Abstract

Flooding is a common problem in Mugirejo Subdistrict, Samarinda City. The floods are caused by illegal mining activities in the area, making Mugirejo Subdistrict part of a high flood disaster class with a potential flood hazard area of 582 hectares, representing 18.34% of the flood-prone area in Sungai Pinang District. This study aims to map flood-prone areas in Mugirejo Subdistrict using secondary data collection methods, which involve quantitative data such as the basic physical SHP data of Mugirejo Subdistrict. This data is then analyzed using spatial analysis with the overlay method from the basic physical data. The data will be used to create a map of flood-prone areas and to assess the impact on population aspects, public facilities, road and drainage infrastructure, as well as disaster management in Mugirejo Subdistrict, with results indicating that 1149.71 hectares are flood-prone areas.

Abstract

In 2022, the city of Balikpapan experienced 32 flood disasters spread across all sub-districts in Balikpapan City (BPS, 2023). The subdistrict that experienced the most flood disasters was South Balikpapan Subdistrict, where in this subdistrict there were 36 floods from 2020 to 2021. In this subdistrict, the subdistrict with a flood disaster in 2022 was Damai Bahagia Subdistrict. There have been efforts made by the government to deal with flooding, but this has not completely overcome the risk of flooding that occurs. For this reason, further research is needed in formulating effective structural adaptation efforts to reduce the risk and impact of flood disasters in Damai Bahagia Village. In this research, data collection was carried out using primary and secondary surveys, while the analysis method was carried out using content analysis and triangulation. From the results of the analysis, the factors that cause flooding and the structural adaptation efforts that have been carried out to deal with the flood disaster that occurred in Damai Bahagia Village were obtained. Then these results are used to formulate structural adaptation efforts to reduce the impact and risk of flood disasters in flood-prone areas of Damai Bahagia Village.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to provide training and enhance students' understanding of mathematical concepts. The methods used in this activity are direct practical methods and lecture methods. The service was conducted at SDN 2 Kembiritan Jl. Raya Pandan. RT / RW: 1 / 7, Dusun Temurejo, Kembiritan, Kec. Genteng, Kabupaten Banyuwangi, East Java 68465. The implementation of community service activities at SDN 2 Kembiritan was carried out in several stages, namely preparation, execution, and closure. The results of the community service showed that strengthening mathematical concepts with a scientific approach can enhance students' understanding of mathematical concepts. This was proven by the test results, which showed an improvement after the scientific approach was applied.

Abstract

Human activities, particularly those related to energy consumption, mobility, and dietary patterns, are primary contributors to carbon emissions. Previous research indicates that the global composition of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is predominantly influenced by food (approximately 20%), housing (19%), and mobility (17%). In Indonesia, the transportation and housing sectors are recorded as major contributors to emissions. Balikpapan City, as an economic growth center in East Kalimantan, is experiencing rapid urbanization, marked by the development of large-scale residential areas. One such example is the Balikpapan Regency Housing Complex, where the community tends to exhibit high household energy consumption patterns, dependence on private transportation, and urban dietary consumption trends. This study aims to identify the extent to which lifestyle factors, particularly in the domains of mobility, housing, and food, contribute to carbon emissions. The research involves primary data collection through the distribution of questionnaires. A quantitative approach is employed, analyzing the carbon footprint over the past year across the domains of mobility, housing, and food. The results indicate that the housing domain is the highest contributor to the carbon footprint in the Balikpapan Regency Housing Complex

Abstract

A severe flood hit South Kalimantan in 2021. The flood inundated several cities and regions, including Banjamasin City and its surrounding areas in the Martapura Basin. According to data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), over 20,000 houses were flooded, and over 100,000 people were forced to relocate. Many flood causes are being debated these days, including climate change issues which are triggered by many factors. However, the significant factor indicating its existence is the increase in temperatures. Rising temperature will result in the intensity of the extreme rainfall and the change of its pattern. Due to this background, this study aims to evaluate rainfall and temperature variability as an indicator of climate change in the study area. The Man-Kendall Test is used in this study to analyze a trend analysis and its relationship to rainfall. The results show a temperature trend of 0.2 to 0.3 degrees Celsius over the last two decades. It indicates that climate change has occurred on a local scale. Further, the trend of rainfall and temperature have increased in all selected locations. The annual rainfall over the last 20 years has also increased by roughly 25 mm per annum.
