<![CDATA[This study explores speaking anxiety: the identification of speaking anxiety in English education study program. Using a mixed methods approach, this research selected two different categories, students studying in English Education Department private university and those studying in English Education Department in public university as research participants. The findings suggest that the main factors of speaking anxiety causes at public university were essentially affected by nervousness and idea delivery. Nevertheless, English students in private university claimed that their dominant cause is rooted from self-confidence; considering mistakes and lecturers’ attitude during English speaking performance. This research is beneficial in enriching literature in the scope of English education department, especially in Indonesia and others state adopting English as foreign language. It is crucial to note that students’ voice is worth to listen, as a reflection for English teachers or lecturers identifying their students’ speaking anxiety to apply appropriate and a more effective learning method.]]>

<![CDATA[This study explores hypnoteaching method to increase students’ senior high school Pekanbaru motivation in learning English. Using a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design and provide pre-test and post-test to the both control class groups and experimental groups where SMA Handayani students and SMA PGRI students as research participants. The findings showed that 1) low student motivation is one of the causes of low student learning outcomes, 2) a classroom atmosphere to support the learning process is not built yet, 3) teachers do not found yet the right method to increase and keep students learning motivation. Based on the results of the research data processed using the paired-sample t test, there were found significant differences, namely before and after implementing the hypnoteaching method in learning English with alpha results less than 0.05. This study is beneficial in enriching literature in the scope of English education study programs, especially in Indonesia and others adopting English as a foreign language as a matter of applying appropriate and a more effective learning methods.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aimed to determine the employability skills of English Education students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau. This research conducted because there are some students who do not have work competence, have not mastered ICT (Information and Communication Technology), have not been able to communicate in English well and think critically, less innovative, and have not been problem solving oriented. This study used a qualitative approach in data collection, while the data collection techniques used questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The population and sample are English Education students in the even semester of 2021. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out using qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study will be stated in the form of publications articles in the Sinta 2 Accredited National Journal in the field of English education. The article will be published in the journal Eralingua. In addition to accredited national journals, research results will be published in Scopus indexed international journals as additional outputs, namely the International Journal of Instruction and produce a Manuscript, and Copyright recorded by the Director General of Intellectual Property Rights, Ministry of Law and Human Rights.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study was to develop English learning media based on an Android application for X SMA compliments material, as well as to determine the quality of media products. This study uses Research and Development (R&D) research and the model used is the ADDIE Development model which consists of 5 stages namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. The data analysis technique used is feasibility and quality the media obtained with the instrument in the form of a questionnaire. This product has been validated by material experts, media experts. The results of the validation show that material experts obtain an average of 4.77 which is included in the "Very Good" criteria, for the validation results of media experts obtain an average of 4.56 in the "Very Good" category. The developed media was tested on 26 class X SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru. Based on the acquisition results these data indicate that Android-Based English Learning Media in Material Compliments is suitable for use as a learning resource for high school students. In trial with students obtaining a result of 4.61 which is included in the "Very Good" criteria. It can be concluded that this android-based application product can increase student motivation and achievement and is suitable for use in the learning process.]]>

<![CDATA[The correlation between the writing and speaking abilities of students at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru in recount text was the primary focus of this research. The purpose of this study was to determine the significance of the relationship between students' writing and speaking abilities in English recount texts. This study used quantitative methods. The subjects in this study are the SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru class IX students for the academic year 2023. The whole class IX of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru becomes the sample for this study, which adopts total sampling technique. used two tests: a speaking and writing test on recount text. The findings indicated that students' writing got low score of 50 and a high score of 95. In contrast, the maximum score for students' recount text speaking ability was 90, while the lowest score was 50. Moreover, correlation coefficient found that students' writing and students' speaking abilities in recount text have a positive correlation, and the correlation between those variables were high. The study recommended that students should do more practice in writing to make them more understandable and able to construct a good sentence. Besides that, the students should practice speaking every time to improve their speaking.]]>

