Abstract

The purpose of this research are to examine: (i) the problem solving ability of class VII-2 students at SMPN 1 Bima City in mathematics learning process using problem creating model; (ii) the problem solving process of class VII-2 student at SMPN I Bima City in mathematics learning process using problem creating model. This research employed qualitative approach. Data was collected though observation of learning presentation and in-depth interview. The results of this research reveal that (i) the research subjects who have high, medium, and low ability are able to solve mathematics problems well by completing all the steps of mathematics problem. However, the research sebjects have less accuracy on each problem solving result without writing the conclusion of the answers; (ii) in general, class VII-2 students can solve the mathematics problems well, but the mistakes they do are no written conclusion on the answers obtained.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the Effectiveness of the Cooperative Learning Model with Group Advisory Strategy in Mathematics Learning of the Grade VII SMP. This research is pre-experiment with techniques sampling is cluster random sampling. Data collection was carried out using observation sheets of implementation of learning, test results of learning (pretest and posttest), observation sheets of student activities, and student questionnaire responses. The data analysis technique used is descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The results of descriptive statistical analysis showed: (1) The average score of learning outcomes after learning reaches 80.04 with standard deviation of 8.79, (2) the posttest results show that classical completeness is achieved 91% (3) The average percentage of student activity is 89% (4) the average percentage of students who gave positive response 89%. The results of inferential statistical analysis showed : (1) The average value of students taught using cooperative learning models with the Advisor Group Strategy is greater than completeness, which is 70, and (2) The proportion of classical completeness of learning outcomes after the application of the cooperative learning model with Group Advisors Strategy achieve classical completeness. From the results of this research it can be concluded that cooperative learning models with the Group Advisory Strategy are effectively used in students of grade VII.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif dengan strategi think talk write (TTW) terhadap kemampuan penalaran, dan komunikasi matematis, serta motivasi belajar siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian quasi eksperimen yang melibatkan dua kelompok yang diberi perlakuan yang berbeda. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMPN 1 Sinjai Utara dan dipilih secara cluster random sampling yaitu kelas VII-6 dan VII-7. Hasil yang diperoleh dari analisis statistika deskriptif, yaitu: kemampuan penalaran siswa setelah diajar dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif dengan strategi TTW berada pada kategori rendah, kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa berada pada kategori sedang, dan motivasi belajar siswa berada pada kategori sedang, sedangkan kemampuan penalaran siswa setelah diajar dengan model pembelajaran langsung dengan strategi ekspositori berada pada pada kategori sangat rendah, kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa berada pada kategori rendah, dan motivasi belajar siswa berada pada kategori sedang. Hasil analisis statistika inferensial diperoleh bahwa: kemampuan penalaran, dan komunikasi matematis, serta motivasi  siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif dengan strategi TTW lebih baik dari  siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran langsung, Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif dengan strategi TTW  terhadap kemampuan penalaran, dan komunikasi matematis, serta motivasi belajar siswa.Kata kunci: Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif,Model Pembelajaran Langsung, Strategi Think Talk Write, Strategi Ekspositori, Kemampuan Penalaran, Kemampuan Komunikasi, Motivasi Belajar.Abstract. This research aims to determine the influence of implementing  the think talk write (TTW) strategy of cooperative learning model towards mathematics reasoning and communication abilities and students motivation in mathematics learning. The type of this research was a quasi-experimental study involving two different treatment groups. The population of this study were students of grade VII SMPN 1 Sinjai Utara and selected by cluster random sampling that  were class VII-6 and VII-7. The results obtained from descriptive statistical analysis was: the mathematics reasoning abilities of students by applying cooperative learning model with TTW strategy is in low category, communication ability is in moderate category, and student learning motivation is in moderate category, and the mathematics reasoning abilities of students by applying direct learning model with expository strategy is in very low category, communication ability is in low, and student learning motivation is in moderate category. The results of inferential statistical analysis obtained that: mathematical reasoning, and communication ability, and the motivation of students by applying cooperative learning model with TTW strategy better than the mathematical reasoning, and communication ability, and the learning motivation of students taught by direct learning model. From the result of this research, it can be concluded that there was the  influence of applying cooperative learning model with think talk write strategy to mathematical reasoning, and communication ability, and the learning motivation of students.Keyword: Cooperative Learning Model, Direct Learning Model, Think Talk Write Strategy, Expository Strategy, Mathematics Reasoning Ability, Mathematics Communication Ability, Student Learning Motivation.

Abstract

It is necessary to develop metacognitive skills-based teaching materials to foster mathematical problem-solving abilities. This research is a research and development. Method used for development is based on [1] using four phases: Design, Construction, Testing, Evaluation and Revision. The criteria used to assess the quality of the learning device refer to the material quality criteria proposed by [2], namely: validity, practicality, effectiveness. Subject of trials in this research are 25 students of XI IPA-4 and 25 students of XI IPA-2. Two indicators of this study are metacognitive skills and problem solving. Metacognitive skills are: prediction skills, planning skills, monitoring skills, and evaluation skills. Indicators of problem solving are: understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back. The data are collected by giving Tests and questionnaires, and through observations. The research instruments are: questionnaire of validation for teaching materials, student questionnaire responses to instructional materials, observation sheet activities of learners, observation sheets of learning implementation and learning management observation sheet. The result of this research is metacognitive skills-based teaching materials are succeeded (fulfilling the criteria of valid, practical, and effective) to emerge students mathematical problem-solving.

