Abstract

This research was conducted to examine the effect of BAP and NAA interactionally and individually on explant growth of dragon fruit in-vitro. The research was carried out at the Biotechnology Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture Riau Islamic University Pekanbaru. The experiment used the completely randomized design with two factors. The first factor was BAP concentration (B) with four treatments: B0 (0 ppm), B1 (2 ppm), B2 (4 ppm), and B3 (6 ppm). The second factor was NAA concentration (N) with four treatments: N0 (0 ppm), N1 (0.5 ppm), N2 (1.0 ppm), and N3 (1.5 ppm), so it was obtained 16 combination and 3 treatments. The observed parameter included age of shoot emergence, shoot number, and shoot height. As a result, the interaction use BAP ad NAA had effect on age of shoot emergence with BAP concentration of 4 ppm and 1,0 ppm. By using BAP only affected on the age of shoot emergence, percentage of explant life, and shoot height with BAP concentration of 4 ppm. Furthermore, the using NAA only had an effect on age of shoot emergence, shoot number and shoot height with concentration of 1.0ppm.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the response of using several kinds of auxin (IBA, IAA and NAA) and concentration (1 ppm, 3 ppm, 5 ppm). This research was conducted in the Biotechnology Laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture Riau Islamic University Pekanbaru during three months, starting from August to October 2011. A half of Medium used was Murashige and Skoog (1/2 MS) with the addition of activated charcoal into the formation of Dendrobium orchid roots. The parameters measured were the number of roots in each week (days 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42). The use of different concentrations of IBA had a significant effect on the parameters examined. In this case of use of concentrations of IAA and NAA, the highest yield obtained from 5 ppm IBA could produce the amount of 4.00 roots per explant at the age of 35 days after initiation. The second highest yield was 5 ppm NAA which could produce to about 3,83 roots per explant at the age of 35 days, followed by 5 ppm IAA with production of root to amount 3.16 per explant.

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to recognize the effect of interaction various planting media and growquick fertilizer on Anthurium growth resulting from tissue culture. This research was conducted at the green house of Faculty Agriculture Riau Islamic University during three months, from January to March 2011. The completely randomized design with two factors was used. The factor M (media) consisted of 4 treatments and G (Growquick) consisted of 4 treatments and three replications. The M factor namely M0 (without media), M1 (burned husk and coco peat; 1:1), M2 (burned husk and cut edible fern; 1:1), and M3 (cut edible fern and coco peat; 1:1). The G factor, i.e, G0 (witout media), G1 (growquick fertilizer 2.5 ml/lt water), G2 ((growquick fertilizer 5 ml/lt water), and G3 ((growquick fertilizer 7.5 ml/lt water). The observed parameters were plant height, number of leaf per plant, wide leaf, length of the longest leaf, root number, and length of the longest root. The result showed that interactionally application of various growth media of cut edible fern + coco peat and growquick 5.0 ml/lt water on authorium affected on number of leave per plant and length of leaf. The treatment of various growth media only affected on all parameters observed with the best treatment M3. The treatment of growquick fertilizer only affected on all parameters observed with the best treatment of G2 (5.0 ml/lt water).

Abstract

The objective of this reserach was to know the effect intereactionally and individually of Kinetin and NAA application on embryo multiplication for sugar palm. This research was conducted at the Biotechnology Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture Riau Islamic university Pekanbaru from October 2010 to January 2011. The experimental used the Completely Randomized Design with 2 factors. The first factor was K with 4 treatments; K0 (0 ppm), K1 (0.1 ppm), K2 (1.0 ppm), and K3 (10.0 ppm). The second factor was N with 4 treatments; N0 (0 ppm), N1 (0.1 ppm), N2 (0.5 pmm), and N3 (1,0 ppm). The observed parameters consisted of emergent shoot age (day), percentage of emergent shoot (%), shoot height (cm), and emergent root age (day). The obtained data were analyized using statistice technique and then test with 5% significant level. The result showed that interaction of Kinetin and NAA application had a significat effect on emergent root age with the best treatment of k1N0 30.66 days. Individually, kinetin affected significantly on emergent shoot age, percentage of emergent shoot, emergent root age with the best treatment of K2, and shoot height with the best treatment of K3. Furthermore, NAA hada a significant effect on emergent shoot age and shoot height with the best treatment of N3 and emergent root age with the best treatment of N0.

Abstract

Plant selection of mutant with cholcisin of 507 accessions planted at the experimental farm of FMIPA Biology Riau University. A Completely Randomized Design was used in this research. Observation result for 15 accessions M1 and M2 of mutant mung bean pea had a potential to be developed as a high yielding plant. Based on observation of plant height characteristics for mutant mung bean was obtained the plant height ranging from 89 to 100.5 cm, flowering age ranging from 32 to 34 days (50%), pod age ranging from 37 to 53 days, harvested pod number ranging from 68 to 70 (50% mature), and pod weight ranging from 39-53 g/heaviest plant. For mung bean, cholcisin mutation induction could induct to emerge mutant generation. This mutant had better productivity comparing to local green pea found in Sendayan Kampar Riau before being inducted. Mutant which showed the best result was M1 and M4 colleting big fruit, 80% of mature and little trikom generation.
