Abstract

This research aims to explore the implementation of deep learning as a pedagogical approach in supporting meaningful learning and realizing the four pillars of UNESCO education in the context of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Using a case study design at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Kudus, this study focuses attention on the integration of meaningful and fun learning principles in classroom learning practices. The data uses interviews, observation and documentation analysis, as well as researchers as the main instruments. The findings in this study show that the deep learning approach is able to encourage active, critical, and reflective student engagement, where learning activities are closely connected to real experiences. This practice contributes significantly to the holistic formation of students' character, particularly within the framework of UNESCO's four pillars: learning do know. Learning to do, learning to be and learning to live together. However, this study also revealed a number of challenges, such as limited teacher readiness, inadequate learning facilities, and the need for continuous professional training to support effective implementation. This research provides valuable insights for educators and policymakers in designing inclusive, transformative, and contextual learning environments in Islamic-based basic education.

Abstract

Pesantren has historically demonstrated self-autonomy in institutional management and finance. The forthcoming regulations governing pesantren funding provide several challenges for pesantren management. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method to examine the government's readiness to execute the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) on funding for the pesantren operations. The results of the study indicate that the government's readiness to execute the pesantren endowment fund involves the establishment of regulations as technical guidance and instructions for implementing the policy. The response of pesantren management to implementing the Perpres on funding for pesantren is predominantly positive. They fully support the implementation of the regulation that would allocate funding for pesantren. However, socialization and formulation of the regulation technical instructions and the legal derivatives from the pesantren-related policy are essential in executing the Perpres for the execution and implementation of pesantren endowment funds.

Abstract

Identifying the needs of Muslim travelers is crucial for the tourism industry’s development, particularly as the demand for Muslim-friendly tourism increases alongside the global Muslim population. This study aims to understand the perspectives and factors influencing the needs of Muslim tourists with halal and Muslim-friendly tourism in South Korea. This study employs a qualitative phenomenological approach, collecting primary data from 18 semi-structured interviews conducted in Seoul, supplemented by secondary and observational data. The data were analyzed using qualitative data analysis software (QDA Miner Lite), and validity testing was conducted using internal and external validity tests. This research outlines the key requirements that South Korea, as a Muslim-minority country, must fulfill to establish a halal-friendly image, such as providing halal food, worship facilities, transportation, accommodation, safety, and destinations. Supported by various studies on the needs of Muslim tourists and the challenges in implementing these facilities, the findings emphasize the crucial roles of standardization, infrastructure, and cultural sensitivity in attracting and satisfying Muslim travelers. South Korea has made progress in developing travel facilities, but additional improvements in halal services and regulations are needed to better meet the needs of Muslim travelers.