Abstract

Abstrak; Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) pada siswa kelas XI IPA-1 SMAN 22 Makassar. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (calassroom action reasearch) dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas XI IPA-1 SMAN 22 Makassar semester genap tahun 2014/2015 dengan jumlah 40 siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dari model Kemmis & McTaggart yang terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu: perencanaan, pelaksanan, observasi, dan refleksi. Hanya saja Model Kemmis & McTaggart menggabungkan tahap pelaksanaan dan observasi pada setiap siklusnya. Keempat tahapan itu dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus masing-masing siklus terdiri dari lima kali pertemuan, dimana tiap siklus difokuskan pada materi tentang turunan dengan penerapan pendekatan POE. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Data kualitatif berupa data tentang aktivitas siswa, keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, dan respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran. Sedangkan data kuantitatif berupa hasil tes hasil belajar (kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif) setelah melalui proses pembelajaran pada setiap siklus. Analisis data kualitatif dan kuantitatif dilakukan secara deskriptif, untuk data kualitatif menggunakan teknik persentase dengan analisis tingkat keaktifan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran, sedangkan analisis data kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode statistik, menghitung ketuntasan individual dan ketuntasan klasikal dengan menggunakan rubrik penilaian kemampan pemecahan masalah dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah baik, karena siswa yang mendapat nilai antara 50–100 sebanyak 87,5% dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa meningkat dengan skor rata-rata > 2,4 berarti ketuntasan belajar secara klasikal juga terpenuhi karena lebih dari 85% siswa dinyatakan tuntas, serta aktivitas siswa meningkat sebesar 96,25% berada pada kategori sangat baik yang artinya ada respon postif siswa terhadap pembelajaran POE. Kata kunci: kemampuan berpikir kreatif, POE (Predict-Observe-Explain).

Abstract

This research aims to develop worksheets through Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model to improve students' creative thinking. The implementation of the research conducted by Research & Development (R & D), with a model of Four-D development. This model consists of 4 stages of development: Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate, with the development of learning mathematics of worksheets for the material fractions through Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model to improve creative thinking the fifth-grade students of SD Tunas Bangsa Makassar. The instrument used in this research was the sheet validity test, sheet test the practicalities, and the post-test (students thinking creatively). Based on the validity test results, worksheets through the model of creative problem solving (CPS) with an average value of 4,01 and valid category. While the test results in the practicalities when the trial was limited worksheets with model creative problem solving (CPS) belongs to the category was very practical, with the percentage of 82,43%. Based on the post-test results, students' creative thinking was the category of creative with a percentage of 81,68%. Finally, it can be concluded that worksheets through a model of creative problem solving (CPS) to improve students' creative thinking that developed were valid, practical, and useful. So it can be applied in class V of mathematics subject.

Abstract

Abstrak; Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil kemampuan spasial dalam  menyelesaikan masalah geometri yang disusun berdasarkan indikator kemampuan spasial yaitu kerangka acuan, konservasi jarak, representasi spasial, rotasi mental dan hubungan proyektif pada siswa yang memiliki kecerdasan logis matematis tinggi ditinjau dari perbedaan gender. Instrumen penelitian ialah tes kecerdasan logis matematis, tes kemampuan spasial dalam menyelesaikan masalah geometri (TKSMG), pedoman wawancara dan rubrik penilaian kemampuan spasial. Subjek penelitian ialah 2 siswa laki-laki dan 2 siswa perempuan yang memiliki kecerdasan logis matematis tinggi dilihat dari hasil tes yang diberikan kepada 51 calon subjek. Subjek kemudian diberikan TKSMG disertai wawancara untuk menghasilkan data. Setelah melakukan penafsiran data maka disimpulkan bahwa terkait: (1) kerangka acuan dan rotasi mental, subjek laki-laki dominan menggunakan kemampuan spasialnya sedangkan subjek perempuan dominan menggunakan penalaran logisnya, (2) konservasi jarak, subjek laki-laki dan perempuan kurang menggunakan kemampuan spasialnya dan dominan menggunakan logikanya, (3) representasi spasial dan hubungan proyektif, subjek laki-laki dan perempuan mengintegrasikan kemampuan spasial dan kecerdasan logis matematisnya, (4) level kemampuan spasial, kemampuan spasial subjek laki-laki dan perempuan yang memiliki kecerdasan logis matematis tinggi berada pada level tinggi. Kata Kunci:Kemampuan Spasial, Masalah Geometri, Kecerdasan Logis Matematis, Perbedaan Gender

