Abstract

This study aims to obtain an instrument of teacher beliefs about learning and teaching in hybrid learning in the post-COVID-19 (New Normal) era. In addition to producing a questionnaire instrument, this study looks for the relationship of belief to learning and learning with Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The research subjects were selected through a random sampling technique (through a lottery) by several teachers/prospective teachers of physics education at schools and in higher education institutions. Structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis was performed using AMOSS v26 using a strong categorical data estimator. The SEM results show the teaching and learning conceptions questionnaire in the marginal fit category (RMSEA) poor fit (NFI, RFI, IFI, TLI, and CGI), in addition, it is shown that the indicators have good internal consistency but lack formation in the latent variance variable. Meanwhile, the results of the SEM Epistemological Beliefs Questionnaire are in the poor fit category, both seen from the RMSEA and NFI, RFI, IFI, TLI, and CGI. Indicators of Fixed ability, learning effort, Authority, and Certainty Knowledge have good internal consistency, while Authority internal consistency is not good. The variance on the Epistemological belief questionnaire extracted from the indicators is greater for the formation of latent variables. Keywords: Adaption, Epistemological belief about teaching-learning questionnaire, Preservice physics teacherDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v10.n1.202213

Abstract

Newton's third law is a fundamental concept of Physics that is still not reached by students. The tendency of students who do not understand the concept well can be observed by measuring the ability of multi-representation and solutions when solving Physics problems. Therefore, this study aims to determine the concept of Newton's third law understood by students, the multi-representation students have, and the consistency of students' answers in answering physics questions. The participants numbered 28 students from the second semester of high school, selected using the purposive sampling technique, who had just completed discussions about Newton's Law and were willing to participate in this study. Participants were given 6 two-tier question items that managed the R-FCI questions. The results of the answers were analyzed quantitatively to determine the initial percentage description and then analyzed qualitatively to determine understanding, multi-representation ability, and consistency in depth. Most of the participants had low conceptual understanding and answered the questions consistent-wrong. However, based on the analysis of the answer choices and the reasons given, most students understand the meaning of the representation of the answers given

Abstract

Schools must have the 4C abilities, notably creative thinking, to keep up with the advancement of science and technology in the 21st century's educational institutions. The ability to think creatively strives to involve activities, analyze, synthesize, generate conjectures, create something new, and utilize the knowledge acquired in practical ways. Some studies show that students' creative thinking skills in momentum and impulse materials are not optimal. One of the factors that cause students' low creative thinking skills is the learning process. This study aims to provide an overview of students' creative aptitudes on momentum and impulse topics. This study used a mixed method with an embedded experimental design. At SMA 1 Menggala in Lampung, this study was carried out. 28 students of class X MIPA 2 involved in the study were taken as samples with a saturated sampling technique. For this study, the students participated in tests and interviews. Of the four essay questions on momentum and impulse that made up the creative thinking ability exam each validity value (0.686) and reliability (0.610) had a high category. A creative mind is characterized by fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Problem-based learning models can help students' creative thinking skills, according to the findings of research on the subject. According to the results of the investigation, most students have a high level of creativity on the indicator of fluency. The problem-based learning model is successful in enhancing the ability to think creatively and is expected to be applied in further research on different topics. Keywords: Creative Thinking Ability, Problem-Based Learning, Impulse and MomentumDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v11.n1.202304

Abstract

Metacognitive skills are an important component supporting mastery of concepts in studying physics. This research aims to describe students' metacognitive skills through STEM-integrated discovery learning on kinetic gas theory material at SMAN 1 Dolopo. This research uses the One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design method, where in this design, one experimental group is selected to measure students' metacognitive abilities. The research on the kinetic theory of gas metrics was carried out in class XI Merdeka 4. The research took place in the odd semester of 2022-2023. The results of students' metacognitive skills show an increase in every metacognitive aspect, namely planning skills. The increase occurred in every meta-cognitive aspect, namely planning skills, which were originally 66.4 to 73.7. Monitoring skills, which previously received a score of 60.4, also changed to 73. Evaluating skills possessed by students also changed, from 64.4 to 67.4. Significant increases occurred from the pretest to the posttest, especially in the monitoring skills category. From the table, it is known that the increase occurred from the moderately developed to the developed category. Based on the research and discussion results, the metacognitive skills of class XI Merdeka 4 students are included in the developing category after receiving STEM-integrated discovery learning. This is in line with research that states that the inquiry learning model, including the discovery learning model, positively affects students' metacognition in learning. High-performing students may have better metacognitive skills than low-performing students. High-performing students may have better metacognitive skills than low-performing students.
