Abstract

This present study aims to describe the pattern of partnerships between schools and families in basic education as part of character building for students in the context of informal learning in primary schools. The study was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach with 9 school principals and committee members as participants. Participants were recruited from both public and private schools based on regional representation. Data analysis was conducted inductively by linking of family involvement aspects with interactive analysis. The results showed that character building is the responsibility of both the schools and families which is achieved through priority programs implemented in all elementary schools. These programs involved institutional cooperation, family-school collaboration at home and family-teacher communication. The study also found that involvement in all elementary schools was mostly represented by mothers (85%). Character building can also be done by accelerating school-family partnership in a more informal learning context. Through this families and schools go hand in hand promoting culture of achievement, literacy related habits five principles which comprise smile, greeting, say hello, polite, well-mannered and five involvement which are corporation, community leaders in the villages, universities, family and city government. Involving families in children's education evidently provides confidence, comfort and enthusiasm in learning at home and at school. Abstract

Families living in slum areas are exposed to dense population and low income, both of which are conditions that make it difficult to meet the educational needs of their children. This article describes the involvement of parents in educating their children at home and at school. The study was carried out using ethnographic methods with 33 marginal families as informants. Marginal families who have children of elementary school age in grades 5 and 6, especially those living on the outskirts or banks of the Winongo and Code rivers, 3 large rivers that seem to divide the city of Yogyakarta, were included in this study. Data were collected using interviews, observations and focus groups. The results of the study show parental involvement as a form of transformation of knowledge systems, values, attitudes and skills. This often occurs in a patterned manner, repeatedly using examples, sometimes coercion as educational praxis at home and school in specific social environment situations. The daily interaction between parents and children in parent-child conversations tends to be instructive and emphasizes compliance to fulfill children's educational needs.

Abstract

Gender disparities still exist in the business world, yet things are slowly starting to change. Other than that, women have historically faced greater obstacles than men when it comes to achieving success in the business world. Women are becoming leaders in industries and achieving top positions in companies. This paper describes the result of need analysis of women's capacity development strategy among the actors of the community-based creative economy in tourism business. This qualitative approach used observation, interviews with focused group discussion activities, and document analysis as a method to collect data. It was carried out involving 25 women creative economy actors as informants. Business pattern dynamization emerged as one of the strategies to cope with socio-economic issues due to the pandemic, which was done by developing businesses in an agricultural field, fulfilling household needs, online ready-made garments, and opening a business at the beach. The community serves as a social capital that helps creative economy actors in this study overcome hindrances, such as high-interest loans, price war, and unhealthy competition. Hence, these women embody the qualities of resilience, determination, and grit. They prove that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible.

Abstract

Stunting is a growth failure condition experienced by children under two. Efforts to reduce stunting are carried out through two nutritional interventions: specific and sensitive. The Pentahelix approach is worth studying to foster collaboration and alliance in stunting prevention education. This research aims to develop a Pentahelix educational formulation to strengthen specific and sensitive intervention services for the stunting reduction program in the Jember Regency. The research method used is a mixed methods research type. The mixed methods approach or mixed method approach is a research approach that involves the integration or unification of qualitative and quantitative data research. This research is located in the Jember Regency, with respondents including parents, the community, stunting program managers, and stakeholders. The Pentahelix formulation development research results began with planning the learning program. The first step is to conduct a specific and sensitive service assessment. The assessment results are used to develop an education service menu based on the local context and community needs. The final component is the alliance among the Pentahelix elements. Evidence-based policy collaboration is produced through the cooperation of the government and academics, while the media and community deliver direct education using materials prepared by academics. Business actors help ensure sustainable access by providing infrastructure or supporting products. Academics and the government monitor and evaluate the program's effectiveness for future policy improvements. The results of the Pentahelix-based learning program begin with a community assessment, which is an evaluation process to understand the community's needs and the program's effectiveness.

Abstract

Background: Stunting cases in developing countries are a challenge to date, stunting has an impact on the quality of human resources in a country. Research Urgency: Stunting given its numerous effects, including its substantial short-term effects on children's brain development, physical growth, and metabolism, stunting's urgency becomes clear. Although the short-term consequences are alarming, the long-term consequences may include diminished cognitive function, compromised immunity, poorer academic achievement, and an increased risk of long-term conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity. Research Objectives: This research aims to describe the role of Posyandu cadres in stunting focus locations and the changes in parenting styles that parents make after learning their child is at risk of stunting. Research Method: This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Purposive sampling was employed, and seven participants were selected, consisting of mothers of children under five at risk of stunting, Posyandu cadres, and the Head of Village. Data collection involved observations, in-depth interviews, and documentary analysis. The data analysis included data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. To ensure data validity, both source triangulation and technique triangulation were used. Research Findings: The role of Posyandu cadres in addressing stunting includes being instructors, record-keepers, and motivators, and the changes in parenting styles observed are from permissive and neglectful styles to democratic styles. Research Conclusion: The results of the study provide meaning to informal education that has a wide scope. This is proven by the efforts to prevent stunting carried out by posyandu cadres to encourage changes in parenting patterns of parents who have children at risk of stunting.. Research Novelty/ Contibution: This study encourages in-depth research related to stunting prevention efforts through education for parents which must be carried out with various special strategies with an adult learning approach. Because not all posyandu cadres have the same understanding in providing education.
