Abstract

Background:Dividend policy decisions are influenced by factors such as free cash flow, capital structure, and return on assets, with company size acting as a control variable. Purpose: The aim of this research is to determine the influence of Free Cash Flow, debt to equity ratio and Return on Assets on company size in banking companies before and after the Covid 19 pandemicDesign/methodology/approach: This research uses a descriptive method, namely research procedures or problem solving that are investigated by describing the subjects or objects used in the form of people, institutions, society, and others.Findings/Results: The results show that free cash flow had a positive and insignificant effect, the debt-to-equity ratio had a negative and significant effect, return on assets had a negative effect on company size before the Covid-19 pandemic, and there was a significant increase in dividend policy before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. Conclusion: The implications of the results of this study for the dividend policy impact of free cash flow, capital structure and return on assets with company size as a control variable Originality/value (State of the art): Companies with higher free cash flows tend to pay out more dividends, whereas a well-managed capital structure and strong return on assets can also support dividend payouts. Company size, as a control variable, helps isolate the effect of these financial factors on dividend policy, ensuring that the results aren't skewed by the size of the firm. Abstract

This study examines the relationship between financial performance indicators—namely Net Profit Margin (NPM), Return on Assets (ROA), and Earnings per Share (EPS)—and the stock prices of Food and Beverage companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2018 to 2022. A quantitative research framework was implemented using descriptive and hypothesis-testing (verificative) methods. The research sample comprised 19 companies selected purposively from a population of 39 firms, generating 95 panel data observations. Prior to hypothesis testing, the data were subjected to classical assumption tests, followed by multiple linear regression analysis to evaluate the effects of the independent variables on stock prices. The results show that partially NPM and EPS have a positive and significant effect on stock prices, while ROA has a negative and insignificant effect. Simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly influence stock prices with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 81.4%, indicating that 81.4% of stock price variation can be explained by NPM, ROA, and EPS, while the remaining 18.6% is influenced by other factors outside the model. The findings imply that profitability indicators, particularly NPM and EPS, are important considerations for investors in evaluating stock performance within the Food and Beverage industry. This study contributes to strengthening empirical evidence regarding fundamental analysis in investment decision-making.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the effect of value-based performance measures, namely Economic Value Added (EVA), Financial Value Added (FVA), and Market Value Added (MVA), on stock returns of technology sector firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange over the 2021–2024 period. The motivation of this study arises from the growing dominance of technology firms in capital markets, where traditional accounting-based performance indicators are increasingly questioned due to high innovation intensity, reliance on intangible assets, and volatile valuation dynamics. Using a quantitative explanatory approach, this study analyzes panel data comprising 17 technology firms, yielding 68 firm-year observations. The empirical analysis employs Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to evaluate the relationships between value-based performance indicators and stock returns. EVA, FVA, and MVA are used as proxies for firm-level value creation, while stock return represents market-based performance. The empirical results reveal that none of the proposed hypotheses is statistically supported. EVA shows a positive but insignificant association with stock returns, whereas FVA and MVA exhibit negative, insignificant effects. Furthermore, the model demonstrates extremely low explanatory and predictive power, indicating that value-based performance measures explain only a negligible portion of stock return variation in the technology sector. These findings suggest that stock returns of technology firms are largely driven by factors beyond accounting- and value-based performance indicators, such as investor sentiment, growth expectations, and market narratives. The study contributes to the literature by highlighting the limited ability of traditional value-based metrics to explain short-term stock returns in technology-intensive industries, particularly in emerging markets. Practical implications are provided for managers and investors in aligning performance evaluation and investment decisions with sector-specific characteristics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of liquidity, capital structure, and dividend policy on the Return on Assets (ROA) of companies listed in the FTSE ASEAN Stars Index during the 2023–2024 period. Liquidity is measured using the Current Ratio (CR), capital structure using the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), and dividend policy using the Dividend Payout Ratio (DPR). This research employs a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis. The sample consists of twenty-five companies selected through purposive sampling based on the completeness of financial statement data. The results indicate that the Current Ratio does not have a significant effect on Return on Assets, while the Debt to Equity Ratio has a negative and significant effect on Return on Assets. Dividend policy is also found to have no significant effect on Return on Assets. Simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly influence Return on Assets, with an explanatory power of 44.9%. These findings provide empirical insights into the financial factors affecting the profitability of ASEAN blue-chip companies and offer practical implications for management and investors in making financial decisions.

Abstract

Introduction: This study aims to examine the effects of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance and earnings volatility on Sharia-compliant stock price volatility, and to investigate the moderating role of leverage. The study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data from companies listed in the Indonesian Sharia Stock Index (ISSI) during the period 2021–2024. ESG data are derived from sustainability disclosures under the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, while stock price volatility is measured using historical stock price data. Methods: The analysis is conducted using path analysis in SmartPLS. The results indicate that ESG performance has a negative and significant effect on Sharia-compliant stock price volatility, supporting the signaling and stakeholder perspectives that strong sustainability practices reduce perceived risk and market uncertainty (Albuquerque et al., 2020; Zhou & Zhou, 2022).                                              Results: In contrast, earnings volatility does not have a significant effect on stock price volatility, suggesting that investors in the Islamic capital market place greater emphasis on non-financial sustainability signals than short-term earnings fluctuations (Hasanah et al., 2024). Furthermore, leverage has a significant direct effect on Sharia-compliant stock price volatility, indicating that financial risk remains a key determinant of price fluctuations. However, leverage does not moderate the relationship between ESG performance, earnings volatility, and stock price volatility. These findings contribute to the literature on Islamic capital markets by highlighting the dominant role of ESG performance in mitigating stock price volatility, while confirming the limited moderating role of leverage in the context of Sharia-compliant firms.
