To overcome this, researchers combine the principles of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Game-Based Learning (GBL) in an interesting and innovative teaching method. The results showed a significant increase in students' average scores from 36.92 in the pre-test, increasing to 60.60 in the first cycle, and reaching 89.40 in the second cycle. Overall learning completeness is achieved, where 100% of students can achieve the specified minimum grade. These resukts indicate that the Word Relay Game effectively enhances students pronounciation, fluency, vocabulary use, and speaking confidence. Abstract

This study investigates the strategies and challenges faced by the NATO student organization in instructing grammar to support students' daily English communication at the Foreign Language Development Institute (FLDI) of Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews and non-participant observations, the study identifies three instructional strategies: structured explanation and direct correction, communication-based instruction, and a blended approach. The main challenges encountered include low student interest and difficulty integrating grammar into everyday communication. These findings highlight the potential of peer-led instruction in non-formal educational settings.

Abstract

This study explores the challenges and strategies of female English teachers in East Java, Indonesia, in balancing professional and personal roles within a patriarchal cultural context. Using a phenomenological approach, the research identifies five main challenges: time management difficulties, domestic and family role challenges, psychological burdens, gender-related social pressure, and environmental issues. To address these, teachers employ coping strategies within Lazarus and Folkman’s framework, including problem-focused coping (time management, prioritization, seeking support) and emotion-focused coping (emotional support, mindfulness, relaxation, and positive reframing). Findings highlight female teachers’ resilience and proactive efforts in navigating dual roles. The study offers insights for educators, institutions, and policymakers to create more supportive, gender-sensitive environments.

Abstract

English is a compulsory subject in junior high schools, yet many institutions, including Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), rely on non-English teachers due to limited qualified staff. This study aims to investigate the experiences of non-English teachers in teaching English at MTs Nurul Jadid, focusing on the challenges faced and the strategies implemented to improve student comprehension. Using a qualitative phenomenological design with interviews and observations, the study found that the main challenges were student fatigue due to intensive Islamic boarding school activities and low learning motivation. Teachers addressed these challenges through adaptive classroom management, contextual and interactive learning, and continuous self-development. These findings highlight that with commitment, professional awareness, and adaptability, non-English teachers can teach English effectively in an Islamic boarding school context.

The results showed that the form of interference in Al- Mashduqiah Plus Junior High School is morphological and syntactical structure. Besides, these interferences are caused by several factors; they are structural and non-structural factors. The structural factors include the difference of linguistics systems in native language and the targeted language. The non-structural factors include the learners’ bilingualism, language loyalty, the inadequate vocabulary of learners’ language, and the habits of using mother tongue language.
