Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the facilities and management at the Kumala Hotel in Banda Aceh related to the implementation of sharia principles based on the DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 108/DSN-MUI/X/2016. The background is the increasing need for Muslim tourists for accommodation that is in line with sharia in the development of hotel concepts in Aceh. The method used is a qualitative approach that uses data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. The results show that the Kumala Hotel has provided halal food, prayer room and prohibit immoral acts and pornography. From the management side, sharia principles are attempted in service, human resources, and finance. However, obstacles that arise are the limited human resources who understand sharia in more depth and less than optimal supervision. It is hoped that the results of this research will be able to contribute and references in the development of sharia hotels in Indonesia.

This study aims to analyze the role of business performance as a mediating variable in the relationship between entrepreneurial characteristics and Islamic financial behavior on the welfare of Mustahik (Zakat recipients). The research was conducted through the BAZNAS Microfinance Village (BMV) Program in Banda Aceh using a quantitative approach with both primary and secondary data. The population consisted of micro entrepreneurs in Banda Aceh, with a sample of 103 determined using the Slovin formula and selected through purposive sampling based on predefined criteria. Data were analyzed using path analysis to examine both direct and indirect effects among the variables. The results of the study indicate that entrepreneurial characteristics and sharia financial behavior have a positive and significant effect on business performance. Moreover, entrepreneurial characteristicsalso have a positive and significant influence on the welfare of Mustahik. However, sharia financial behavior and business performance do not show a significant effect on Mustahik welfare. Furthermore, business performance is proven to partial mediatethe relationship between entrepreneurial characteristics and Mustahik welfare.Conversely, business performance does not mediate the relationship betweensharia financial behavior and Mustahik welfare non-mediation.

Abstract

This study investigates how physical evidence in Middle Eastern–themed restaurants influences revisit intention in Banda Aceh and whether Muslim customer satisfaction mediates that relationship. Motivated by the growth of halal dining and the centrality of servicescape to Muslim diners’ experiences, the research addresses limited empirical evidence in this specific cultural setting. A cross-sectional survey was administered to 300 Muslim customers who had visited at least one target restaurant; responses were captured on a five-point Likert scale using reflective indicators for physical evidence, customer satisfaction, and revisit intention. Data were analyzed with partial least squares structural equation modeling (SmartPLS 3.0) and bootstrapping. Measurement results showed strong reliability and convergent–discriminant validity across constructs. Structurally, physical evidence had a significant positive effect on customer satisfaction and revisit intention, while customer satisfaction also significantly increased revisit intention. The model explained a substantial share of variance in customer satisfaction and revisit intention, and mediation testing indicated that customer satisfaction partially carried the effect of physical evidence on revisit intention. These findings highlight that an Islamic-aligned servicescape—covering architecture and interior, Islamic visual cues, cleanliness, absence of non-sharia activities, prayer facilities, and transparent transactions—directly encourages return visits and, through enhanced satisfaction, further strengthens customers’ intentions to revisit. The study contributes context-specific evidence for halal hospitality management and suggests that operators should jointly invest in servicescape design and experience orchestration to build repeat patronage.

Abstract

Background: The growth of sharia cooperatives in Aceh following the implementation of Qanun No. 11/2018 Aceh has intensified competition and highlighted the importance of maintaining member loyalty. Factors such as service quality, sharia governance, and institutional image are crucial in influencing satisfaction and sustaining cooperative member loyalty. Method: This study utilized primary data by distributing questionnaires to 113 respondents through cluster sampling, namely sharia cooperatives located in the West, East, and Central Aceh regions. We tested the seven proposed hypotheses using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique. Results: The findings of this study indicate that service quality and sharia governance have an effect on the institution's ideals. Likewise, service quality has an effect on member loyalty. However, sharia governance and brand image do not have an effect on member loyalty. The indirect effect also reveals that the brand image cannot influence service quality or sharia governance's effect on member loyalty. The study investigates the mediated effect of sharia governance and service quality on member loyalty. Conclusion: This empirical evidence demonstrates that sharia cooperatives need to improve the quality of their services in order to preserve member loyalty
