Abstract

Abstract

The general purpose of implementing this activity is as a form of higher education tri dharma activities which are carried out every year using DIPA Polmed funds. While the special objective is to improve the ability of MSMEs in the business world and participate in efforts to develop regional economic capacity. PKM activities have been carried out at the Waroeng Cemilan Amimi Business. Community Partnership Service (PkM) activities are carried out with a focus on the development of MSMEs called Waroeng Cemilan Amimi. Through the implementation of PKM, assistance is carried out to increase the understanding of business owners related to making simple financial statements to support their business continuity. In addition, in response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the business, assistance was provided in the form of chest freezers and electric ovens to increase efficiency and product diversification. The results of this PkM activity show an increase in the understanding of Waroeng Cemilan Amimi owners in preparing financial statements, so that they are able to manage their business better. The provision of additional equipment such as chest freezers and ovens has helped in expanding production as well as increasing product competitiveness. Thus, this PKM activity has succeeded in making a positive contribution to the sustainability and development of local MSMEs, in line with efforts to support microeconomic recovery during the pandemic. Abstract

Abstract

As the capital of North Sumatra Province, Medan City demands the availability of qualified urban infrastructure to offset its dynamic development pace. One of the crucial elements supporting public movement is pedestrian facilities or sidewalks. However, the current condition of the pedestrian paths along the Jalan Pangeran Diponegoro – Jalan KH. Zainul Arifin corridor is not functioning optimally due to widespread illegal parking occupancy, street vendor activities, and a lack of complementary facilities. This study was conducted to assess the existing condition of pedestrian facilities on Jalan Pangeran Diponegoro – Jalan KH. Zainul Arifin while formulating tactical strategies to improve service quality and user comfort. The research approach applied is a quantitative descriptive statistical method. The study results indicate that the utilization and feasibility of pedestrian paths at that location are still below the required comfort standards. Several fundamental obstacles found in the field include the misuse of sidewalk functions by parked vehicles and vendors, as well as the scarcity of essential supporting elements. Based on these findings, this study formulates a number of technical recommendations, including the enforcement of parking zones, relocation of vending areas, and the provision of representative supporting facilities. The implementation of these proposed improvements is expected to create a safe and comfortable walking space, as well as serve as a stimulus for sustainable transportation infrastructure development in urban areas.

Abstract

The rapid growth of population density and activity in Deli Serdang Regency has led to an increase in traffic flow that is not proportional to road capacity, particularly on William Iskandar Pasar V Road, which is equipped with a U-Turn facility. The presence of this U-Turn causes vehicle speed reduction, queuing, and a decline in traffic performance. This study is based on the Indonesian Highway Capacity Guidelines (PKJI) 2023, the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation No. PM 96 of 2015 concerning road level of service, and the U-Turn Planning Guidelines 2005 as references for alternative solutions. Data collection was carried out through primary data from direct field surveys (traffic volume, side friction, speed, and road geometry) over seven days during peak hours, as well as secondary data from relevant institutions. The data were processed and analyzed using PKJI 2023 calculations and simulated using PTV VISSIM software. The results show that the highest degree of saturation reached 1.35 on weekdays with a level of service F, along with significantly long travel times and queue lengths for vehicles performing U-Turns, and an accepted VISSIM simulation validation (GEH 3,565). It is concluded that the U-Turn facility significantly affects the decline in road performance, and recommended solutions include relocating the