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi dengan adanya kesulitan-kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita. Rata-rata kesulitan-kesulitan tersebut muncul karena rendahnya kemampuan koneksi matematika yang dimiliki oleh siswa. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan koneksi siswa kelas XI dari beberapa kategori yang dikelompokkan berdasarkan kemampuan penyelesaian soal siswa. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metodelogi penelitian deskriptif.  Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan penyelesaian soal untuk memilih subjek, tes kemampuan koneksi matematika untuk mengetahui kemampuan koneksi matematika subjek secara tertulis, dan wawancara untuk mengetahui kemampuan koneksi matematika siswaa secara lisan sekaligus sebagai triangulasi metode. Selain triangulasi metode, penelitian ini juga menggunakan triangulasi waktu pada tahap wawancara. Subjek yang dipilih berujumlah 6 orang siswa dari kelas XI yang mewakili tiap kategori tes kemampuan penyelesaian soal. Subjek yang terpilih terdiri dari 2 orang dari kategori kemampuan penyelesaian soal tinggi, 2 orang dari kategori kemampuan penyelesaian soal sedang, dan 2 orang dari kategori kemampuan penyelesaian soal rendah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan kategori kemampuan penyelesaian soal tinggi mampu memenuhi 2 dari 3 indikator koneksi matematika. Siswa dengan kategori kemampuan penyelesaian soal sedang mampu memenuhi 1 dari 3 indikator koneksi matematika, dan siswa dengan kategori kemampuan penyelesaian soal rendah tidak mampu memenuhi ketiga indikator koneksi matematika This research is motivated by the difficulties experienced by students in solving story problems. The average of these difficulties arises because of the low ability of the mathematical connections possessed by students. The purpose of this study was to find out how the connection ability of class XI from several categories were grouped based on students' problem solving abilities. The type of research used is qualitative research with descriptive research methodology. The research instrument used was a test of problem solving ability to select subjects, test the ability of mathematical connections to determine the ability of the subject's mathematical connections in writing, and interviews to determine the ability of students' mathematical connections orally as well as triangulation methods. In addition to method triangulation, this study also uses time triangulation in the interview stage. The selected subjects consisted of 6 students from class XI who represented each test category of problem solving abilities. The subjects selected consisted of 2 people from the category of high problem solving abilities, 2 people from the medium problem solving ability category, and 2 people from the low problem solving ability category. The results showed that students with high problem solving ability categories were able to meet 2 of the 3 mathematical connection indicators. Students with the ability to solve the medium problem were able to fulfill 1 of the 3 indicators of mathematical connections, and students with the low problem solving ability category were not able to fulfill the three mathematical connection indicators.

Abstract

Mengingat matematika sangat erat kaitannya dengan hal-hal abstrak sehingga memahami konsep matematika dan kemampuan berpikir kritis sangat penting sehingga perlu ditanamkan kepada peserta didik sejak dini yaitu sejak anak tersebut masih duduk di bangku sekolah dasar. Mereka dituntut mengerti tentang definisi, pengertian, cara pemecahan masalah maupun pengoperasian matematika secara benar. Karena hal tersebut akan menjadi bekal dalam mempelajari matematika pada jenjang pendidikan yang lebih tinggi. Sehingga diperlukan menerapkan model pembelajaran yang melatih peserta didik untuk memecahkan suatu masalah dengan cara menyatakan masalah dengan memahami konsep, menganalisis data yang ditemukan dan sampai pada akhirnya yaitu menarik suatu kesimpulan. Alternatif yang digunakan yaitu dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan strategi heuristik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan strategi heuristik terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas VII SMPN 8 Makassar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pra eksperimen dengan desain the one group pretest-posttest design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas VII SMPN 8 Makassar dan terpilih kelas VII.11 yang mewakili populasi. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini yaitu tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan tes kemampuan berpikir kritis yang kemudian dianalisis dengan statistik deskriptif dan inferensial menggunakan uji t. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, baik itu dari hasil analisi ataupun pengujian hipotesis, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan strategi heuristik berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas VII SMPN 8 MakassarRemembering that mathematics has a big correlation to the abstract things so that understanding mathematical concepts and critical thinking ability is very important so that it needs to be instilled in students from an early age which is since that kid is still in elementary school. They are required to understand the definition, understanding, how to solve problems and operating mathematics correctly. Because it will become a provision in learning mathematics in higher education level. So it is necessary to apply a learning model that trains students to solve a problem by stating the problem by understanding the concept, analyzing the data found and up to conclusion drawing. The alternative used is applying problem based learning model by heuristic strategy. This study aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning models by heuristic strategies on the ability in understanding concepts and critical thinking ability of grade VII students of SMPN 8 Makassar. The type that is used in this research was a pre experimental design with the one group pretest posttest design. The population in this research were all  VII classes of SMPN 8 Makassar and class VII.11 is selected to representate the population. Tehnique of data collection this research were tests of concept understanding ability and tests of critical thinking ability then it is analyzed with descriptive and inferential statistics by using t test. Based on the results of the study, both from the results of the analysis or hypothesis testing, it can be concluded that the problem-based learning model by heuristic strategy influenced the ability to understand concepts and critical thinking ability of students in grade VII of SMPN 8 Makassar