<![CDATA[This study delves into the development and implementation of an application-based learning media called "Verbiloquy" aimed to improve students' English vocabulary mastery. The research was conducted at SMK Negeri 4 Pekanbaru with 32 students from class X DPK-BT 2. The ADDIE methodology, which includes Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation, provided a systematic approach to develop and implement the learning media product. Data collection involved pre-test and post-test assessments to measure the impact of the learning media on students' vocabulary mastery. Material and media experts evaluated the developed product, with results indicating high feasibility and effectiveness. The result of students’ vocabulary test was improved in the quality of their vocabulary ability measured by the result of the N-gain classification showed at 0.54 increase in students' vocabulary test scores, categorizing the improvement as "Medium." Comparison with previous studies revealed similar positive outcomes in terms of improving English vocabulary mastery using different learning tools. The study concludes that "Verbiloquy" is an effective tool for enhancing students' vocabulary skills, contributing to a more engaging and efficient learning experience. The researcher highlights the potential of Focusky as a valuable learning media in improving students' language proficiency.]]>

<![CDATA[Reading comprehension is reading for understanding. It needs the reader to comprehend the content being read. Students have difficulty understanding the meaning of the reading text and difficulty concentrating if they read the text aloud. Students also have low reading comprehension. The research objective of the research was to determine whether the students’ silent reading technique habits have a correlation with students’ reading comprehension at the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Pekanbaru. This research was used quantitative correlational research. The sample of this research is 105 students consisting of 3 classes. The researcher conducted a questionnaire to measure students' silent reading technique habits and to measure students’ reading comprehension, the researcher used a reading test. It could be seen from the data that the questionnaire and reading test were normally distributed with a Monte Carlo significance result of 0.067. Additionally, the correlation between silent reading technique habits and their reading comprehension was linear, proven by the linearity test score is 0.414. Based on the result of the Pearson product-moment through the SPSS 25 version, it could be seen the significance score for both variables was 0.667 which is greater than 0.05. It means the null hypothesis is accepted. In addition, it showed that there is no correlation with the ‘Very Low’ level of correlation because the Pearson correlation for the instruments score were -0.043. It may be stated that students' silent reading technique habits and reading comprehension do not correlate to a low level and a negative relationship.]]>

<![CDATA[Kemampuan berbahasa Inggris sangat penting dalam dunia pendidikan dan globalisasi. Salah satu aspek utama dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris adalah tata bahasa grammar, yang sering menjadi tantangan bagi siswa Indonesia karena perbedaan mendasar dengan struktur bahasa Indonesia. Keterbatasan kesempatan untuk berlatih serta rasa takut melakukan kesalahan turut menghambat penguasaan tata bahasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kegiatan English Club terhadap keterampilan tata bahasa siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain survei. Lokasi Penelitian ini dilakukan di Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau dengan subjek penelitian yaitu anggota kegiatan English Club di kampus tersebut. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes untuk mengukur kemampuan tata bahasa siswa sebelum dan setelah mengikuti kegiatan English Club, serta kuesioner untuk mengetahui pengalaman dan persepsi mereka. Uji validitas dilakukan untuk memastikan instrumen penelitian dapat mengukur variabel secara akurat, sementara uji normalitas menggunakan Shapiro-Wilk menunjukkan bahwa data terdistribusi normal. Analisis regresi sederhana menunjukkan bahwa partisipasi dalam English Club memiliki dampak signifikan terhadap peningkatan keterampilan tata bahasa siswa, dengan nilai koefisien regresi sebesar 0,838. Hasil penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa keterlibatan siswa dalam English Club secara positif berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan kemampuan tata bahasa mereka. English Club menyediakan lingkungan belajar yang lebih interaktif dan mendukung, sehingga siswa lebih percaya diri dalam mengaplikasikan grammar secara praktis. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan ini dapat menjadi strategi efektif dalam memperbaiki penguasaan grammar siswa di sekolah.]]>
