Abstract

Issues about gender seems to be endless in various countries in the achievement of student learning outcomes, even in mathematics learning between male and female students. This qualitative research aims to explore the levels of mathematical reasoning and communication abilities of students who attend language class programs in senior high schools based on gender. Respondents were students who had abilities with different levels of ability, two each representing male and female students. Data analyze from the results of tests of mathematical reasoning and communication abilities and in-depth interviews using method and time triangulation techniques. The results show that female students are superior in reasoning and communicating than male students in solving math problems.

Abstract

The ability to read Qur’an is a fundamental skill that should be possessed by every Muslim. Certainly, the ability of each individual some are very fluent, while others may not be able to read Qur’an at all. Learning to read Qur’an should ideally begin at a young age so that children can have a foundation for the future. The differences in abilities can be attributed to various factors, such as the lack of attention from parents to include their children in learning at the Al-Qur’an Eduaction Park (TPA). To address this, KKNT team has initiated the Gerakan Cinta Al-Qur’an (GENTA) program with the aim of enhancing the reading abilites of children for read Qur’an. In addition, children are directed to memorize daily prayers. In order to increase religious knowledge in the community, the GENTA program also provides religious gatherings for the public. The results of these activities show that through the Gerakan Cinta Al-Qur’an program, Islamic culture in the Takkalasi has been strengthened. This can be seen through the increased enthusiasm an motivation of children to enhance their religious knowledge and strengthen interpersonal relationships.

Abstract

Abstrak. Kemampuan spasial merupakan kemampuan untuk melihat hubungan ruang, mengenal bentuk dan benda secara tepat, melakukan perubahan suatu benda dalam pikiran, menggambarkan suatu hal atau benda dalam fikiran dan mengubahnya dalam bentuk nyata, mengungkapkan data dalam suatu grafik serta kepekaan terhadap keseimbangan, relasi, warna, garis, bentuk dan ruang. Kemampuan spasial merupakan faktor kecerdasan utama yang tidak hanya penting untuk matematika dan sains, tetapi juga perlu untuk keberhasilan dalam banyak profesi Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan dan melatihkan kemampuan spasial kepada lulusan baru (freshgraduate) jurusan Matematika FMIPA UNM. Selain itu, pengabdian ini juga memberikan berbagai kegiatan yang mampu memperkenalkan dan meningkatkan kemampuan spasial yakni pengenalan kemampuan spasial, memasangkan gambar, membaca peta, dan tes kemampuan spasial.

Abstract

Abstrak. Pelatihan ini merupakan salah satu pelatihan terpadu yang dilaksanakan jurusan matematika FMIPA UNM dengan MGMP Matematika SMP Kabupaten Jeneponto. Tujuan pelatihan ini adalah untuk melatih guru matematika SMP mengenali strategi kognitif yang dapat digunakan dalam memecahkan masalah matematika. Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh 13 guru matematika SMP di Kabupaten Jeneponto. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan dengan metode ceramah dan diskusi serta postest. Respon positif diberikan oleh guru terhadap kegiatan ini. Waktu yang terbatas menjadi kendala yang besar dalam kegiatan ini. Luaran pengabdian ini diharapkan mampu membuat guru memperkenalkan strategi kongitif kepada siswa mereka di kelas.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are to examine: (i) the problem solving ability of class VII-2 students at SMPN 1 Bima City in mathematics learning process using problem creating model; (ii) the problem solving process of class VII-2 student at SMPN I Bima City in mathematics learning process using problem creating model. This research employed qualitative approach. Data was collected though observation of learning presentation and in-depth interview. The results of this research reveal that (i) the research subjects who have high, medium, and low ability are able to solve mathematics problems well by completing all the steps of mathematics problem. However, the research sebjects have less accuracy on each problem solving result without writing the conclusion of the answers; (ii) in general, class VII-2 students can solve the mathematics problems well, but the mistakes they do are no written conclusion on the answers obtained.
