Abstract

Abstract

Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a tool to analyze the environmental impact of the process of production or services. Forest provides enormous environmental benefits through ecosystem services, but some forest management activities (nursery, thinning, pruning, pest control, and harvesting) have produced some negative impacts, such as pollution from machine utilization, fertilizer and pesticide, and water consumption. Furthermore, this paper describes the application of LCA in the forestry sector in Indonesia. We used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) approach to identify, screen, and inclusion the relevant articles. Identified 35 articles related to life cycle assessment in Indonesia's forestry sector, and only 11 articles were eligible for content analysis. The findings have shown that the research trend on LCA in the Indonesia forestry sector started in 2009, but since 2015 the number of publications has been relatively constant. The functional unit used in LCA varied (mass, energy, time, and area size). The system boundary also varied  from cradle to gate, gate to gate, and cradle to grave. The environmental impacts found in the articles were global warming potential, acidification, and eutrophication parameters. In conclusion, LCA has been applied in Indonesia’s forestry sectors (roundwood production, furniture industries, biomass and wood pellet production). We propose that the future research direction is specific research in the site forest operation, such as seedling production, forest maintenance, and forest harvesting activities. We also recommend a more varied research scope to elaborate the LCA in private forest and non-timber forest product processes.

Abstract

Emergency conditions can happen to anyone, anywhere, and at any time. The success of helping victims depends on the accuracy and speed of each stage of the Integrated Emergency Management System. Therefore, Integrated Health Service Post, cadres must be equipped with first aid knowledge and skills as community facilitators in obtaining essential health services. This research, integrated with community service, aims to increase the understanding of Integrated Health Service Post cadres so they are ready to face daily emergencies. The method used is quantitative research of a pilot study with a pre-post one group quasi-experimental design. The intervention provided was training with a case study approach, lectures, and reflection on five skills to 10 people for two days. The skills provided are essential assistance, fainting assistance, fracture assistance, and rescue processes. The results of research integrated with community service showed that by forming a response team consisting of 10 people, partners' knowledge increased from an average of 46 to 71. Partners were also provided with skills videos and pocketbooks for long-term knowledge and skills. This research performance, which is integrated with community service, provides satisfaction to partners, where partners give an average score of 7.5 (0-10). This emergency training is effective in increasing readiness through increasing knowledge and skills.Keyswords: Emergency, integrated health service post, knowledge, readiness, training.

Abstract

Estimation of the potency of community forest is usually done with the census approach for each forest. Sampling methods to estimate the potency of community forest are still rare. The size of community forest is relatively small, scatter, and less irregular shape, therefore the estimation of community forest potency using sampling plot is difficult to apply. The approach of sampling without a plot (plotless/ point sampling) was cheaper and faster compare to the method of sample plots and direct measurement (census) in predicting basal area. The objective of this research is determining the difference in the average value of basal area using direct measurement of stand (census) and point sampling methods. The research was carried out for 4 months in 30 community forests at Kemuning Village, Gunungkidul District. Materials used to estimate basal area with point sampling method were Spiegel Relascope and Bitterlich Stick with the value of Basal Area Factor 1. Parameters measured were diameter at breast high (dbh) for census method and the number of trees were categorized in or border for point sampling method. The result was analyzed statistically using unpaired t-student. The result showed that the average of basal area of tree in community forest with point sampling method were no significantly different from the average of basal area with census method (α = 1%). Therefore, the point sampling method can be considered as a tool in inventory at community forest

Abstract

Indonesia's Central Government Balance Sheet reflects substantial amounts of tax revenue and receivables, indicating the potential for significant state budget receipts. However, for the past 5 years, the audit report of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (Badan Pemeriksa Keuangan, BPK) on the Central Government Financial Report (LKPP) has consistently identified accuracy issues of tax receivable balances. Accordingly, this study explores the accounting problems related to tax revenue and receivables within the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) and proposes solutions how to improve them. A qualitative case study approach was employed using data collected through documentation and triangulated interviews with the Ministry of Finance (DGT and Directorate General of Treasury), BPK, and the Government Accounting Standards Committee. Results showed that inadequate regulation on the accrual-based reporting of tax transactions leads to underreported state revenue and receivables. The findings also provide empirical evidence that adopting International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) 23, which covers revenues from non-exchange transactions (taxes and transfers), into Indonesia’s Government Accounting Standards could solve tax revenue and receivable accounting problems. Furthermore, a comparative analysis of ASEAN countries revealed that Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines have already incorporated IPSAS 23 into their accounting frameworks.

Abstract

Melaleuca leucadendron Linn is one of Indonesia's most important non-timber forest products as a commercial essential oil. The aim of this study was to investigate the variation of compounds in M. leucadendron essential oils when leaves were collected at different times from August 2017 to April 2018 at the Yogyakarta Forest Management Unit (FMU). The essential oils were isolated by steam distillation and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). A total of 13 constituents were identified with major compounds, i.e., 1.8-cineole (57.8 to 76.0%), D (+)-limonene (4.40 to 12.1%), p-cymene (1.53 to 12.9%) and α-terpineol (4.98 to 9.98%). The results showed that the weather conditions in the higher rainfall and flowering were favorable for the production of essential oil (March) and increased the major compounds, especially from November to January (with the exception of α-terpineol, which was found to be higher in September). In contrast to these main compounds, α-pinene, β-pinene, and humulene are used as marker compounds to distinguish between the lowest and highest period. In addition, it is also noted that the flowering stage affects the monthly variation of the major compounds.
