consumption and feed conversion with increase of LUF more than 7.5% in the diets until 35 days of age, but % carcass was almost the same for all treatment. There was no significant response in digestive organ weight with increasing levels of LUF. The present result indicated that LUF could be considered as a potential feed ingredient as protein source of broiler but its inclusion should be limited until 7.5% of the diet to maintain growth performance and digestive organ weight. Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of giving Garlic and Allium sativum (TUKBP) Flour as feed additives on various levels of feeding in feed consumption, Hen Day Production (HDP), egg mass, feed conversion and Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC) in laying hens. A total of 320 laying hens strain Isa Brown produced by PT. Charoen Pokphand aged 30 weeks, divided into 8 treatments and 4 replications each replication using 10 chickens. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Eight treatment groups were as follows: basal feed + 0% TUKBP as negative control feed (P0), basal feed + virginiamycin antibiotic 0.015% as positive control (P1), and basal feed + TUKBP 0.25% (P2), 0, 50% (P3), 0.75% (P4), 1.00% (P5), 1.25% (P6) and 1.50% (P7). Data were analyzed using ANOVA test, if there were significant differences between treatments continued with Duncan's Multiple Range test. The results showed that feed with the addition of TUKBP can improve the appearance of laying hens, although it has not matched the feed with the addition of antibiotics. The use of TUKBP to the level of 1.50% in feed does not cause negative effects for laying hens. Administration of TUKBP at 1.00% level (P5) is able to replace synthetic antibiotics or as organic additive feeds in laying chicken feed.

Abstract

Corn is a feedstuff that use as a major component of energy sources and hard to be replaced other feedstuff in poultry ration, even its use is always above 45% in the composition of poultry feed. However, domestic maize availability is limited and the price is changes depend on season harvest time, and most of the availability for animal feed is still imported. Besides that, there is a ban on the use of Antibiotic Growth Promoter (AGP) in poultry feed and drinking water effectively since January 2018, so an effort is needed to replace AGP with natural feed additives or Natural growth promoters (NGP). Based on the above conditions, it is necessary to make efforts to replace corn with local feed ingredients, one of which is apple extraction pomace (apple pomaces). The pomace of apple extraction, if left unchecked, will quickly rot so that it will potentially as an environmental pollutant. The potential of apple pomace extract can be used as a feed ingredient with high sugar and energy content (2300 kcal/kg BK). This research was conducted in the Field Laboratory of Sumber Sekar, Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and Feed, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Agricultural Technology Laboratory, Brawijaya University. The experiment used 192 DOC broilers and placed them in 8 postal cages per replication. Research on Enzymanted apple pomaces (EAP) as a substitute for corn used a completely randomized design (CRD) P0: basal feed, P1: substitution of EAP 5%, P2: substitution of EAP 10%, P3: substitution of EAP 15%. The variables observed were the production performances include (feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion ration) and the % internal organs. Based on the research, the results were not significantly different on the production performances and the % of organs in broilers. The use of apple pomaces can be used as a substitute for broiler feed up to a level of 15%.

Abstract

The study was aimed to investigate the effects of some kinds of commercial feed on quantitative and qualitative production performance of broiler chicken include feed intake, weight gain, feed conversion ratio, mortality, index of production (IP), income over feed cost (IOFC), percentage of carcasses, deposition of breast meat, meat cholesterol, and antibiotic residues. This study used 200 unsexed day old broiler chick which were allocated in Completely Randomized Design and analyzed using one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The birds were fed some of the commercial diets produced by PT. P, PT. M, PT. C, or PT. W from 35 days rearing period. Analysis in the laboratory revealed that different commercial diets did not contain different chemical composition, including: dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, ether extract, gross energy, calcium, phosphorus and antibiotic residues. Different commercial broiler feeds did not affect feed consumption, but affect (P<0.05) body weight gain, carcass percentage, income over feed cost, and high significantly affect (P<0.01) feed conversion, breast meat deposition, production index, and cholesterol deposition. Oxytetracycline  residues in chicken meat from all treatment diets were <30 ppb. Effect of some kinds of commercial feed showed different results on feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, carcass percentage, breast  meat  deposition,  production index,  and  IOFC, meat cholesterol and antibiotic residue. However, feed from PT. M showed better results, as it gave production index and IOFC values than that of other commercial feeds.

Abstract

This study was conducted to compare the use of two types of feed on production performances of laying hen (feed consumption, egg production, feed conversion ratio, and population depletion) in Blitar Regency. Data were collected from several laying hen farms in Blitar Regency with survey method. All data were then analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. The average feed price of semi self-mixed feed and total self-mixed feeds were Rp 5,031 and Rp 4,752 per kg. Hen received semi self-mixed feed in one period showed 117.5 g/hen/day of feed intake, 70.38% of egg production, 2.62 of feed conversion ratio, and 20.50% of population depletion. Meanwhile, the total self-mixed feed resulted 118.23 g/hen/day of feed consumption, 71.75% of egg production, 2.39 of feed conversion ratio, and 15.94 of population depletion in one period. The proximate analysis showed that the total self-mixed feed had better nutrient balance compared to semi self-mixed feed, based on SNI 01-3929-2006 standard. As conclusion the total self-mixed feed showed more optimal production performances than semi self-mixed feed.
